1. The USA fight against terror.
Robert Bernier   (07.29.08)
By refusing to acknowledge its importance in the international fight against the global jihad, Israel's leaders have underplayed Israel's importance for US national security. Generally speaking Israeli leaders act as though the US is doing us a favor by supporting Israel militarily and diplomatically. But the fact of the matter is that Israeli defeats and general weakening are dangerous for America's national security interests both at home and around the world because Israel and the US are perceived by our common foes as two sides of the same coin. The retreats from Gaza, south Lebanon and northern Samaria led to the creation of safe havens for both local and global jihadists from which they not only attack Israel but train to conduct attacks throughout the region and world. 2. America please dont waste money on iron dome
zionist forever   (07.29.08)
Please America dont give funding for iron dome it will be throwing good money after bad for a project that was created out of political motivation because after Lebanon Peretz & Olmert decided to give the go ahead to develop something from scratch to look like they were doing something. So far its cost $300 million in development and its still at least one year away from becoming operational. Interceptors cost $30,000 each the terrorists fire an average of 3 kassems at a time so 3 kassems a day over a week is over $600 thousand. Approxomatly 2.5 million a month. At that rate the question will be what will we run out of first interceptors or the money to operate the system. Its not practical for battlefield use because the short flight time of a kassem from Gaza to a town like sderot the kassen will have landed befopre the interceptor reaches it. Also because of the fact the kassems fly at low altitudes the rocket would be intercepted at a low altitude so when the interceptor hits the kassem rather than have flying shrapnel from 1 small kassem we also have shrpnel falling from the much larger interceptor which increases the risk not lessening it. The iron dome idea is trying to create a small scale arrow which isnt going to work arrow has minutes to track and intercept missles and it happens at a high altiutude so there is no shrapnel risk and the enemies dont have thousands of missles which they fire everyday. The solution is the phlanx rapid fire cannon in use in Iraq its cheap to buy and run, there is no need for technology refining and there is no increased shrapnel, Also the laser system the IDF is looking into buying that allows the kassem to be shot down quickly and cleanly. Both off the shelf weapons The IDF should also be laying a minefield on the Gaza border to create a buffer limiting the distance that the terrorists can get at least giving more reaction time.

4. deja vu?
tom ,   toronto, canada   (07.30.08)
all this talk of americans defending israel reminds me of "scuds" and "patriots", and another bush administration that pledged to defend israel (to the last israeli). but i also remember that the patriot batteries failed to successfully intercept a single scud rocket, and the ones that landed on israeli cities were "necessary and acceptable risks" (for the americans). put not your faith in americans, unless you're prepared to be sold down the river!
5. Barak et ses salades!!! just trying to reassure Israelis.

Ilan ,   Ariel   (07.30.08)
That is the only way we will be safer, after Ehud sub1 and sub2 are removed from positions of responsibility that they do not know how to use.

11. selling out qassams?
observer   (07.30.08)
No!, after a second thought; a salvo of the short range missiles would deceive and neutralize a missile alert system ....and consumes it.
12. The spin from Barak.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (07.30.08)
Actually, his "mission" was pretty much a failure. So when he says in two months, we'll be safer, he's just lying. The US brushed him off, gave him a few toys, & sent him on his way. The real purpose of this increased security was to delay any possible military strike on Iran. The Americans made it quite clear they will not participate in any military action nor will they offer any support. According to Debka, the new system gives us five minutes to react to an Iranian missile attack. In un-diplomatic language, this is called BS. The truth of the matter is that in two months, Iran will be two months closer to a nuclear capability. So how does that make us safer, Mr Barak?
13. A simple shield around missle engine will evade detection!
Tayfun_Turkey ,   Istanbul   (07.30.08)
If you detect by motor start how will you distinguish them from motorb?
14. King Ehud I's continuing reign
Moshe Aharon Jacobs ,   Modiin Illit - Israe   (07.30.08)
See how easily one can be misled by a headline. I thought that we're going to be safer because he'll be out of his position as defense minister.
15. Israel safer if McCain wins election, good riddance rice.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (07.30.08)
16. US, not Israel created Iran threat; US should deal with it.
David Turner ,   Richmond, USA   (07.30.08)
"In this respect, (providing early warning of potential missile launch)the Americans have fulfilled their commitment, etc." Where the Americans have failed to fulfill their commitment is regarding their responsibility, 1. for creating the conditions leading to the Iranian regional threat and, 2. to accepting responsibility for protecting American interests in the region, oil and US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Because US allies are the primary target of the Iranian threat, not Israel. And the US is demonstrating its failure as deterrent and defense shield, which further erodes the US position in the ME. It is US responsibility, not Israel, to confront Iran. Anything short of this is continuing Bush duplicity, hypocrisy and failure.
17. I don't think so. Last night, I went to a lecture that had
Rivkah   (07.30.08)
several speakers, including former FBI agent Paul Williams, the author of books on radical Islam and the nuclear hazards to America and Israel from that. He discussed a lot of nuclear materials and state of the art nuclear bombs that have been found, one in Israel when a van driven by a Pakistani driver who was bleeding profusely from exposure to the radiation of the bomb he was driving from Jordan over the Allenby Bridge to Ramallah. If the radiation had not killed him before he delivered his payload, a plutonium bomb would have been delivered to Palestinians in Ramallah to nuke Jews with in Israel. That one was discovered. I noticed that water wells in America in many, many places have been poisoned with polonium-210 and/or uranium and people who drink water from shallow wells (10 meters) are dying like flies from cancer, thinking they don't need a water filter at the tap or that they should get tested for heavy metals by sending a hair and fecal sample to Doctors Data Inc. in Illinois on prescription to find out how radioactive they are. They don't know to chelate out the radiation and other heavy metals with RepairACell tablets and Detoxamine EDTA rectal suppositories for six to 12 months. I don't think there will be peace in two months. With fifty peace treaties signed by Israel, there have only been failures. This next one will bring another failure since only the Jewish Messiah can bring peace.
