1. Hassan Nasrallah
Abdel Karim Salim ,   Jerusalem - ISRAEL   (07.01.08)
Modern Israel from the moment of its inception in 1948 did not anticipate or expect to be challenged and confronted by an Arab leader who made former Arab leaders like Nasser and Sadat of Egypt and Hafez Assad of Syria get eclipsed and look mighty pale when compared to him. While Nasser got terribly defeated in war together with two other Arab countries in six days only in 1967,and while Sadat gave in to Israel and conceded by visiting Israel directly in 1977 and recognizing it openly in order to regain his desert Sinai in 1979,and while the late despotic king of desert Jordan Hussein was only too happy to be where he was to serve the purposes of Israel, Hassan Nsrallah of the Lebanese Arab "Hizbullah" organization of true and dedicated freedom fighters made an about face and decided to adopt the opposite method, that is continuing the armed struggle against Israel until he was indeed finally( and incredibly) able to make Israel pull out of southern Lebanon, and release valuable Lebanese POWs while in the meantime he proved most valiant by standing his grounds in the brutal and costly 34-day war of summer 2006 and,for the very first time in history of modern Israel, strike hard almost all northern Israel mercilessly without having regular armed forces or air force or navy or air defense system. Historically, so far Hassan Nasrallah has without the least doubt proved the most courageous and audacious and the wisest and most shrewd Arab leader in the 20th and 21st centuries. The stunningly-amazing fact is that Nasrallah hails from the weakest and poorest of Arab countries, the tiny,peace-loving Arab Lebanon whom Israel did not bother to take seriously until the outbreak of the unforgettable Second Lebanon War...
2. price
Ilana   (07.01.08)
I think the price Lebanon paid and all the pain anddeath andsuffering onboth sides, could never be called a victory by any sane decent person or leader. Of course, Nasrallah is none of these...
3. Findings of the last war in Lebanon.
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (07.01.08)
Following the last war in Lebanon, Israel will have to draw certain major lessons to ensure its long-term strategic survival. What is needed now, immediately and urgently, are thoughtful and coherent guidelines concerning national defense, deterrence, targeting and even preemption (anticipatory self-defense). It is no longer adequate for Israel (more or less capably) to merely stumble from one war to the next without an appropriate “master plan” for direction. Armed with such a framework of expanded conceptual understanding, the Jewish state could quickly begin to deduce pertinent tactics and policy options to match particular situations and crises. In the near-term, of course, the need of both nuclear war avoidance and counter-WMD terrorism. The war against Hizbullah does not concern Israel only, as explained at: http://xrl.us/bi3hn
4. It's time Israel stopped handing the enemy "victories'
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (07.01.08)
Nasrallah didn't stop with the Israeli withdrawal in 2000, he won't stop with the most current swap agreement. As the writer points out, he's now focusing on the seven "Shiite villages" where Kiryat Shemona lies today. He's even threatening to restart attacks over the issue of cluster bomb maps. But as we've seen, with each "victory" achieved by the enemy camp - whether Hizbullah, Hamas, the PA or Syria - they're only encouraged to push for more. That Olmert even suggested ceding the Har Dov/Sheba Farms region to Lebanon shows he still doesn't get it;.
5. Prisoner exchange
(07.01.08)
Nassaralla is very, very dangerous for Israel. He is highly intelligent and sly, not to mention cruel. He will keep trying to get more and more from us. He will never forgive us for killing his firstborn son, even though when it happened we didn't know that it was his son. But despite everything, I feel we did the right thing by getting our soldiers back, even if they are not alive. Without the exchange, we and their families would never know their fate. Unfortunately, we are not sure yet what will be with Ron Arad and Gilad Shalit. Let us pray for the best.
6. #1 Abdel from Israel
Cynthia ,   USA   (07.01.08)
You show your admiration for a sworn enemy of Israel. This same enemy you call courageous and audacious sacrificed the lives of hundreds of Israelis and Lebanese to impress you. He so bravely used human shields and hid behind women and children praying that Israel would not retaliate. He got his bloated hand slapped for underestimating the Israeli response. His freedom fighters turned Lebanon into a graveyard while he "mercilessly" attacked Israeli civilian communities of men, women and children hoping to murder as many people as possible. Nasrallah is a coward, a brute and a useless excuse for a human being who brings nothing but destruction to the world for his own greedy expansionist purposes. If you admire this glutton, why not join him in whatever hellhole he's hiding in?
7. #1, They said the same thing about Nasser
Jake   (07.01.08)
That this was the Arab leader that would unite the Arabs and eclipse all Arab leaders before him and annihilate Israel and "restore Palestinian rights" and Arab dignity. You forgot that before Nasser was defeated in 1967, there was the war of 1956, as a result of which Israel took over the Sinai and France and Britain took over the Suez. As a result of American and international pressure, all three were forced to withdraw, and Nasser hailed it as a great victory for the Arabs. He then united Egypt with Syria to create the United Arab Republic. Before '67, Nasser was engaging in the same arrogant braggadocio, bluster, threats, saber rattling, and confidence that Israel would be destroyed as Nasrallah is today. Everything has its day, though. There is a time for 'divine victories', and a time for ignominious defeats.
