When the people get to vote in a true election it will be neither one as Kadima and Labor will lose. If the people are smart they will elect a winner and political party to change the system.

Reading this article made me sad, depressed, and literally, physically nauseated. Looking into Israeli politics is like watching a movie scene where you have a dark cave full of huge cockroaches, rats, bats, scorpions, and poisoned traps, eating anything healthy that enters.. What a panoply of the lowest common denominator - the dreck, filth, and chartzaf of Israeli society - the exact opposite of what Judaism, Zionism, & leadership stand for; & what the Jewish people dreamed, sweated, bled, & died for over thousands of years. And Israel wants to be seen & respected as a "normal" country (fun, too!)... Anywhere else with a modicum of integrity & 1/10th of a functioning democracy would have physically thrown Allmerde's ass, his sycophant Yes Men hangers on, & the entire incompetent, opportunistic dregs of Kadima out the door, even if his ass was Superglued to his chair; kicking, screaming, begging, & crying. Lucky Israeli builders use such hard, smooth, polished floor tiles - otherwise Allmerde & Kadima's nails would tear through the Knesset floors, as they hold on to power, and claw themselves closer to the public trough. MY APOLOGIES TO PIGS EVERYWHERE for the reference. Politics & leadership is a hard profession, & brings out the best & worst in people, but even if hidden behind double breasted suits, silk ties, & spin, you still have to have an idea (and constantly remember), a concept, & purpose for being involved - usually public service, or at least an constructive ideology. Not these disgusting exhibitions of naked self interest. Even if outside Israel the public behaviour is a more nuanced, polished & polite, & behind closed doors it is "violent"; even if in Israel there is the abrasiveness of a small population, intimacy and "family"; even if Israel has unique social, political, & security needs; I have NEVER seen anywhere, in a semi Western society, the outright level of admitted public corruption, incompetence, dishonesty, & abuse of the population & system demonstrated now. Every time I meet young Israelis; educated, intelligent, committed, involved (and often seeking to settle in Australia), the ONE uniform complaint I hear is about "The System", & institutionalised political incompetence, corruption, & lack of trust in it. Not belief or faith - trust. Not the sometimes funny "Protekzia", not physical danger, miluim, or economic difficulties. Not Haredi/Ashkenazi/Spharedi divides. It is the feeling & demonstration of a dream & enormous potential being ground underfoot & spat on. Not the disappointment of an hard, unfair world, & personal difficulties, but revulsion, disgust, & a desire to distance one's self from ugly, repulsive people (& I don't mean the general population!). As much as I love & believe in what Israel, was, is, & can be; as much as I believe in the essential goodness & abilities of Israelis; as much as I want to be cynical regarding "A nation gets the leaders it deserves"; something is very, very, sick, wrong, & dysfunctional in Israeli politics. People & nations usually need to go through horrific crisis's to engender change-maybe this is finally the catalyst to change. "All that is required for evil to triumph, is for good people everywhere to do nothing". It can't be fixed overnight, but a start has to be made. Kick ALL this Mafioso sleaze out; tarred, feathered, and on a rail! Make a start. Good people will appear - it is human nature to volunteer in a crisis. And - how about the "etrog" journalists start demanding a higher public standard - of themselves and politicians - rather than a__ kissing, accepting it as "normal", & stroking their own egoes by being "In the know"? You are citizens first, not hyenas. What is a priority: clean, competent, trustworthy governement. or some "insider nuance"? Shabbat shalom.

9. The public
Sagi ,   Israel   (07.25.08)
must boycott elections, either by not turning out to vote or by balloting with a blank. This is the only way to bring about a change. The rotten to the core political system which produces rotten to the core politicians must be changed and this is the only way. I hope and expect a movement will get under way to promote this idea. No vote by the public means a vote of no confidence in a system which must be changed. What we need is a revolution, a quiet one with no violence because if it is not done this way I predict that some time in the future it will be done with violence and this is something that I would not participate in and certainly would not be proud of. I also propose that someone from one of the party leaders swears under oath in a court of law by deposition of affidavit that after being elected to the post of Prime Minister he will force through legislation to change the system within a given time frame of three months and immediately after that hold elections under the new system. He will win hands down. Coalitions do not work, national unity Governments do not work. Stable leadership over a long period is the only type of Government that can command respect and confidence from the public.
10. Not Mofaz!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (07.25.08)
Mofaz is the Minister of Transport. He has done nothing for the transport system. The "Open Skies" Policy he announced has not been implemented. El Al is still more expensive than any other airline (Chanel 2 TV Survey this week). The railway system is deadlocked in a dispute with the Treasury and ata a time with rocketing fuel prices they have frozen the development of the railways and the electrification project. Anyone who watches Israel TV will see that Mofaz is even more paranoid than Olmert! Livni is the Foreign Minister and does her job well considering that Olmert has kept her out of the loop since he came to power. Many of our know it all overseas talkbackers condemn her and brand her with the same tar brush as Olmert. Livni was Sharon's person and this is why Olmert is so jealous. Livni was not to blame for the war. Chief of Staff (Ret) Mofaz was in a position to force Olmert to take the right decisions. After, he is a general. What did he do? Nothing. Livni at least didn't allow the US and the UK to accept the French resolution and managed to delay UN Resolution 1701's implementation. To those on the right, well, friends, let us not forget that Kadimah is an off shoot of Likud and the blame for the lack of vigilance on the Northern Border from 2000 until 2006 lies with them! People in glass houses ..........
11. Ramon ? Again ?
Nora ,   Tel Aviv   (07.25.08)
Livni, In case you replace Olmert at Kadima ,never take as your second that "Deep Throat" Ramon. He is as dangerous (Hatran) as Peres when he was second to Rabin.
12. Go Shaul Go... And nuke Iran

