1. Bibi incorrupt?
Nadav ,   Misgav   (07.28.08)
He spent tenth of thousand of dollars for a suite in London including Theatre and shopping. At that we ate Hezbollah Rockets each day. His wife is flying on the frequent flyer points he earned using Tax payers money. NU?
2. If Dayan joins Likud, it becomes no better than Kadima&Labor
Miriam ,   Israel   (07.28.08)
Dayan, like Sharon and Olmert, wants to destroy Israel and chase the Jews out of their homes. We cannot vote for Kadima and not for Likud and, of course, not for Labor. So we'll all vote for Shas and hope they’ll win.

Spending money on a suite in London might be bad judgement, but it is certainly not corruption. Was it even bad judegment? Where would you want the leader of the Israeli opposition to stay? London is an expensive city, especially in the summer (which is when these events took place). Corruption is using your political power to gain favors for others in return for financial (or other) rewards. Like him or loathe him, this is NOT what Bibi did, and is almost certainly what Olmert has been doing for years.
4. Corruption is...
Xaxam ,   Rehovot, Israel   (07.28.08)
Corruption is when the Jerusalem building contractors were the biggest fans of the abstract art of Mrs. Aliza Olmert and paid fortunes for the right to hang her pictures on their walls. Oh no, sorry... The true art is priceless. Nobody can say that the piece of cloth is not worth tens of thousands of dollars paid for it. Who can attach a price tag to the Black Square by Malevitch? ;-)
5. Netanyahu for prime minister
Judah ,   Golan Heights,ISRAEL   (07.28.08)
He was only in his mid-40's the first time around. This time he will be much more expierenced and wiser. If he was prime minister now then Iran could be dealt with.
6. #3 Amen, and Amen, and Amen!!

Getting a hotel in London, near to the media and tv channels is not cheap. He coudl have stayed at a holiday inn, and commute 1 hr each way to the tv studios. Or he coudl have stayed at the house of someone in the local Jewish or expat community. But no other Israeli leader does that , so why should he? Peres is a fat cat, yet the left wing never say anything about his financial doings. And one more thing - Bibi was doing a PR service to Israel, somehtign that the bumbling fools such as Livni. Olmert, Peretz etc can not and will not ever be able to do.
8. Editor: What is "incorrupted"?
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (07.28.08)
Please CHECK YOUR ENGLISH or at least be bright enough to use a spelling checker! There is no such word as "incorrupted" in the English language! He should take of the "blinkers". What General (Ret) said translated into English is "with integrity" or "incorruptibility" (Ynet Hebrew). Maybe Uzi Dayan is looking at Bibi Netanyahu through the same binoculars at former Defense Minitser Amir Peretz used!

#2 Vote for Shas ? So you can be bought too then ? What's wrong with NRRP/NU ?

Concerned Israeli   (07.28.08)
Shas is just as corrupt as Olmert, if not more so. Why have they not left Olmert's coalition after repeatedly threatening to do so? I'll tell you why. Because they too can be bought, just as long as Olmert promises to scratch their back by promoting their one issue agenda - orthodox Sphardic Jews. Shas doesn't represent the State of Israel's interests, they represent their own and are willing to stay in bed with the most corrupt Israeli politician in history to do it. You can waste your vote on Shas, but I'm going to vote for a party that fights corruption with a leader that has Israel's national interests at heart - the Likud.
11. #10 The difference between Shas & Olmert
Miriam ,   Israel   (07.28.08)
Shas keeps threatening to topple the coalition if child support payments are not increased and if the government won't pay yeshivas. In other words, Shas’ only concern is the welfare of his brothers. On the other hand Olmert is just the opposite. He received bribes and did fraud for his personal interest – his trips abroad, hotels, etc. and all that matters to him is HIS PERSONAL position as Prime Minister – even if he knows that he lacks the qualification of leadership and even if it means giving away most or even all of Israel. Quite obvious difference between the two: Olmert being the selfish one while Shas the one caring about his Jewish brothers. Now that's leadership! And thanks to Rabbi Ovadia Yosef shlit"a for being behind it.

We all know that Olmert is corrupt. I was talking about the difference between Shas and Likud though. You're right, Shas takes care of its "brothers" - orthodox Sphardic Jews, as I said before. They promote higher yeshiva budgets, exemptions from teaching modern sciences in schools, more welfare for the orthodox sector, etc. But that's all they take care of. They have no clue about national security, the economy, or even social justice outside their "brotherly" bubble. On the other hand, the Likud considers ALL OF ISRAEL its brothers. It promotes a strong Israel in the face of terror and Iran, with a carefully thought out policy of deterrence and retaliation. Bibi is also the best economist in the country and has grand ideas to privatize and modernize our markets which would make ALL OF US more prosperous. My point is that the Likud is a party that looks out for the NATIONAL INTEREST, while Shas is just a nepotist party that looks out for its own, narrow, "brotherly" interests. I don't know about you, but I want all of Israel to prosper.