8. Israel should seek peace with Hezballah
Foley ,   Manchester,England   (07.01.08)
Israel has tried about 5 times to crush Hezballah. Everytime it failed. Hezballah seems to have the knack to escape Israeli plans to subdue it. I dont blame Israel for wanting to beat its enemies. But please dont get caught being humilaited by your enemies. Israeli leaders have time and gain given fuel to Hezbollah. For example, when you make big proclamations that you dont make deals with terrorists, and on the other hand do exatctly that, then in the eyes of Britain, EU, and entire civilised west, you destroy your own credibility. Most of world believes Nasrallah more than it does Israeli leaders. Thats a real shame on Israel. So, first get yourself proper honest leaders, and only then even think of taking on the likes of Nasrallah and Ahmadinejad. They keep to their word. You break yours. Its disgraceful.
9. #8, Umm, there is something you don't quite get here
Jake   (07.01.08)
Israel cannot make peace with Hizbullah, because Hizbullah's own charter and stated objective is the elimination of Israel. If it gets rid of this objective, it will no longer be Hizbullah. The only negociation that Hizbullah would conduct is the method by which to eliminate Israel... much like when King Henry VIII decided to commute poor Anne Boleyn's sentence from burning at the stake to good-old beheading. Furthermore, if most of the world really believes Nasrallah speaks the truth, it is because they have eyes that do not see and ears that do not hear. Nasrallah only recently violated his solemn oath never to turn his guns on other Lebanese when Hizbullah opened fire on other Lebanese factions with overwhelming and ruthless force. Trust him at your own peril.
10. BLACKMAIL
SHADOIL ,   Jerusalem   (07.01.08)
As long as we continue to pay a high price we will continue to be blackmailed. Our boys are worth everything to us but somehow somebody with a bit more sense should be able to do better than this. Nachmias is correct. And this is not the first time we have been screwed in a swap. What in ..cks name is the matter with our politicians?
11. Your view of Hizbullah
K ,   Beirut   (07.02.08)
I thought your article was poor because it refers to HA as if it was a seperate entity from Syria and Iran ! On another page, a widely held view in Lebanon is that the reason the Israelis accept to free so many arab prisoners for two odd corpses is because they beleive that 'a 100 arab lives are worth 1 Israeli live' and they want that to show in any deals.
12. Shame on Israel!
David ,   Beirut Lebanon   (07.03.08)
This is the most humiliating moment for israel since its creation. israel gets two dead bodies and in return it immortalizes nasrallah. Great job! In fact, I don't think that this is a coincidence. It is becoming more and more obvious to me that israel and hezbollah are partners and allies. How else could one explain this clearly unbalanced deal? More over, why does israel not negotiate with the Lebanese Government directly? Why does it always choose to negotiate with an illegitimate and a terrorist organization? I will answer that. It is because israel, just like hezbollah, has no respect or regard for Lebanon's sovereignty or independence. Thank you israel for helping hezbollah undermine the Lebanese Government and for silently (and sometimes not so silently) working on the destruction of Lebanon. With your help, there will soon be a mini-iran on your northern border, and maybe that's exactly what you want. But to the spineless israeli government I say: be careful what you wish for.
13. #12 Lebanese, Israel's Jews BETRAYED by Peace Agreements
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (07.07.08)
Long live Lebanon and Israel! David, We are ALL BETRAYED - all the world's non-Muslims and peaceful Muslims who believe ALL should OBEY G-D's Law: YOU SHALL NOT MURDER The innocents of the world face an unpleasant future. Only G-D will be able to rescue us! PLO terrorists created the civil war in Lebanon, murdering huge numbers of Lebanon's Christians including the horrors of 'The Massacre and Destruction of Damour'. See: http://www.free-lebanon.com/LFPNews/psa/psa.html 20,000 Christians were handicapped by PLO atrocities. Click on right side-PhotoGallery: http://www.free-lebanon.com/ The PLO were REWARDED for their barbarism, implanted into Israel as "peace" partner terrorists via the Oslo Covenant With Death to perpetrate mass murder and terrorism. THAT IS WHAT TERRORISTS DO. Under intense U.S. pressure, thousands of Muslim terrorists have been released from Israeli jails. Judea/Samaria Jews are criminally rendered defenseless against the barbaric Islamic enemy-their weapons cruelly confiscated by the IDF whilst at the same time heavily arming the PA/PLO in the war against Jews. Islam is the favorite religion of non-Muslim Western leaders. israelnationalnews.com 04/27/08, The IDF is transferring the responsibility for protecting 40 Jewish towns in Judea and Samaria (Yesha) to private firms, and withdrawing protection altogether from ten others Recent decisions... * Cancellation of Mivtzar program, in which a local emergency response team is trained by the army, to be utilized in case of a terrorist infiltration... * Collection of weapons from the communities... * Cancellation of subsidies for enforcing private cars' windows from rock attacks. * Withdrawal of National Service girls from security headquarters in the towns. * Cancellation of budgeted funding for protecting school buses for special-education and handicapped children against shooting attacks... * Cancellation of budgeted funding for running security vehicles. "Some towns simply cannot use their security vehicles anymore," Vaknin says. In addition, many checkpoints at which Arabs are checked for - and often found to be carrying - weapons have been removed. Furthermore, permission has been granted for more Arab policemen to bear arms in PA-controlled cities, and some 20 armored vehicles will be transferred to PA control in the near future. http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/125978 Set up training camps. Every Jewish man, woman and teenager must be trained and fully armed to defend against the Islamic enemy!