Most in Israel dont want KAdima in power anymore. We demand GENERAL ELECTIONS NOW!!! See if this one makes it as YNet censures most anti Olmert talkbacks!
14. Neither one, thank you.

15. You use the first names?
Are they your ,   personal friends?   (07.25.08)
Would anybody explain why a reporter thinks he can use first names in an artical about politics?
16. Shaul's got my vote.
(07.25.08)
17. Are there any Pinchas in the Parliament ?
YITZAK BEN SHLOMO ,   Singapore   (07.25.08)
The Lord spoke to Moses, saying: Pinchas the son of Eleazar the son of Aaron the kohen has turned My anger away from the children of Israel by his zealously avenging Me among them, so that I did not destroy the children of Israel because of My zeal. Therefore, say, "I hereby give him My covenant of peace. It shall be for him and for his descendants after him [as] an eternal covenant of kehunah, because he was zealous for his God and atoned for the children of Israel.”
18. Dov Khenin
Ivan ,   Haifa   (07.25.08)
Is a normal man.
19. mofaz/livni
sad ,   israel   (07.25.08)
they maybe clean but they surely are not PM potential. the only think that livni knows is how to comb her hair. mofaz got us into a war \nd 2 years later we are still paying the price and he is STILL in the government. do not understand how the man looks in the mirror every morning.
20. urgent
haim ,   ariel   (07.25.08)
mofaz as pm asap !!!
21. To #3 I wanted to write that!
jason white ,   afula,israel   (07.25.08)
Tweedly Dee and Tweedly Dumb, one is dumber than the other. But the dumbest will vote for kadima/labor/sh-ass!
22. Now we know whom Chaim Ramon kissed: Olmert
Jake   (07.25.08)
A picture is worth 1000 words.
23. Are we stupid? Tzipi of course!
Tikva   (07.26.08)
There shouldn't even be a choice. We want honest leadership now and Tzipi is the only option. Hurry up and become the PM already. I can't stand Olmert anymore.
24. to #3 Kadima does not need honest leadewrship
Alex ,   LA, USA   (07.26.08)
You are trying to destroy the foundation of Kadima. On the other hand, Livni is pathalogical lier. She even claimed that she was Mossad agent (she never was a Mossad agent). So she may be good for Kadima.
25. Names
Nice Bloke ,   Rochdale   (07.26.08)
Tzipi - that has to be coolest name ever.
26. If Kadima cannot decide
Avi   (07.27.08)
why not do this: why not have Mofaz serve for a half of the remaining time before elections, and then at a later time, have Livni serve the rest up to the general elections. At least that way, there will be an opportunity for each to showcase his/her talents to the public. More importantly, it will test whether Kadima continues or dissolves.
27. #24 - Mossad agent 'claim'
Tikva   (07.27.08)
Livni never claimed that she was a Mossad agent. The papers at home and abroad tried to glamourise the notion of Livni being a former spy and if you have read the reports, she has consistently been extremely reluctant to speak of her pass with Mossad. She has downplayed the reports and treats her stint with Mossad as a non-issue. She's no liar. Olmert, on the other hand, is.
28. As much as I'm not thrilled with Livni, she's far better
David ,   Rehovot   (07.27.08)
Mofaz is one of the heads of the IDF who let it decay to the point of its condition in the summer of 2006. It's not Peretz's fault, its Mofaz's. Then there's his tenure as Minister of Transportation, when he was quoted as saying people were foolish to use mass transit. He's another incompetent insider getting ahead on protexia. He needs to be opposed.
29. Olmert, Livni, Mofaz - who is better?
Rick ,   New York   (07.27.08)
I think Olmert and Livni are liers. Mofaz just wants to be PM. These 3 are the lowerst Israel has at the moment. Kadima is a corrupt organization. Why to attack Olmert when Kadima is his baby, and everyone who went with Kadima make money as Olmert, Livni and Mofaz did. They not joined the Kadima for ideology. Money and money was the reason those 3 are in Kadima.
30. livni or mofaz
fad ,   israel   (07.28.08)
they both are big ZEROS.
