1. Buy arabs bottled water and not video cameras!
Yonatan ,   Nahariya   (07.01.08)
B'Tselem has spent a fortune outfitting pallywood with hightech video equipment so they can document them dying of thirst, go figure? As to why Israeli's get more water, maybe it has something to do with the fact they actually pay taxes? What a concept! Just another reason for the arabs to move back to their grandparents homelands of Syria, Iraq and Egypt. Why should Israel give water to the arab fifth column that wants to kill Jews and promote more terror?
2. Cant they set up their own water resources
s   (07.01.08)
next to the aid they already get? I'm sure there must be wells overthere. Please show proof if otherwise.
3. Israel is facing a severe water shortaged too!
redmike ,   Tel Aviv   (07.01.08)
And tell Olmert to take his daughter that works with B'Tselem with him when he gets thrown out. Perhaps they can join the two sons that are hiding in the US to avoid military service?! Mike
4. Water for Beit Shean or for Ramalla
Ilan ,   Ariel   (07.01.08)
The aquifer under Judea and Samaria is a major source of water for Israelis living in both sides of the green line. If we need to give the Palestinians more water then there will be less (and not enough) for Israeli agriculture in the Jordan Valley and the Negev. In any case the Arabs are taking at least twice as much water as claimed. It just isn't registered because it is taken without paying for it.
5. Kinda hard to believe this article
JPS ,   Efrat   (07.01.08)
With the Pals begging the world for billions of dollars of handouts, and at the same time dumping all their raw sewage, it's hard to find B'tselem's arguments credible. The Pals model themselves on Israel, and their bureaucratic incompetency is, well, right up there with the best of 'em. If Hebron and Jenin and Nablus all had sewage treatment plants to purify the water, well, gosh, if all the Israeli municipalities also treated all their waste water... But then, that would mean the Pals would have to actually use the donor money for infrastructure projects that serve their people, instead of a hamula here or there. But waddya know... same for the Israelis, who think that the endless tap of water will continue to flow. Stealing water? That would mean we're smarter than we really are. Naw, Israelis are just stupid when it comes to water management. The Palestinians are the same.
6. Notorious Israel Is...
Abdel Karim Salim ,   Jerusalem - ISRAEL   (07.01.08)
After the creation of Israel in 1948 Israel totally drained "Huleh" Lake which was all the time just noth of Tiberius Lake(Sea of Galilee). Besides, the so-called "Land of honey and milk" proved so thirsty that Israel also pumped abundantly from River Jordan in the early sixties to the point where the water issue developped political and security side effects which caused many clashes between Syria and Israel and ultimately became one of the primary causes of the 1967 Six-Day War.I still remember all that up till now... !!! There were further rumors that Israel pumped a lot from Litani River during Israel's occupation of southern Lebanon following the 1978"Operation Litani " which was Israel's retaliation for the March 1978 Ma'gan Michael hijacking of Egged bus by 8 armed Palestinians...
7. Relentless Arab and Leftist Assault
GZLives   (07.01.08)
"A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes. ... "B'Tselem reports" says it all ....
8. b'tselem should be uniformly sent to uganda
(07.01.08)
they would have taken that land in the first place and they belong there
9. Btselem' s search for strife and ignorance
gabriela ben ari ,   Jerusalem   (07.01.08)
Btselem, or Ynet's report, out of pure ignorance amongst other motivesfail to mention one or two things It is banned by LAW to drill any more wells in Israel, whether in Judea, Samaria or in the Coastal plains. Period. Pumping quotas are reduced year afer year for the existing ones and any deviation penalized. This is basically done because water resources are depleted in Israel, A sweet water aquifer leaving a vacum is inmediatelly replaced by salty water, which you cannot get rid of for decades, even if you stop using the well. On top most aquifers are severely contaminated with mineral oils proceeding from gas stations, lubes, repair shops ect. The reasons are many, I'll just mention one more "detail". Palis neglected all these years to stablish a standard sewage system. Even if stated in Oslo accords. Their culture has it good it enough to dispose of anything right into the already delicate (call them "rivers"?) that flow into the Coastal Plain. Look at a map, rivers (samll channels rather) in Israel drain from East to west. Meaning for years we have been dealing in israel with all the sewage we get from them. Now they want to pump more....Guess what ecological nightmare awaits us. They should get free water from Jordan or Syria which made sure to redirect hundreds of millions of cubic metres that should be reaching the Kinneret for themselves There is plenty of water in the Nile and Euphrates BTW. Lame reporting of this kind makes it more complicated to reach a comprehensive solution that will benefit both Jews and Arabs
10. Jenin water pump news is irrelevant to the water shortage!
The Doc ,   Haifa, Israel   (07.01.08)
...well done Ynet! Excellent piece of investigative journalism! And moreover, excellent editorial management for putting the water pump malfunction news right with the B'Tselem crap. So Jenin without water is not because of Israel. Actually Israel will HELP Jenin's water problem by FIXING the pump! Basically - no connection to B'tselem (or "No Tselem") pathetic and false "statistics". As a matter of fact, if Ynet was smart enough and wanted to balance the undoubtly palestinian propaganda, it should have said that "Despite the claims, Ynet has learned that last month Jenin was virtually without water after a faulty pump was sent to Israel for repairs". THAT is the truth and the spirit of the truth! And if they don't have water, let them try and drink Jewish blood - like they've been doing for 60 years!
11. #3 even after stealing Golan's and 50% of WB's water,
observer   (07.01.08)
Israel still has water shortage. So, the two state solution and negotiation to cede Golan for security are just maneuvers on the Israeli side.
