1. Now the sellout of Israel really begins
Millie ,   Israel   (07.15.08)
The consequences of this irrational and immoral deal will be enormous - and, well like the 2 Ehuds said, painful.
2. Moral Obligation
Yosef ,   Jerusalem   (07.15.08)
Millie, do you have no soul? Can you imagine the pain a mother goes through when their kid gets lost in a museum for half an hour? Try and multiply that, as much as humanly possible, and I am sure that is NOTHING compared to the loss the families feel for the missing soldiers. When I saw the new pictures of Ron Arad this week, I had tears in my eyes. 22 years later, our country still misses our brother. You can not talk about immoral when you're playing with peoples lives.
3. Cabinet authorizes
JAy3 ,   Israel   (07.15.08)
More Israeli dead from the result of releasing Kuntar. Disgraceful!
4. Today I am deeply ashamed to be an Israeli.
Tahl ,   Israel   (07.15.08)
As I've said here several times by now - releasing blood-soaked murderers in exchange for two dead bodies, is a moral bankruptcy, is a grave strategic error, and is an insult to the Haran family, to the Israeli people, and to all of mankind. I am deeply ashamed of my country, which just proved it is made of margarine. I mostly blame the media for giving Karnit Goldwasser so much air time. She is allowed to grieve, but her exposure was too exaggerated for this country's good.

7. If we were a Jewish State By Ariel Ben Yohanan
Ariel Ben Yohanan ,   Kfar Tapuah, Efraim   (07.15.08)
If we were a Jewish State this deal wouldn't gone through “We do not redeem captives for more than their value” Jewish communities throughout history would often spend large sums of money to perform the Mitzvah of Pidyon Shevuyim. This practice led to the concern that kidnappers would exploit this willingness to pay by demanding exorbitant amounts for the release of captives, such that the importance of this great Mitzvah would be diminished with the loss of other important values. Already in the SecondTempleperiod, therefore, the Rabbis made a seemingly cruel enactment that“We do not redeem captives for more than their value.” Their “value” is determined by the price that the captive would fetch in the marketplace if he were to be sold as a slave; or it would follow the standard ransom for non-Jewish captives. Kidnappers demanding significantly above the going rate should not find a partner with whom to do business in the Jewish quarter. The reason for this restriction is a matter of dispute in the Talmud(Gittin 45a). Some say it is meant to avert the impoverishment of the Jewish community at the hands of greedy kidnappers(the economic consideration); others say that if exorbitant ransoms are paid, it will provide an incentive for more kidnapping(the security consideration). Rashi explains that the practical difference between these two reasons would be a case in which ample funds are available to meet the captors’ demands(e.g. the individual, his relative or a private benefactor can pay off the ransom): here the economic consideration would not be relevant (as the public purse would be unaffected); however, the security consideration, viz. the problem of generating incentive, would still remain. The Rambam (ibid. 8:12)(and the Shulchan Aruchin his footsteps) rulesaccording to the second opinion: “Captives are not redeemed for greater than their value… so that the enemies should not pursue them to take them captive.” It therefore follows that the ability of the individual or of the community to payfor the ransoming of captivesis of no consequence Notwithstanding the above, it has been accepted practice throughout the centuries to redeem Jewish captives at almost any cost. As we shall see in detail in our next column, Halachic authorities havefound various justifications for leniency. In the event that the prisoner's life is at risk, or is subject to physical abuse, or religious coercion to renounce their Jewish faith, the rule of “not more than their value” has often beenwaived. Having said that, it goes without saying that each situation is different and has to be considered on its own merits.
8. how does Hizbullah release serial kids' murderers
(07.15.08)
hundreds of Lebanese were murdered and Hizb releases their murderers to retrieve a criminal. 1200 Lebanese, mostly civilians, were killed to get a criminal back.
9. Olmert ,the new Neville Chamberlain
Marcel ,   Florida   (07.15.08)
We are back to the appeasment and capitulation of the 30's and the quisling Olmert leads us to the next holocaust. an article in the Kuwaiti daily Al-Siyasa, which reported Monday that Hizbullah has acquired chemicals needed to make weapons such as nerve gas or mustard gas from North Korean suppliers. The Lebanese terrorist organization is allegedly preparing to arm its Katyusha rockets with such chemical warheads. Echoing Barak's claims, the Kuwaiti paper also stated that the assistance of Syria and Iran has been crucial in Hizbullah's efforts to acquire chemical weapons capabilities. The Al-Siyasa report was based on intelligence provided to the Kuwaiti paper by Syrian opposition figures in the United States
10. Lebanese TalkBack: Israel ALLIES & Partners with Hezbollah
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (07.15.08)
Embittered Lebanese are convinced Israeli government's shameful, despicable actions are motivated by great evil. In constantly seeking to fulfill the many desires of Muslim terrorists, Israeli leaders reveal utter contempt for Western civilization values-unforgivably betraying both Israelis and Lebanese. ynetnews.com Hizbullah won again Swap with Hizbullah a victory for terror group... Roee Nahmias 07.01.08 David, Beirut Lebanon TALKBACK: 12. Shame on Israel! This is the most humiliating moment for israel since its creation. israel gets two dead bodies and in return it immortalizes nasrallah. Great job! In fact, I don't think that this is a coincidence. It is becoming more and more obvious to me that israel and hezbollah are partners and allies. How else could one explain this clearly unbalanced deal? More over, why does israel not negotiate with the Lebanese Government directly? Why does it always choose to negotiate with an illegitimate and a terrorist organization? I will answer that. It is because israel, just like hezbollah, has no respect or regard for Lebanon's sovereignty or independence. Thank you israel for helping hezbollah undermine the Lebanese Government and for silently (and sometimes not so silently) working on the destruction of Lebanon. With your help, there will soon be a mini-iran on your northern border, and maybe that's exactly what you want. But to the spineless israeli government I say: be careful what you wish for. 11. The fall of israel
Johnny ,   Stockholm Sweden   (07.15.08)
This is a tragedy. This is the fall of israel? What are you doing?
