1. MK VILAN WOULD NOT SPEAK SO
sergio HaDaR tezza ,   ISRAEL   (07.30.08)
IF TO BE EXPELLED WERE TEN COMMUNIST FAMILIES FROM MISGAV AM TO SAVE MONEY FOR DEFENSE.
2. Finally! Say what you want about "fanatical" settlers,BUT...
Stewart ,   USA   (07.30.08)
it was the state that encouraged them to settle. The fact that they are religious and passionate should be irrelevant. Their reactions to evacuation needed to be expected and anticipated. The army, police, and state could have handled it better if they took the necessary time AND MONEY to diffuse rather than aggravate the situation more than necessary as the world looked on. (Hindsight is 20/20 vision ... : ain't it great.)
3. Knesset and evacuee enquiry
I.Kemp ,   Nahariya Israel   (07.30.08)
Orlev is right. Whatever one thinks or does not think about the Settlements the Govt. treatment of those it evacuated is UNFORGIVABLE. May the lesson be learned that any Govt now should never nor can ever be able to do any such thing ever again.
4. Should not have happened.
Petra ,   usa   (07.30.08)
When the state okays a move( as did Sharon when the settlements were estabblished) and then changes it mind, you have problems. Why were they moved at all? To make Bush and Rice happy? Why weren't better arrangements made BEFORE they moved the settlers? What will Israel do to make it right? They are responsible for their citizens welfare and frankly, they are failing their own people.
5. Stewart #2: What reactions?
Steve ,   US   (07.30.08)
You and I must have watch entirely different expulsions. Passionate? Gush Katif essentially rolled over without any resistance. This act of unmitigated ethnic cleansing of Jews from the land of Israel, was a cake walk for these corrupt politicians like Sharon, Olmert, Livni, etc. What was there to diffuse. I saw pictures of Gush Katif residents praying with soldiers about to expel them from their homes. "Fanatical settlers." Where do you come up this nonsense?
6. #5 - Were you even in Israel at the time?!
Adam ,   Raanana, Israel   (07.30.08)
Or were you doing couch politics from your living room in the U.S.? Of course there were some fanatics, yes there was some violence and overall it was absolutely horrible. You try find any group of people who will take kindly to the fact that they are being evicted from homes that the government asked them to settle in in the first place only to give the house their parents built to the enemy. As I said before, this is a good thing but its about time that Olmert's tail stop's wagging the dog. Covering every issue you ignored is not going to save your from the ire of the people or the law.
7. Is Vilan part of the insignificant party ? Wonder why ?
Harry   (07.30.08)
8. Adam from Raanana
m   (07.30.08)
Way to go Adam, this is the only way to shut up eveyone who disagrees with you. You don't live here, you have no right to speak (if you disagree with me). So self righteous you must be right.
9. HEARTLESS Villain, Gal-On & Other Lunatic Leftists'
Miriam ,   Israel   (07.30.08)
only concerns are EXPELLING Jews from their rightful Jewish homes in our own Jewish homeland, DESTROYING JEWISH HOMES and outposts, and GIVING AMNESTY TO TRUE ZIONISTS, lovers of Israel, who were illegally and brutally arrested JUST FOR protesting the injustice done to Jews, while releasing terrorists with blood on their hands and rewarding them with weapons and armored trucks. Any doubt that the Leftists are not lunatics, heartless, cruel and a real danger to Israel? The best of all, is their claim that it’s all in the name of “democracy” when over 80% were against the expulsion. If anything, Israel is a communist dictatorship regime – certainly not democratic with self-appointed judges, ministers and dictators as prime minister who fire ministers against their intoxicated mad decrees. When will the citizens of Israel wake up and get rid of this mad government? The longer they’re around, the more damage they cause to this country. Hashem Yerachem!
10. The Results of the Expulsion
Brod ,   USA   (07.30.08)
was more rocket attacks from Hamastan at Israel. The expulsion was just aiding the enemy to advance the crusading of Jihadism on Israel by the Islamist-Jihadists. The AntiSemite/Islamist-Jihadist DOGs continue to pressure Israel to give in to the dark forces. The Charter of the Islamist-Jihadists call for the Destructionn of Israel by way of Deception, Manipulation and Aggression. It is time Israel opens its eyes and stop the madness of cowing and caving in to the pressures of the AntiSemites and Islamist-Jihadists. Israel should have strong patriotic leaders who will protect and defend Israel's national security interests, survival and existence in the face of unrelenting external challenges. Leaders who cow with foreign countries to facilitate the usurpation of Israel's biblical and historic homeland by the Islamist-Jihadists should be charged with treason. It is time Israelis open their eyes and be vigilant against internal and external forces that are detrimental to their national security interests. The ''peace' of the Islamist-Jihadists is the destruction of Israel. Genuine peace can only be achieved between two peoples or nations without precondition such as land for peace. Land for peace is FAKE peace. Israel should be reminded of what Islamist-Jihadist scholar, Omar Abdel Rahman, said, "There is no surah called 'Peace.' Jihad and killing are the head of Islam. If you take them out, you cut off the head of Islam." (p.24, "Islam and Terrorism" [2002] by Mark A. Gabriel, PhD).
11. #6: you completely missed the import of my response
Steve ,   US   (07.30.08)
I was responding to #2 whom I thought implied the residents of Gush Katif were fanatics and extremists. I helped Friends of Gush Katif. I was sorely disappointed there was virtually NO resistance to the immoral ethnic cleansing. Like I said, it was a cake-walk for Sharon. He expelled these people with the greatest of ease. Leaders of Gush Katif decided there would be no resistance. Big mistake in my view. What do you think?
12. Steve, US media + Rueters(#!*!#) some Israeli/US ...........
Stewart ,   USA   (07.30.08)
Steve, US media only showed us the worst and most sensational conflicts. I remember they used foreign footage from services like Rueters -- now THERE'S a REALLY balanced source. YNet and some other Israeli/US editions revisited the worst incidents later. SOUNDS LIKE I GOT VERY BALANCED COVERAGE: HUH? My only issue at this point may be that the resettlement has not been managed or the people compensated to a higher expectation than I would like to see from the state of Israel. Here is an interesting thought, Ben Gurion warned his generals not to take these strategic buffer areas for what seemed to him to be very sound political reasons regarding a future Arab situation. However, militarily it made the utmost strategic sense. Looking back, what went wrong: pressure from the US, an intrandigent terrorist Palestinian leadership, lack of Israeli will under international pressure, outside foreign intervention by Iran, Hezbollah, and Hamas .... Oh, you might want to throw in the naivety and condescension, of Jimmy Carter's legacy building from Camp David on. Tell me this is you can opine. Did Olmert really blow the second Lebanon war when the U.S. supposedly leaked that it wanted Hezbollah neutralized.
13. Anotheer blah blah fest about what was and what
Al   (07.30.08)
should have been. Please, you MKs are so full of yourselves; you can’t see the forest for the trees. Israel is unraveling at a furious pace. Look at the hard stats. Over 1M Israeli Jews have left the country over the past 40 years alone. 2) Your youth in general can be best summed up as being unbalanced. 3) You do not have a culture of work and of discipline. 4) Your culture of schnorrers has rendered you “yesterdays Jew”. 5) Your constant infighting has effectively rendered any and all laws passed by the Knesset as mere suggestions. 6) You have no effective control over your own country..Arabs and other usurpers have made your country uninhabitable. 7) You have allowed vast segments of your society to coast without paying anything back to the society. 8) You negate the fact that your strategic position has been compromised due to the ineffectiveness of your army. 9) You allow yourselves to be governed by a leadership that at best can be described as criminal. 10) Your own people are starting to lose faith and are leaving especially well educated ambitious people. Hummus and a hankering for Bamba can’t keep them down on the farm. What to do... Start being a proud nation willing to defend that which is important. Tell the Arabs in no uncertain terms that you will not tolerate any and all violence. Harness all of your society to pull the wagon. Shut down all welfare payments save for people who are indeed in need. You must move to a culture of work and thrift. Any other way you will sink. The Arabs see you as weak and are on the attack. Its time to get to work and stop the blah blah.
14. #8 - m
Adam ,   Raanana, Israel   (07.30.08)
I never once said that someone who doesn't live here has no right to speak but watching something on tv and living it are two different things. The media are not an accurate representation of reality! The point that I made was clearly missed as you obviously find reading in a linear fashion to be somewhat mentally challenging or are just trolling the talkbacks looking for a fight.

