The Iranian regime is motivated by a messianic ideology with a strong apocalyptic component. This renders useless the threat of mutually assured destruction. With Ahmadinejad’s announcement lately that Iran is introducing 3,000 upgraded centrifuges to its Natanz nuclear installation, it is clear that the only option remains a preventive strike against a declared genocidal Iran. It is also clear that if Iran acquires nuclear weapons, it will be impossible to confront Syria or Hamas who will operate under Iran’s nuclear umbrella. Iran today at : http://xrl.us/h8ydt
5. McCain is Either Becoming Senile or he is a Liar
Johan Odin ,   Oslo, Norway   (07.24.08)
I fail to see how Iran developing nuclear power so it can sell more oil on the market threatens Israel or anyone. I also am sick and tired of lying politicians like McCain trying to still sell the lie that Iran's president ever said he wanted to "wipe Israel off the map", for that has been thoroughly proven to be a complete misquote and was not what he said at all. What he really said was: [The full quote translated directly to English:] "The Imam said this regime occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time". [Word by word translation:] Imam (Khomeini) ghoft (said) een (this) rezhim-e (regime) ishghalgar-e (occupying) qods (Jerusalem) bayad (must) az safheh-ye ruzgar (from page of time) mahv shavad (vanish from) Iran's president merely stated in his speech that like regimes that have fallen recently such as the Soviet Union, Saddam Hussein and the Shah of Iran, the regime occupying Jerusalem will also fall, and that is quite a bit different that threatening to destroy Israel.
6. Cite actual proof of any threat...
Wanda ,   Vancouver   (07.24.08)
...to Israel's regional nuclear hegemony. Go on. And try not to use the inferential 'precautionary principle', that boils down to chauvinism . USrael's bellicosity towards Iran is just another phase in the PNAC mandate. The aims of these fraudulent and preemptive aggressions are obvious: - geopolitical positioning for future dealings with Asia (cut a clean swathe from Israel to India) - disrupt the Euro, keep the US$ as the fiat currency for oil (the money under which oil is traded is more important than the oil itself) - satisfy the blood-lust of various no-bid government contractors who revel in a continual wartime economy - and various other factors, mostly strategies for subjugating further 'markets'... control of opium trade, destruction of cultural vitality, distracting citizens dissatisfied with domestic policies with the old 'barbarians are at the gates' legerdemain... If McCain were to stand up and cite these reasons to go to war, my question is, would he be more or less correct?