14. #12 US/NATO'S WAR on Christians. WE BOMBED the WRONG SIDE
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (07.07.08)
NATO War Crimes and links to Al Qaeda confirmed former UN Commander in the Balkans We bombed the wrong side? by Lewis MacKenzie National Post, 6 April 2004 www.globalresearch.ca Five years ago our television screens were dominated by pictures of Kosovo-Albanian refugees escaping across Kosovo's borders to the sanctuaries of Macedonia and Albania. Shrill reports indicated that Slobodan Milosevic's security forces were conducting a campaign of genocide and that at least 100,000 Kosovo-Albanians had been exterminated and buried in mass graves throughout the Serbian province. NATO sprung into action and, in spite of the fact no member nation of the alliance was threatened, commenced bombing not only Kosovo, but the infrastructure and population of Serbia itself... Those of us who warned that the West was being sucked in on the side of an extremist, militant, Kosovo-Albanian independence movement were dismissed as appeasers. The fact that the lead organization spearheading the fight for independence, the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), was universally designated a terrorist organization and known to be receiving support from Osama bin Laden's al-Qaeda was conveniently ignored. ...Those Serbs forced to leave joined the 200,000 who had been cleansed from the province since NATO's "humanitarian" bombing in 1999... Since the NATO/UN intervention in 1999, Kosovo has become the crime capital of Europe. The sex slave trade is flourishing. The province has become an invaluable transit point for drugs... The objective of the Albanians is to purge all non-Albanians...from Kosovo The campaign started with their attacks on Serbian security forces in the early 1990s... There was no genocide as claimed by the West -- the 100,000 allegedly buried in mass graves turned out to be around 2,000, of all ethnic origins, including those killed in combat during the war itself. The Kosovo-Albanians have played us like a Stradivarius. We have subsidized and indirectly supported their violent campaign for an ethnically pure and independent Kosovo... When they achieve independence with the help of our tax dollars combined with those of bin Laden and al-Qaeda, just consider the message of encouragement this sends to other terrorist-supported independence movements around the world. http://globalresearch.ca/articles/MAC404A.html Maj-Gen. Lewis MacKenzie, now retired, commanded UN troops during the Bosnian civil war of 1992.
15. #12 1999 US/NATO WAR On Christian Serbs: RETURN to BARBARISM
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (07.07.08)
U.S./NATO took the side of the KLA Muslim terrorist organization and waged ruthless war on Christian Serb innocents. Alija Izetbegovic stated in the ISLAMIC DECLARATION that: - "there can be neither peace nor coexistence between the Islamic faith and non-Islamic social and political institutions"; http://www.balkanpeace.org/cib/bos/bosi/bosi01.html NATO BOMBING -- RETURN TO BARBARISM For National Post, May 31, 1999. For 69 days the democratic countries of the West have been systematically smashing to pieces a modern European state... The air strikes have degenerated into a war of annihilation against the Serbian people. Even before the bombing, its economy had collapsed as a result of economic sanctions. ... It was a country that presented no threat either to its neighbors or to European security. Prior to the NATO air attack it was balancing on the edge of survival. Despite this, our NATO leaders -- without consulting their parliaments or their people -- have chosen to bomb Yugoslavia into submission. NATO has judged Serbian people to be collectively guilty of daring to defy an ultimatum, which no sovereign nation could have accepted. The civilized world is now standing by witnessing the destruction of a country and annihilation of its people. NATO is using the most dreadful weapons of modern warfare: cluster bombs and cruise missiles. Many of the weapons being used contain depleted uranium, which will spread deadly radioactive dust throughout the region, contaminating for generations water, soil and crops. NATO's unprovoked attack is a blatant violation of every precept of international law. To their everlasting shame, our NATO leaders have chosen war over peace in Kosovo. They have abandoned diplomacy in favor of bloodshed. .. They have smashed the framework of world security. They have guaranteed that we will start the new century as we did this one, with killing and carnage. They have left us with a terrible legacy. With six months to go before the millennium, they have taken us back to barbarism. http://www.deltax.net/bissett/a-bombing.htm Merciless global jihad is waged against the world's non-Muslim innocents - Muslim jihadist supremacists receive enormous help and support from Western ruling elites in their goal of world conquest.