I apologize, I did miss what you were saying but I disagree with you that there wasnt a resistance. The Disengagement sent ripples through Israeli communities and it is still being felt today.

18. EVACUEES FROM GUSH KATIF AND NOT GAZA
Deborah ,   AKKO   (07.30.08)
IS IT TO MUCH TO CALL THESE FROM GUSH KATIF AND NOT THE GAZA STRIP
19. Late is better than never
Avi   (07.30.08)
What the commission needs to review is what has been done so far and to whom. In other words, who has received any benefits and who has yet to receive any. Right now, it doesn't sound like much has been done, and I fear there may not be many records kept as to who got what and who still needs to receive compensation for the loss. More importantly, it's important they devise a good strategy for putting the settlers back into society-preferably doing what they did before on the land. I don't see that they would do as well in Tel Aviv.
20. commission
colin   (07.30.08)
One way to force silence on the public outcry is to form a commission of enquirey. It is a straight out bullshit cover up of the corruption ,stealing, underhand deals and delay that this corupt Olmert crowd are doing,How much has gone to private bank accounts? How much was spent and is being spent on beaurocracy? How many jobsw for friends were allocated? How many will stay with these ballooned jobs after the conclision of the supposed settlement of the gaza refugees (ISRAELI) that were thrown out thier homes by this atrocious government?Let the police do an investigation.

22. Thousands of Rockets Fired on Gaza Jews. VICTIMS PUNISHED!
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (07.31.08)
10,000 Jews had their homes destroyed and viciously ethnically cleansed from Gaza for the sole reason they are Jews and not Muslim. Evicted from Land that NEVER belonged to Arabs. The Jewish refugees were forced into poverty-their high tech greenhouses gifted to barbaric, implacable enemies. Many Jewish refugees had to live in tents for a long time-still struggle for survival. Muslim mobs celebrated by desecrating and destroying the sacred, holy places-synagogues where Jews honored and worshipped G-D. Another victory for cruel global jihad! The Jew-cleansed areas were transformed into rocket-firing sites into Israeli cities. They call this the peace process. US/EU/UN, Muslims and other racist Jew-haters demand that Jews are ruthlessly ethnically cleansed from the Jewish ancestral homeland where Jewish prophets walked-Judea and Samaria, including Jews` first city-Holy Hebron and Jerusalem the Holy City. Protect the Free World! Not one inch of Jewish Land to the genocidal enemy!
