If he's really heading back to business, we as a society lose.

Johnny ,   Stockholm Sweden   (07.25.08)
5. Gillerman : "Good people coming to contribute to...
Nora ,   Tel Aviv   (07.25.08)
to Israeli politics...was not a good experience." Yes, Mr. Gillerm,Good and able people like you are not welcome by the crooked politicians of our Knesset , as you have to play their game. What a sad but true conclusion of yours. Still, we are thankful to you for representing Israel in such a honorable way.
6. Gillerman knew how to publicly unmask UN's hypocrisy...
The Doc ,   Haifa, Israel   (07.25.08)
...and forced our enemies to thread carefully on the grounds of an otherwise terror-friendly, corrupt and suicidal organization. Wish we had many more Gillermans.
7. A Breath of Fresh Air
Yaron ,   USA   (07.25.08)
....in an otherwise stinky political environment in Israel. Thank you Mr Gillerman for having the resolve and intellect to tell it like it is in the halls of the corrupt and crooked. Israel needs effective and straight talking politicians like Mr Gillerman.
8. He should be the next Prime Minister
David ,   Los Angeles   (07.25.08)
This is what Israel needs as much as anything. I hope he would one day consider the post.

10. A hearty Thank You,
VK ,   Jerusalem   (07.25.08)
Mr. Ambassador, for all this hard work, for facing the hostility and the bias on the every-day level. Your contribution cannot be measured in words and we can only hope that 1. Your successor will do as much as he can to try and follow in your shoes and that 2. Even though you will go back to biz, you will offer your services in the crucial consultancy that our contry needs in order to manage its foreign politics!
11. Gillerman for PM!
Daniel ,   Tel Aviv   (07.25.08)
If he runs for the PM Office, Israel will be in a much better situation. Instead of having lackluster untrustworthy cretins in power; we might actually end up with an honourable and intelligent leader. A man who could navigate us through all the political channels rather than be a patsy.
12. Thank you from the Americann Jews!
Gilerman is a mensch ,   USA   (07.25.08)
13. Thanks
Tomas ,   Bsas,Argentina   (07.25.08)

14. Mr. G., reconsider, please
Meir ,   Toronto   (07.25.08)
Mr. Gillerman, you have made an outstanding contribution to Israel on the world stage. You exhibit many of the characteristics so needed and required for today's leaders. Please reconsider serving Israel in some official capacity.
15. McCain/Gillerman
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (07.25.08)
Good Lord, what a team that would be!!
16. " We are better than most of world" oh please.
socalmaverick ,   sunny so-cal   (07.25.08)
Israel was ranked only two spots above sudan and iraq as worst violators of human rights in 2006
17. Best politician in Israel?
Josh B ,   Rehovot, Israel   (07.25.08)
Gillerman is the best politician in the world. He's got my vote for PM if/when he runs.
18. #16, socalmaverick-you are vile
Sigfried S. Kuhn ,   Aberdeen   (07.25.08)
The problem with so many people is they think that because they say something, it becomes meaningful and the truth. #16's response is so absurd that it is hard to understand how anyone with a functioning brain could believe it. Obviously, #16 got its information from Arab propaganda or some psychotic radical site. What really takes the cake is that this fool writes this after Israel releases a monster who savagely murdered a 4 year old by bashing the child's head in after he ruthlessly killed her Father in front of her. In return Israel got the bodies of 2 IDF soldiers who were murdered by Hezbollah, Of course the Lebanese showed incredible class, according to #16's standards by treating the released child murderer as a hero.
19. I wish Israel would remember how to deter
Phil ,   US   (07.25.08)
Gillerman is an impressive man and it is a shame he is leaving Israel's government. However, I wish that Israel would get over this obsession with trying to please rather than winning and deterring the enemies that surround it. This is not to say that Israel should act like the psychopathic terrorists in deliberately murdering innocent civilians. However, the lengths that Israel goes to avoid world condemnation i hurting its ability to function as a nation in that brutal region. Actually, it doesn't matter what Israel does. No matter how angelic Israel behaves, its enemies still want it destroyed. As for enemies, I also include the Jew-haters of Europe, closet antisemites like Jimmy Carter, and the mainstream church groups like the Presbyterians, Methodists, and Episcopalians. These people would rather be dead than acknowledge that Israel is a vibrant democracy.
20. world-wide movement: Bring Gilad Home
member ,   Bring Gilad Home   (07.25.08)
Have you heard of Bring Gilad Home? It's a movement dedicated to bringing Gilad Shalit home - social activism using nothing but freedom of expression and the internet. Beginning Monday, July 28, 2008, they organize massive, daily, email efforts to flood the inboxes of the Israeli government demanding that Gilad be brought home. Check out their facebook group (Bring Gilad Home) or blog (bringgiladhome.blogspot.com) - there's a Hebrew version there as well. Contact them at bringgiladhome@gmail.com
21. # 16 What List Are You Using
Thomas   (07.25.08)
I can't find any that names Iraq as a human rights violator in 2006 given that it's been under occupation. Not to mention most of these lists mention Iran, Belarus, Cuba, North Korea, Venezuela, Myanmar, and China. Can't find one with Israel. Got a link?
22. Dan Gillerman, we still need you...
Joe ,   Ramat Gan   (07.25.08)
We still need you in the sphere of Middle Eastern politics. You are the only public figure I, as well as many other like-minded Israelis, can trust. With Iran going nuclear and a second Shoa appearing over the horizon, Israel, the Jewish people and civilization itself can ill-afford to have quick-witted, intelligent and moral persons such as yourself retire from the public arena. Although there may not be much in it for you to financially gain from, please reconsider your decision to leave politics for business...
23. have a child with them?
observer   (07.25.08)
is that the crusading version of Israeli campaign for presidency?
24. #16
Israeli   (07.25.08)
By who Hamas, Hizbollah, Iran? Or maybe Egypt, Syria, S.Arabia Maybe Zimbamwe, China, North Korea ,Burma, and a few other countries who are not getting the attention they deserve cause the Arabs are making the U.N concentrate all their efforts on Israel.
25. Lets make him leader of israel.
Moishe ,   Macher   (07.25.08)
Time to get rid of all the worn out nudnikim and elect MEN of high ranking. We will need proper leaders for the upcomming battles with the terrorists.
26. You did us proud Dan! you ARE a cut above the rest
Talula ,   Israel   (07.25.08)
All the very very best to you.
27. THANKYOU GILLERMAN
DANIEL ,   TEL AVIV   (07.25.08)
28. #16 - You must have gotten this list from an arghile cafe...
Joe ,   Ramat Gan   (07.25.08)
You must have gotten this list from an arghile cafe in Westwood or Orange County. Never trust people who profit from giving you cancer...
29. 16. by anti semetics like you...the UN
