1. CUT ALL FOOD, FUEL AND ELECTRICITY TILL SHALITS RELEASE
Jorge ,   tegucigalpa   (07.18.08)
Gaza is an enemy entity ruled by Hammas, Hammas is the one holding Shalit. No one is required to feed enemies bent on destroying your country. THOSE WHO DO FEED THEM, AND ALLOW THEM TO BE FED ARE ABSOLUTE MORONS.
2. Israel Will Never Learn Until Too Late
Dave Levy ,   Burbank. CAUSA   (07.18.08)
Israel continues to make the same mistakes, seemingly obvious to what the heck is going on. It's mistake was in not giving Hamas 24hrs to release Shalit, or face bombing 24-7, no cease fire and truce, just surrender. Shalit should have been declared dead long ago, to stop this nonsense. It's tragic, but Israel has to be concerned over the entire country. 152 people died when Israel in effect surrendered to the UN. Hasn't WW2 taught the Jews something? Hitler, Hamas, Hezbollah, Haman..all cut from the same cloth. Bottom LIne: no deals. If one hair on Shalits head is destroyed, Israel will send in the boys..and not stop when the US, UN or anyone else cries for mercy. However, knowing Olmert, Livni, Barak, Peres and Beilin..I don't look for an aggressive Israeli response. One sweep of 36 F16s will do wonders..Israel, get it?
3. Invitation to Kidnap Israelis
Joe K ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (07.18.08)
Now that the Ehudim have proven that it pays to kidnap Israelis, and that Israel is utterly without leadership, maybe now it's time to consider preventing this situation from ever happening again by sentencing convicted terrorists with blood on their hands to death. Full stop. Nothing more to negotiate. And while we are at it, Let's Send the Ehudim and Shimon Peres to Gaza, or to Lebanon for that matter. Israel will be better off. The stupidity of the present leadership causes me to shudder. Why are these men still tolerated? Why have they not been vomitted out of office?
4. Actually..
J K ,   NYC, USA   (07.18.08)
What it should lead to is devastating Gaza if another kidnapping takes place. Just ruin it, the price must be made too high to bear for everyone. The people wont rejoice if 3000 have to die to release 500 prisoners and there is even less infrastructure than there is now. http://www.tzomet.net
5. Bottom Line - Take NO Prisoners
GZLives   (07.18.08)
For obvious reasons ...
6. Hamas says learned......
WHAT? ,   NO WAY!   (07.18.08)
What a SURPRISE! I will tell you who didn't learn, OLMERT & CO.
7. Hamas is a would-be Hizballah. But Gaza is not Lebanon
Zvi   (07.18.08)
and Hamas would do well to consider.
8. The only was ham-ass will receive prisoners..

10. With terms of Lebanon Surrender complete, Hamas gets a bonus
Dr. Dave ,   NYC   (07.18.08)
The ayatollahs got their victory in Lebanon and are celebrating in Tehran tonight. Giddy with jubilation they bestow an extra bonus to their boys in Gaza. "You wanted change - we gave it to you. You can do it! Yess you can! (Just remember. Be VERY sadistic with Shalits family...that's the ayatollah way - and it WORKS!"
11. ein milim...(end)

Nachum ,   Cincinnati USA   (07.18.08)
Israel should give the palestinians everyone they want released - In coffins
13. Hey, sign a surrender, dismantle israel and be done with it.
AK   (07.18.08)
The way I see it, either you do it now or a year from now doen't really matter.
14.  Schallit
Tom ,   USa   (07.18.08)
The price this government will pay is the withering of Kadima to nonexistence and the voters stampeding away from Labor
15. Shalit will pay for Hizbolla deal
Ilan ,   Ariel   (07.18.08)
That was one of the criticisms of this past deal, giving live prisoners for a dead captive as if the captive was still alive. Hamas will not and has no reason to moderate their demands. They can wait for as long as they want and don't expect to hear anything more about Shalit's health either.
16. The greetings of Ismail Hniya
s   (07.18.08)
The greetings of Ismail Hniya, the prime minister of the terror government of Gaza, to the mother of Samir Quntar, the murderer of a three years old child: “You are lucky to see your son as a hero. God bless him for being released from the Jews, the descendants of monkeys and pigs, after smashing the head of a Jewish infant, a daughter of unbelievers and monkeys. My greetings for raising a good son of the Islam, a killer the hands of which are full of unbeliever Jewish blood. I congratulate you and the mothers of the all the martyrs, which have been blessed to see their son becomes a killer of Jews, our highest virtue and object on earth – killing Jews whenever they are. Every where. Bismillah” The words speak for themselves. No interpretations required.
