1. Cruelty
(07.16.08)
Nasrallah and Kuntar: two perfect examples of cruel monsters.
2. kUNTAR IN A COFFIN
BEN GURION   (07.16.08)
Israel has to learn from this, that by keeping terrorist life in prison she is making the IDF soldier at risk... Terrorist deserve only death penalty.
3. bottom line:
David ,   Clif, US   (07.16.08)
... we have taken it up ours... thank you Olmert...
4. What comes next?
Canadian Dude ,   Montreal, Canada   (07.16.08)
So who are you gonna throw your next bone to? Are you going to abandon the Shebaa Farms just so Hezbollah will hold back from attacking for a few extra months while they entrench themselves there? Are you going to give the Golan to Syria and watch your water supply run dry? Are you going to bow down before the UN when they fail to stop the next Hezbollah border raid? Hey why not give up Jerusalem and Haifa while you're at it, that oughtta give you a few weeks of peace and quiet for sure. With Olmert, anything's possible.
5. Sympathy & admiration for Israel
A Syrian Christian ,   USA   (07.16.08)
A country that values human life so much and is against the death penalty, even towards terrorists, is deserving of the highest respect and admiration. Shame on those Lebanese, and especially Kuntar, to rejoice, instead of thanking Israel for not killing him all these years. Shame on the Arabs who do not appreciate that the very country they portray as "evil" is the only country in the Middle East who values human life. Today I feel so much emotions towards Israel. All the condolences to the families who lost their soldiers to these barbaric tribes, who should be thankful to Israel for keeping them alive.
6. Release the photos!
dr. dave ,   usa   (07.16.08)
Israel must release all photos & video of the Kuntar crime scene. Let all the world see what Shia Savages are all about. But of course intern of foreign affairs, Livni, will never do that. These are dark days for the Jewish people when we exchange bones for living savage murderers. No doubt the torture of these two IDF soldiers will be covered up by Kadima too. And now Shalit is a good as dead.
7. Beirut celebrations shameful
Yonatan ,   Jerusalem   (07.16.08)
the leftist can celebrat with their palis friends too, getting used to the humiliation of this disgraceful government and their backers.
8. What about Palestinian Authority?
YOEL ,   Raanana   (07.16.08)
Abbas also congratulated the freed "resistants", and for me he's the most disgusting. Unfortunately our PM will continue discussing about peace with this uggly man. Is he really moderate??
9. When Judaism and Zionism Die
Erik   (07.17.08)
Child-killers are set free, and the Israeli govt. and military boo hoos and wrings its collective hands. Kuntar and his girlfriend Nasrallah must not - MUST NOT - die natural deaths.
10. "I have returned from Palestine...
Kuntar   (07.17.08)
...only to return to Palestine"
11. I AM ASHAMED TO BE LEBANESE
Yuhanna Alqarmidi ,   California, USA   (07.17.08)
Samir Kuntar and his likes should not have been released by Israel, but executed long time ago; they are not prisoners of war, but criminals and should be treated as such. If the Lebanese officials have a shred of morality and humanity left in them, they should have immediately incarcerated such people and punish them in an appropriate manner. Of course, not every Lebanese approves of these shameful and immoral celebrations. The release of such criminals by Israel will be viewed as weakness by her enemies and will embolden them to carry on their cowardly attacks against Israel.
12. But I AM PROUD TO BE LEBANESE
Ali ,   Lebanon   (07.17.08)
You should be ashamed of yourself talking about Kuntar and ignore the thousands the so called Israle kills and keeps in killing every day. Stay in the USA dude, we don't need you back home. You are ashamed, actually ur not Lebanese..The true Lebanese are the ones who stayed here and fought against the Israeli aggression. We won before, we won now and we will win after bcoz justice always prevauls God Bless Hezbollah and the people of Lebanon and Palestine.
13. I am waiting
Gilad ,   Gazastan   (07.17.08)
14. Centuries backwards for Lebanon
Joe ,   Los Angeles   (07.17.08)
"This country and these people have presented a clear image to the world and to the enemy that we can't be defeated." Well, they've certainly presented a clear and memorable image to the world by celebrating and declaring a holiday for a child killer, but it's not quite the image they intend to project: The image of a country that was once the "Switzerland of the Middle East" will have a very very hard time ever recovering from the images of this day. An absolutely terrible (and probably fatal) start for the new (and hopefully soon-to-be-former) Lebanese President. Like Ahmadenidjad, Suleiman deserves to be told he will not be welcome in my country (the USA) or any other Western country. A former supporter of former forces of modernity in Lebanon
15. Deputy FM Whbee's rebuke may be noble, however...
Steve ,   US   (07.17.08)
It was Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and his Kadima-ruled cabinet that voted to authorize the release of this despicable mass-murderer / child-killer, warnings that the exchange was impoper notwithstanding. It seems to me, releasing despicable murderers for whatever reason is beyond the pale. Despicable murderers should be executed; not pardoned by Israel's president and released to perpetrate more brutal murders. Additionally, by releasing this despicable murderer, isn't Kadima signaling celebrations, on the part of Israel's enemies, are in order?
16. this can't go on
angrymad ,   haifa, israel   (07.17.08)
Today I feel as if the last curtain has fallen. They are celebrating the return of a blood-thirsty monster, red carpet, music, they are putting on a rock concert style show in Beirut... Why can't we just bomb them from the sky? Why can't we drown them in the sea of their own blood? After all, they love blood, death; why can't we make them all martyrs at once? Isn't that whay they all want? Wishful thinking... We can all smell the next war coming up here.
