I am christian-born in a very pro-israel family. In 1977 was the first of my nine visits to Israel and I've seen it changed since then. When I saw the documentary "Checkpoint" I understood the need for safety but I was wondering why IDF had to humiliate people like that. Though my heart is with Israel always. Despite of my doubts I am however very proud that Israel has a free press that is keeping an eye on human rights for even the enemy. Israeli people have enough common sense to critisize their own behaviour. Compared to people next to them that use to celebrate every jewish victim that is a good thing!

Israeli and Palestinians need both a Palestinian state, the sooner the better. On the Palestinian side there will be no more excuses for terrorism as form of resistance to the occupation. Any action of terrorism will be interpreted as an act of hostility toward Israel coming from a bordering state, with the expected consequences. I think Palestinian will be commited and good-advised to clean their own house, for their own safety and prosperity ... On Israeli side there will be no more embarassement with regard to the distinction between terrorism and resistance, that means the Palestinian state will be directly considered responsible of their acts, and it will have to take every thinkable measure to prevent terrorism, as Israel is doing now. Of course Israel must support a strong Palestinian state so far it wants to be her ally and good neighbour, and of course the Israeli state and future the palestinian state must collaborate in all domains of anti-terrorism. Israel must take the risk and give the Palestinians a chance, I believe.

Of course you are right that there are fanatic terroristic groups who aim to get rid of Israel, but Israel must try to find a way of compromise with the moderate Palestinians who are ready to collaborate with the Israeli and live in peace with them, in the interest of both Israeli and Palestinians! Together you will be able to manage the problem of terrorism. I think its the most realistic and practicable way to assure peace on the long term in ME.
