1. perhaps we should also give him a medal
israeli ,   israel   (07.22.08)
because those whom he served, he served well and with dedication.
2. Mental tests
israeli ,   israel   (07.22.08)
I think we must demand that our parliamentary take IQ and mental tests before being aloowed to run for any kind of election and before they are sworn into any kind of office. It is incomprhensible how such a smart and talented people as the Jews allow themselves to be led by a complete bunch of IDIOTS. And it's getting worse by the year. Unless of course we believe the old saying "Crap rises to the surface".
3. #2, correction
israeli ,   israel   (07.22.08)
sorry, I meant "crap rises to the top". And of course "allowed".
4. the end
fish ,   t-a   (07.22.08)
There were no funds to build shelters in the North or provide soldiers in 2006 with bare essentials. Gaydamak was attacked for providing some escape to northern residents for " meddling into the government prerogatives". However there are enough funds to pay NII to families of terrorists, and enemies like Bishara. Is this beginning of the end?
5. What about recent bill
zev ,   Beitar, Israel   (07.22.08)
passed by Kineset that any MK visit enemy state without permission will not be able to be member of kinest. Does this mean not member but able to get benefits of Mk. Does not make sence.
6. The answer is a speedy trial in absentia
Zvi   (07.22.08)
7. Why haven't they come up with the following solution...
gedaliah   (07.22.08)
Open up an account for Bishara and pay out any benefit to him in this account only. It should be frozen and only accessible by him upon his return to Israel and after facing any charges.
8. Ah! Corruption reaching all political sides
David ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (07.22.08)
Even this Rivlin has been corrupted and turned into something far far from the ideals of our leaders in the Likud in many years past. There is no more Begin or Shamir. Just a bunch of power-hungry politicians that don't care about this country, it's future, it's integrity, it's honor and security. Sure, give a traitor and terrorist all the moneys and benefits that you don't even give to fellow Jews, while Jews that are poor can't afford housing, food and clothes.
9. Israeli-Israel
Keren ,   Israel-SP   (07.22.08)
It depends on the criteria for the mental tests.Everything is relative. If the bunch of complexed incompetents ,on the front line of the run of this country, apply and analyse the tests,I doubt something sane is going to come up. I guess, it is like that things function:all depends on the parameters used-if they are sane, the results are sanity;if they are insane, the results are insanity.
10. an other corrupt israeli politician...

11. ISRAEL PAYS TRAITORS? OY!
petra ,   USA   (07.22.08)
12. let me tell you rivlin what democracy is
(07.22.08)
democracy is that the people decide through their elcted representatives what should happen. if rivlin doesnt whand to do the will of the people he should step down and not talk so much about democracy
13. dementia
Jeff ,   Hiafa, Israel   (07.22.08)
Is Rivlin entering into dementia? If Bishara would come back to Israel to face his charges, then Rivlin would have a point about letting the system play out. But this guy fled to join his terrorist brothers! Rivlin seems to be floating away from reality.
14. likud MK proves a point
Arie ,   BaGolan   (07.22.08)
That the current politicos, whether kadima, labour, likud, $ha$, or ballad, are only interested in one thing: MONEY. Put funds in their Swiss accounts and they'll quickly become your friends
15. He is worried about his pension when he skips town
Jack ,   San Diego, USA   (07.22.08)
16. Is Israel Stupid?
Semsem ,   New York, USA   (07.22.08)
Why do Israelis want to be loved so much? MKs who support the pension should be fired from the Knesset and have their pensions cancelled. They are too dumb to serve.
17. Bishara
Sara ,   Yesha   (07.22.08)
There are so many other important causes we need money for and yet we are giving it to a traitor. Rav Kahane z"l was right: we should not have Arabs in our government. Bishara and his friends want to destroy the Jewish State and throw all Jews out of here. And we give him money every month? What fools we are.
18. With this Rivlin killed Likud
Amir ,   Beer Sheva   (07.22.08)
Somebody paid Rivlin money. This guy always thinks that he is doing Gods work. Rivlin must get out of politics at once. He is not smart or wise.
19. Democracy? What Democracy?
Joe K ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (07.22.08)
I guess I'm just spoiled by American or Western European standards of representative government...where elected officials are answerable to the electorate, their 'geographically' based constituency. In Israel, elected officials are answerable only to their party's central committee, hence the nauseating political tomfoolery.... The political system in Israel is old soviet style party dictatorship, like the Democratic Republic of North Korea. Israeli's arrogate onto themselves the 'claim' of democracy because there is more than one corrupt political party...the people have a choice of which party hacks manipulate the system to stay in power!!!! Israel is in desperate need of political reform, which won't come from the folks who presently 'game' the system. Only basic, real 'democratization' will save Israel from the excesses of opportunism and the venality of the present gaggle of goofs. People of Israel, vomit these hacks out of the Knesset so that our children can Live.
20. #19 wrong
Orange ,   Gush Katif   (07.22.08)
It is worse than you think. The "elected officials" are not even responsible to the central committee, only to their own pockets. The Likud Central Committee forbade Sharon from ethnically cleansing Gush Katif of Jews as they realized what this would mean to Sderot, Ashkelon and Israel security. Sharon ignored the Central Committee and destroyed the lives of 10000 Jews for his personal gain.