12. WHO CARES, REALLY? SICK OF THEIR BLEATING
DOOMHAM ,   PARASITE-UK   (07.01.08)
If these riff-raff invested just a small portion of their energy into constructive pursuits, then they would would have far less to worry about...and complain. I mean, these scumbags cant even organize enough civic pride to sweep their streets! No shame! Bloodsuckers!
13. b'tselem: the enemy of the jewish people
aaron ,   ra'anana   (07.01.08)
14. Btzelem means in the cross, lol
Ben ,   Gush Etzion   (07.01.08)
Btzelem should go sit on a tack! We are also suffering for a water shortage. If the members of Btzelem believed in G-d they would realize that G-d is not sending us sufficient water. If the Palis are the biblical people they claim to be let them go dig wells, let them stop polluting wells
15. Israel's Land And Israel's Water
Yishai Kohen ,   YeShA, Israel   (07.01.08)
If the Philistines don't like it, let them go drink from the Dead Sea- the Jordanian/"Palestinian" side.
16. oil is $140 a barrel - let their Arab "brothers" buy them
Moshe ,   Beit Shemesh   (07.01.08)
water or anything else. PS I wonder how much water the average Btzelem member who lives in Hertzliya or Kfar Shmariyahu uses- probably MUCH more than the "settlers" that they are complaining about.
17. West bank of what? Jordan?
Dan   (07.01.08)
18. 40 cubic metres?
Juan ,   Spain   (07.01.08)
... is that a typographical error. I have nearly 40 cubic metres in a swimming pool. 40,000 litres is a drop in the ocean, so to speak! It's hardly worth mentioning.
19. Very logical: ISRAEL STEALS WATER IN THE LAND OF ISRAEL!
SERGIO ,   ISRAEL   (07.01.08)
FUNNY HOW ISRAEL'S ENEMIES HAVE NO SENSE OF LOGIC, HISTORY AND TRUTH AND - AFTER SAYING THAT THE TEMPLE NEVER EXISTED ON THE TEMPLE MOUNT OR THAT ABRAHAM, who lived 2700 years before Mohammed, WAS A MUSLIM, NOW THEY SAY THAT WE STEAL OUR OWN WATER...
20. Yediot Propaganda Medium of Arabs
Sam ,   Jerusalem   (07.01.08)
The Israeli press has become the biggest weapon that the Arabs have against Israel. Repeated often enough the anti Israel propaganda spewed forth by Betselem and other pro Arab groups under the guise of humanatarian reasons takes on legitamacy especially if it is continually repeated by the Israeli press. It is time for the entire Israeli press to grow up and stop appologising for our existance.
21. Gabriela#9 Very well put and explained. Isn't YNet suppose
Stewart ,   USA   (07.01.08)
to consult a expert in engineering or environmental science before they try to tackle a technical political issue? Ali Waked is not doing a thorough job. Back to J school for him and his editor.
22. 40 MILLION CUBIC METERS IS WHAT ISRAEL GIVES TO JORDAN!!!
SERGIO ,   ISRAEL   (07.01.08)
AND THE ARABS MEANTIME ACCUSE US OF STEALING WATER WHILE WE GIVE IT TO THEM...
23. Ynet printing propaganda again
Jay3 ,   Israel   (07.01.08)
I dont need to repeat what #10 said..........YNet needs to check the facts first before printing slander!
24. CONFUSED MEDIA
DAVID ,   JUDEA   (07.01.08)
The damage caused by the israeli media has never been calculated, but must be huge. Our Herzelists who are very religious about their SECULARISM , will do anything to prove their so-called moral superior attitude, even if it means twisting some facts on the ground. On the one hand they constantly bash their own country and everything related to it in their self loathing, on the other hand they moan about any perceived anti Israel sentiment abroad, for which they are mostly accountable. There is an old proverb that says,"the pen is mightier then the sword." Unfortunally the Israeli media are totally clueless to this and go out of their way , to stab their own citizens in the back, never giving any thought what they publish and in which form, as long as it puts us in a bad light. Just coming back from overseas they are highly sucsesfull in creating this negative image , because very few people like anything related to Israel. As one can see from all over the world people read the media here , being fed just negativity and garbage about Israel.
25. small manipulation
(07.01.08)
B'Tselem blame Israel for not supplying enough water but no where in the website it talk about "stealing water". Ali Waked don't lie.
26. #23 Not only Ynet
Max ,   Oslo, Norway   (07.01.08)
Unfortunately it's not only Ynet printing this propaganda. One of the major Norwegian newspapers (aftenposten) is also referring to this report from B'Tselem in todays paper.
27. The whole of the M.E. has a water problem
Vicky ,   Ashkelon, Israel   (07.01.08)
We try and conserve it. They don't pay taxes on it like us. They would not allow us - pre the interfada - to go into their towns and modernise their sewage system. If they want to live like rats, then let them. Perhaps the only way they can appreciate water is by being allocated a daily allowance to make them. We are not responsible for the lack of rain this year and depletion of it in the last 10 years. We all have to tighten our belts, but they moan like little winging babies. Its time they grew up and took responsible - responsibility for their own lives.
28. B'tselem is not a human rights organization.
Adam Eliyahu Berkowi   (07.01.08)
I have a close friend, a right wing settler, who was recently arrested and interrogated by Israeli police. He was abused pretty badly. We called Btselem. They do not represent Jews. Calling Btselem a human rights organization is innacurate.
29. B'Tselem DROP DEAD!
(07.01.08)
30. Let then drink Oil from Iran! It is US$143 a barrel!
The Doc ,   Haifa, Israel   (07.01.08)