12. If this isn't surrender...
Canadian Dude ,   Montreal, Canada   (07.15.08)
Then what exactly is? Why bother making promises not to swap live terrorists for dead bodies, and talking tough, only to reverse this position months later when nothing's changed on the ground? Congratulations Olmert, you've managed to keep stuffing your face to your heart's content even as you flush Israel down the toilet. Given the needless and disastrous damage you've done to Israel's reputation and credibility, caving in to a deal you could have made without lifting a finger to go to war, I wonder why you didn't just swap yourself for the soldiers and save the country a bucketload of trouble. Israel, you have to act at some point and put a stop to this corrupt nonsense. If you don't act and don't question, things won't magically get better by themselves, and there will always be someone like Olmert waiting in the wings for their chance to take you to the cleaners.
13. #8, work that Hizbollah BS
Danny   (07.15.08)
We know at least a third were Hizbollah because Hizbollah buried more than 250 and we are returning 190 more. And Hizbollah is "releasing" two bodies killed before a single Lebanese had been killed. I suggest you save up and buy yourself another brain cell to keep the one you have company.
14. #2, I bet you used the same arguments about Tennebaum
Danny   (07.15.08)
and the three other bodies we got. Had we refused to deal then, Goldwasser and Regev would probably be alive now and Shalit would be having dinner with his parents. I hope when the next kidnap victim's family express their pain that you'll point out how moral it was to capitulate to Hizbollah and in the next war you personally go round to every victim's home and tell them that it's OK we got a couple of coffins back and that's very moral.
15. #2 and thanks to this deal we'll keep on missing Arad

17. 2morrow celebrations, the day after revenge
johnnyQ ,   T.O canada   (07.15.08)
the only reason Hizbllah didn't avenge their leader Omad Mugheiyah is the prisoners swap thing, but from thursday on prepare for the ultimate revenge, and I think it's gonna be Barrack, the leading terrorist who killed many palastenians leaders. clean your shelters, and put some food and fresh water, hizbllah can reach any where they want right now, and it's gonna be different this time so the defeat 2 years ago is gonna appear as a joke.
18. this is very sad
not in israel,   (07.15.08)
to think that after 2 years we are making this deal...the poor families of the soldiers. how can israel do this. i have been thinking about aliyah for a year now and this makes me not want to .. to think that my country would exchange my dead body for alive terrorists..it is shame and horrible
19. Just the final terms of the Lebanon Surrender
Dr. Dave ,   NYC   (07.15.08)
No doubt Olmert & Livni will try to use this as an excuse to stay in power longer.
20. Freed TERRORISTS Coming SOON to Your City, Your ShoppingMall
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (07.15.08)
Protest in the streets! Surround the Knesset! Stop the release of terrorists. Prevent providing terrorists with a huge army of freed prisoners to rejoin global jihad against Israel's innocents! Stop the coming terror! The evil who free barbaric terrorists (and those who demand their freedom) are as cruel and as dangerous as the terrorists - who will protect innocents from those who free terrorists? Murderous Hezbollah Leader, Nasarallah: If they (Jews) all gather in Israel, it will save us the trouble of going after them worldwide. (Daily Star, Oct. 23, 2002) Hamas Charter: 'Israel, by virtue of its being Jewish and of having a Jewish population, defies Islam and the Muslims. Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it.' The Palestinian Authority call for the MURDER of ALL Jews and the MURDER of Americans: Broadcast from Gaza mosque, Oct 13 2000, Dr. Ahmad Abu Halabiya, on Palestinian Authority TV (transcribed by Memri): "Have no mercy on the Jews, no matter where they are, in any country. Fight them, wherever you are. Wherever you meet them, kill them. Wherever you are, kill those Jews and those Americans who are like them..." Alija Izetbegovic stated in the ISLAMIC DECLARATION that: "there can be neither peace nor coexistence between the Islamic faith and non-Islamic social and political institutions"