17. Certain principles that need to be applied.
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (07.18.08)
While negotiating with terrorists certain principles that need to be applied are almost self-evident: Whatever deal is to be struck, it should be done immediately after the kidnapping. Of course the price to be paid for the return of the living is not to be the same as the price for the dead. Last but not least : We should should be fully aware of the Israelis who are being put at risk in the future as a result of giving in to the demands of the terrorists. More at : http://xrl.us/kj6sj
18. NOW WE ARE ALL IN DANGER EVEN MORE: ESPECIALLY GHILAD!
sergio HaDaR tezza ,   ISRAEL   (07.18.08)
this shameful exchange endangers US ALL, but especially our kids in uniform. NOT BY CHANCE ALL our intelligence services, ISA, MOSSAD and Army Intelligence, were TOTALLY OPPOSED to this shame! NOW, there is no reason for the Hamas to keep Ghilad Shalit alive: a corpse can be hidden more easily and requires less organization than a prisoner: they can just kill him, cut him up and put him in a freezer. They know NOW that we are ready to release murderers of babies for corpses. NOW there is no reason for our enemies to prepare complicated operations to capture our soldiers alive: they can just throw a few grenades, kill everyone and then take the corpses. Our State has lost the high moral ground and the balls of Entebbe. COUNTLESS people have been murdered because Kuntar was kept alive, instead of executed as the law allows. For one, I just want to remember Leon Klighoffer, ZTUQ"L, HI"D, the paraplegic Jew on a wheel-chair, shot and thrown off the ship Achille Lauro in 1985.
19. Where is Entebee spark?
Daniel ,   Israel   (07.18.08)
Have we lost it with the last leader of that era in coma? Has Mossad lost its abilities? Has our army become weak? Has our Government become loose? This way even supposedly softer Fatah will start torturing us!
20. "Prisoner" exchanges
Sigmet1 ,   Placerville, USA   (07.18.08)
Israel is the canary in the coal mine for western civilization. As Israel goes, so goes the west. Exchanging murderers for corpses is insanity and the enemy knows it is insanity. The Olmert government is a clear and present danger to the survival of the nation of Israel. He must leave or be forced from office.
21. By trading live terrorists for bodies only makes things wors
Mike ,   Connecticut, USA   (07.18.08)
I remember in the 50's and 60's Israel never gave in to terrorists. Now, they know that kidnapping Israelis will produce results. I fear that by this swap, the government signed Shalit's death warrant. If there is to be further exchanges, the following policy should be adopted. Prisoners will be returned in the same condition as the Israelis. If the Israeli is beaten, starved, mistreated or killed, so to the prisoners. Remember we want them home alive and well. The release did nothing to protect members of the IDF.
22. Hamas says learned from Hizbullah deal
Yonatan ,   Jerusalem   (07.18.08)
the price we all pay for the corruption we tolerate.
23. I have a simple comment.
Jack ,   Richmond, VA, usa   (07.18.08)
Israel should learn that JUSTICE will bring peace. Justice does not involve setting a convicted child murderer free. Under no circumstances should a child murderer be set free. It is one thing to set free combatants in an open conflict between soldiers and other combatants, even irregular ones, which has resulted in death. Only those who fit such a definition, not suicide bombers, not people who go and kill small children or otherwise defenseless people. This is a double edged sword, however, which would require Israel to try every single soldier, settler, citizen who kills Palestinians except in hot combat. I still remember the story of the settler who struck a Palestinian child in the head with the butt of his gun killing the child and was sentenced to time served while being tried for the crime. Arguably, the settler did what he did during a heated passion moment, however, the penalty was very minimal... Oh, yeah, he paid a fine to the family. That is not justice. This man, who Israel has recently released spent 30 years in prison, but that too is to short a time for bashing in the head of a four year old child. This man should never have been set free, and Israeli law should prohibit the government from setting this man free. It is not the same as those who fight soldiers. There is no Justice in Isarel. Not for the Palestinains, not for the Jews, not for the Children. That is the kernel of evil that perpetuates your internal conflict with the Palestinians. May G-d take could care of Gilad Shilat and bring him home healthy to his family.
24. #21 what complicates its further is that
observer   (07.18.08)
Israel did not hold the dead bodies of Palestinians so that it they could have served in the swap. 199 bodies of Arabs in the last swap were a real asset for Israel.
25. This was just a dry run to innoculate....
AVROHOM BILGREI ,   ZION   (07.18.08)
Israelis, a test balloon, in preparation for the release of barghutti !
26. Gaza
JIP ,   Israel   (07.18.08)
1. Absolutely right!!!
27. THE LESS SAID.............THE BETTER
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (07.18.08)
With the present state of affairs, associating yourself in suggesting Israel what to do and to avoid is of no benefit at all.Having witnessed Hizbullah's deal with Israel, obviously the lessons are learnt by Hamas, but to avoid further complications,it is better to go ahead with the swaps irrespective of individual feelings.Families at either end have been kept in anxiety for too long................................let their agony subside.