17. Israel ! Get a spine already !!!
Laura ,   Toronto, Canada   (07.17.08)
Israel is not located in Europe, bordering with Switzerland! KNOW YOUR NEIBORS, for crying out loud !!! Either get a spine or stop whining that your neighbors are behaving like, well, primitive middle eastern tribes !!!
18. A shameful day for Lebanon!
Maurice ,   Montreal   (07.17.08)
Here we have a country whose government declares the return of a brutal 4-year old child killer a national holiday! Here we have a country that does not adhere to any moral conventions as far as war prisoners are concerned as no info was given to the Red Cross on the two soldiers till the last minute! Here we have a country who has proven again that IS NOT A TRUE COUNTRY but nothing but a province of Syria run by Iran/Syria via the Hezbollah terrorists. Today the free world lost its respect for Lebanon.
19. We won the war, after all
Rachel ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (07.17.08)
When people say that we "lost the war" and you see how Lebanese people are celebrating the return of murderers, it is obvious we won the war for humanity and they lost what little humanity they ever possessed. We did not lose our values and all the world can now see that Hezbollah and all muslim terrorists everywhere are cowards who have no honor. May God bring peace and closure to the suffering of the Goldwasser and Regev families.
20. shameful
marvin   (07.17.08)
Israeli still do not understand arabs.Israel is the enemy implanted by colonialists in sacred arab land. Kuntar is a hero for killing the infidel israelis, adults or children. This is what they believe. Israel has to go on a savage killing spree and use aysmmetric bombs, and missiles over Nasrollah. This can only be done once Olmert is gone. They want arab prisoners back, give them back. Drop them out of planes over nasrollah.
21. Hezbollah murdered the 2 soldiers. Nassrallah to the Hague
Albert ,   Geneva, Switzerland   (07.17.08)
The scandal is that Hezbollah murdered the 2 soldiers. Nassralah should be arrested and taken to the Hague.
22. #5 - My fathers suffered side-by-side with your fathers...
Syrian Jew ,   Ramat Gan   (07.17.08)
... and we both have a duty to unmask the true faces of Arab nationalism and Islam. We Israelis (60% of us came from Muslim countries) are grateful for what sympathy and emotional support you are able to provide. Please never forget that the struggle of us Jews is the struggle of every religious minority living in the Muslim world: Armenians, Aramaeans, Berbers, Copts and many, many others. All we want is to live as a free people in the lands of our ancestors.
23. UN Resolution 1701 BETRAYED Israel, Lebanon & Free World
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (07.17.08)
During the 2006 Second Lebanon War, under INTENSE U.S. pressure, Israel's leaders treasonously agreed to UN Resolution 1701 that prevented the goal vital to Israel's security - eliminating the rocket threat from Lebanon. UN Resolution 1701 successfully prevented Israel from defeating Iran-Syria's terrorist army Hezbollah thus greatly weakening Israel and aiding and empowering Hezbollah to violently take over Lebanon. Another victory for global jihad CREATED by Western ruling elites - another victory for the Islamics in the war against the world's non-Muslims.
24. The danger
Norman ,   France - Eurabia   (07.17.08)
The danger now, is that Hezbollah think it has the power to confront Israel. Sure, it will be a disaster for Liban but today, i hope it will occur very quickly. For, i will have much pleasure when western TVs will show "all these poor dead civilians". The day is coming...
25. israel beggining meltdown
Ryan   (07.17.08)
Israel strenghtened hizbullah by giving them achievements....these prisoners should've been given to Seniora and Abbas as a good will gesture and appreciation to their moderation....if you had done that, then these leaders would be glorified and strenghtened......instead you have chose to respond to Hizbulla language.....and chose to understand such only language...language of FORCE. you can say they are terrorists as much as you want, and that's where stupidity lies....you hold grudges to your enemies .....the jewish grudge but u forget that when u make peace...u make it with your enemies..... if you had shown good gestures to arafat, then our history whould be different....ALAS
26. to 23 UN resolution 242 betrayed us too, take a number:)
Zeidan   (07.17.08)
27. #12 - Ali, Real Lebanese...
Joe ,   Ramat Gan   (07.17.08)
Real Lebanese realize what Lebanon once was and who made it what it is today. If you had a memory span slightly larger than that of a goldfish (which is 5 seconds, I've heard), you would realize that your country grows closer and closer to being annexed by Iran with every waking day. When it comes to the situation in Lebanon, I not only blame fascists like you, I also blame the French for their mismanagement of their Mandate of Syria.
28. #11 and we ashamed that you lebanese
Mamud ,   lebanon   (07.17.08)
29. Answer to Syrian jew in Israel
Zuri ,   Sydney Australia   (07.17.08)
I think you may have got your figures wrong, as far as I understand majority of jews in Israel and exile made from Ashkenazim. I recommend you research a little. There is also a good stories about how we have been treated by Muslims, they are not all bad. some of them where very good and protected us like in Yemen for example however it is only because some people is blinded by religion and got nothing else but religion
30. Really Amazing +11
Just a Guy ,   CA, USA   (07.17.08)
Is what I'm hearing in the American press true? That a majority of Israelis support this decision? If so, then maybe the Israelis really do deserve the constant attacks from their enemies. Look, the UN doesn't like you. People who oppose your right to basic self defense (i.e., decisively stopping rocket fire into your country/suicide bombers) don't like you either. It is not possible to make friends of these people and it is suicide to try. Here's one american urging you not to commit suicide. This event has burned up a lot of my sympathy and respect for the Israeli people. #11 - I sypathize with you and respect that you are decent enough to be ashamed of your former countrymen.
