Almost 30 years after "peace" with Israel, Egypt still remains violently opposed to any normalization...but they do like US $...

..one of its writerscompares 'The Band's Visit' favourably with some of the great Czech comedy romances of the 1960s. Israel gets undeserved browny points internationally due to the fact that movies line this one and 'Waltz with Bashir' and 'Beaufort' have a leftish peacenik slant which no way reflects the true right wing militaristic attitude of Israeli society. Sharon knew what he was doing hasbara-wise when he helped put Israel's movie industry on a firmer footing a few years back.

Your endless need to demean Israeli artists makes me wonder if you're in exile because you failed in Israel. What qualifies you to judge others? You're humorless, about as charming as dirt and what you write is mediocre and predictable. Doesn't even sound like you saw "The Bands Visit". It was a charming movie without a "leftish" slant. I think the Egyptian viewers will like it.

i am egyptian professor in university in cairo. i saw this movie and enjoyed it very much. i wish that more of the egyptian public and the government allows israeli movies of any genre to be shown in cairo cinemas. they are far superior to arab movies any day. jewish/israeli themes in movie, arts, fine arts, opera, classical music, sculpture, literature and scientific magazines, if allowed in arab countries will open arab minds that there is a civilized world outside of clerical islam and despotic regimes. the arab mobs and citizenry are clueless as to style, real art, politics and basically everything that is taken for granted in the modern west. for you, one without a clue, without any artistic knowhow, without any ability to critique intelligently, swiping a negative brush on all israeli music, fine arts, literature and media is tantamount to being possessed by hate. as an arab muslim, a moderate one at that, and an intellectual, i cannot but repudiate what you have said. your knowledge is not based on intelligence, but on a blind hate reminicent of my arab mob countrymen whp know nothing, understand nothing, clueless in basically all that ocures outside the islamic world and are mostly devoid of intelligenzia, the ability to reason, to modernize and prosper. i always thought jews and particularly israelis are extremely bright. you being jewish, i assume (with a name such as yours) must be an abberation in the jewish nation. calm down and stop the hate. we have enough of it here in cairo and other arab nations to last a century. prozac would be a good and fast solution to your pain. i highly recommend it.

Now even foreign movie reviews are part of a grand Israeli conspiracy theory? I wouldn't put it beyond you to claim the Big Bang was set off by a bomb planted by the Mossad, who travelled in a time machine with a Zionist mission to disturb the peace and quiet of the vacuum and nothingness you dwell in.
