61. # 51 Jake You're Wrong
Thomas   (07.30.08)
The Lebanese Jews are among the most anti-Israeli Jews. Even though most Jews in the Middle East, as in Europe, opposed Zionism at one time, they are the only ones to have joined an Arab army for the express purpose of fighting Israel in 1948. Even when they moved from Lebanon, seeking a better life, Israel was the last place they thought of. The thing the Lebanese Muslims don't realize is how insanely loyal they are to Lebanon. This Efraim told the truth. That he may have been nervous speaking to a foreign press agent is sensible given the ill-feelings that exist against Israel following 2006. Besides how hard would it be to find him. How many member of the Lebanese Jewish council can there be?

You contradict and delude yourself by writing your rubbish. Besides,if these people who dub themselves Jews, want to live like non-Jews, Inshallah, let them go their way. But don't blame Israel for your inaptitude, lack of decision and sheer stupidity.
63. You're just scared of Hizbullah...
Lebanese Jew ,   Israel   (07.30.08)
...like the rest of the Lebanese. I doubt if they really mean such blasphemy.
64. #20 - Thank GOD you are not living off my IRS taxes like ...
The Doc ,   Haifa, Israel   (07.30.08)
... many "Shomrei Thorah" Jews do here. Don't moan about "jobs" in Israel. If you're finding difficult to get a job here (except for "shnor" and stealing of course) it means that you have no relevant qualifications. For a Jew, bashing Israel from abroad is the lowest form of cowardice and stupidity. It shows how much you know about Israel and its role for Jews. Now, after throwing your manure at us it is my turn to ask YOU: what about YOUR "Ahvas Israel"?
65. #18: Shocking hypocrisy
The Doc ,   Haifa, Israel   (07.30.08)
WOW and wow again! What a load coming from somebody not connected to Israel at all! Funny you're talking about loud-mouthing knee-jerking while spilling venom from the comfort of your virtual couch. What a hypocrite! But it is so fitting for a rabid Islamo-Leftist to join in the racist hyena chorus and bashing Israel at every opportunity. You better take care of YOUR problems "English Person". You have plenty of them at home!
66. Lebanon is Jewish Land occupied by Arabs
Avi   (07.30.08)
it's so unfortunate that a Jew in Lebanon cannot express his/her views on what is really part of Israel. The issue begs a larger question. If we cannot deal simply with the Arabs and other minorities well within the current size and scope of Israel, the less we would be able to do so if Israel were the size that it should be-Lebanon, Syria, Irag up to the Euphrates. Face it, all that area is currently Arabs and others. Millions of them. Israel then would become a majority Arab country. And it's an issue that needs to be dealt with as a society.
67. #61, Thomas, I think you exaggerate
Jake   (07.30.08)
Lebanese Jews were initially reluctant to immigrate to Israel, true. They were loyal to the Lebanese state, true. Some of them fought against Israel in 1948, true. But along with that, you can be sure there was a kind of 'taqiyah' involved, because traditional Middle Eastern Jewish communities attached great significance to the return of Jewish sovereignty to Eretz Israel and Jerusalem, bordering on the miraculous. Also, you mentioned in some earlier post "Didn't Israel just send a Lebanese Jew back to Lebanon for spying for Hezbollah?" Nasim Nasser can hardly be considered a Jew, despite immigrating to Israel under the "Law of Return". His mother was a Jew but his father was a Shi'ite Moslem, and both he and his mother converted to Islam. His family back in Lebanon are all Shi'ite Moslems. If this is your benchmark for how to judge Lebanese Jewish affinities, then it is no wonder you came to such a conclusion.
68. diminution was after the 1982 (Israeli) invasion of Lebanon?

what did the Israelis did to their fellow Jews? they had instead converted SLA thugs invited to their home! Hashem's Glory to the Jewish People. Glory to G-d, our Lord; Lord Balfour
69. Gee Jake
Nadine ,   Beirut, LB   (07.30.08)
You talk like you know every details of Lebanese Jews' lives. Unless you have spent time with Lebanese Jews here in Lebanon, or better yet, stepped foot in Lebanon, spare us your god-given Lebanese "facts". You do NOT speak for Lebanese Jews, THAT is a fact.
70. #69, Do you think I am making this up?
Jake   (07.31.08)
Since all the Lebanese Jews except a handful are living outside of Lebanon, I think it is you who is lacking access to the facts. I do not claim to be an expert on Lebanon. However, since my ancestors were Jews who never the left the region, and since a branch of my family had even been part of the former Jewish community in Lebanon, I think I have an inkling about some aspects of Jewish life in the Arab world, and about the image Jews had to present to the surrounding society. Just to give you an example, in Halab in 1947, the local Arabs ransacked the Jewish quarter and burned the synagogue. Just one example. What do you think a Syrian Jew in Syria in the last 60 years would say if asked by an outsider of his affinities? He will say: "I am a proud Arab. I am against Israel, like all Arabs." Do you believe that's what he thinks in his heart of hearts? Once, the Chief Rabbi of Syria was interviewed in Damascus by the the National Geographic and gave a very similar answer. In 1994 he and most of the remainder of the Jews in Syria escaped. Rabbi Hamra went to the US and Canada, before permanently moving to Israel. Here is an article about the woman who rescued the Syrian Jews. http://jewishrefugees.blogspot.com/2006/11/unsung-canadian-who-saved-syrian-jewry.html

I am not a Jew and yet Israel means a lot to me. I love Israel! Shame on those Lebanese Jews who say Israel is an enemey. What did HaShem say in the Torah about those who cursed Israel?
72. why are yehoodah in lebanon?
jimmie c boswell ,   denver co usa 80218   (07.31.08)
it's quite simple, HaShem G-D said so. since none of you are in physicial charge fo where you are stationed here in TheTorah now. even if you refuse to truly admit why, they are there and not in ysrael. and their faith in TheG-D of TheTorah here in IT. has more to do with why they are commanded to still, not be in Ysrael. since right now is is six of one or half a dozen of the other, no difference not realy true to HaShem G-D. shalomcha vshalomech???,?...
73. 3. JEWS OF LEBANON
RAPHAEL CORDOVERO ,   MONTRÉAL CANADA   (08.01.08)
iN 1937, SEVERAL HUNDREDS OF THE FOREMOST JEWS IN GERMANY DECLARED IN A PAID ADVERTISEMENT IN THE GERMAN PRESS : « WE REGARD OURSELVES, ALONG WITH THE OVERWHELMING MAJORITY OF GERMAN JEWS, AS MEMBERS OF THE GERMAN, NOT OF THE JEWISH PEOPLE.» (YES, IN 1937 !)
74. Shalom/Salam to Lebanese Jews
Suha ,   Beirut, Lebanon   (08.02.08)
As you can see from comments by other Lebanese in this section, there are many who look forward to the day when you do not feel like you have to hide anymore. Hopefully the renovation of Magan Avraham will be the symbolic catalyst for this process. I have often visited Jewish sites in Lebanon that are indeed in disrepair. But what this article fails to mention is that I never saw any signs of desecration despite the long years of a brutal civil war. There is no way of telling how much the Lebanese comments in this section reflect the wider attitude, but the practice shows that at least there is hope.
75. Respect
Amaleya ,   Beirut Lebanon   (12.29.08)
Yisroeli, the Jewish Lebanese poeple are preservign the rights of the community to a country where they lived for thousands of years. Jews went back to live in Germany after the Holocaust. What do u have to say about that? Lebanese Jews can not suport Israeli government but they are Israelis and they are very jewish and an example of Tolerance and how a Jew is a Light to the Nations.
76. Ignorance
