1. Peres keeping shabbat?
(08.08.08)
Maybe he should move to china if thats so. Unfortunalty sometimes it takes a Jew to leave his land to realize his Jewishness and recognize its importance.
2. A minister ?
Fussion ,   Israel   (08.08.08)
P A T H E T I C !!
3. He missed the opening on purpose!
JAyyy ,   Israel   (08.08.08)
That is obvious! Enough is enough. Sack these traitors Arab MK's. Its a disgrace they represent Israel when they call themselves Palastinian and fight for that bogus cause! Peres is just as disgraceful, especially for his latest efforts in signing the release of terrorist prisoners for nothing in return! The whole government is slowly destroying Israel! General elections are needed NOW!!!!
4. TWO WEEKS VACATION IN CHINA AT THE EXPENSE OF THE TAXPAYER
Sergio ,   Israel   (08.08.08)
that's what you get when because of political corruption certain people get ministerial positions that they are not qualified AT ALL to fill.
5. Majadele late
PMB ,   Rehovot   (08.08.08)
Majadele should be immediately recalled and his fired from his position. No honestly thinking person can believe that he arrived late by accident!! But, we still persist in living lies and fooling ouselves that the arabs living among us have any type of allegiance to the Jewish State. Wake up!!
6. peres
sas ,   israel   (08.08.08)
from the ceremony went to eat ham and shrimps.
7. The internal Arab danger ignored.
Robert Bernier   (08.08.08)
If the arabs living in Israel will go on with their opposition to the Jewish State, they, and they alone, will be the ones to be blamed if a Israeli government in the future will consider them as a fifth column and treat them as one. If they accept Israel as their home, compared to all the other Arab countries, Israel will continue to be a blessing to them
8. Kol hakavod to Peres
Michel ,   Jerusalem   (08.08.08)
This means respect to Israel, not like Majadele.. But of course, nobody will fire him as the Govt needs his support..
9. israeli anthem
Peace Lover ,   Palestine   (08.08.08)
The Israeli anthem is exclusive to jews and in particular zionist jews. How do u expect an arab to relate to an anthem which talks about zionist aspirations?? as a symbol of a state, the anthem should articulate theb hopes and aspirations of ALL its citizens regardless of religion or ethnicity. Time to change the anthem to a more inclusive one perhaps?? May be God saves Peres will be a good one for now???
10. AN ARAB DIPLOMAT AND A .................
EDWINA KEN   (08.08.08)
PRESIDENT THAT ADVOCATES FOR ANYYONE AND EVERYONE BUT, ISRAEL. In this case a mamoth, collosal, vile human rights transgressor AND band of commie thugs !
11. Spirit of sport , citizenship and double allegency
Franklin ,   Paris   (08.08.08)
Majadele have missed the first priority of his présence in Beijing. He must return to Israel by the first plane and give his "explanations".
12. This is outrageous!
Jerusalemite ,   the Capital   (08.08.08)
He is representating ISRAEL and its government and nothing more important can there be than to make sure to attend the official opening and the representation of Israel, this is such a chuzpa and a dangerous sign of the alienaton of Israeli Arabs from the State!
13. Majadele should be recalled and fired! Not ifs or buts!
redmike ,   Tel Aviv   (08.08.08)
14. Hatikva is in some context, meaningless!
Observer   (08.08.08)
What has Hatikva "The Hope" to do with the Arab Palestinian population of Israel? It simply does not represent them in any way or shape or form. It is like asking the native American indians to sing for the land of the free (America)!!
15. Imagine a charedi would pull of this stunt !!!
Harry   (08.08.08)
What would Ynet and its TB's reaction be ??? Remember this is supposed to be an Israeli minister and his bill is being paid by the Israely Gov't. This Gov't sinks from the head all the way to the crap Majadele. Remeber his credentials for being minister is just as appaling.
16. #9 - your first point is 100% right
Adam Shapiro ,   Israel   (08.08.08)
#9 - your first point is 100% right! The Israeli anthem is exclusive to Jews - "nefesh Yehudi homiya." It is the downfall of the government of Israel to expect any Muslim or any non-Jew infact to relate to this anthem. R' Meir Kahane expressed this succinctly in his writings! The answer however is not to change the anthem to one that, "articulates the hopes and aspirations," of Jews and non-Jews. It should reflect the reason that the State was born in the first place - as a homeland for the Jewish people. For this reason, any non-Jew that has a problem with the anthem should leave the country! Your hopes and aspirations are reflected in the area from which you claim to hail - Palestine. Your hopes and aspirations are not to live in peace side by side with Israel but rather to destroy Israel and replace her with an Arab racist and sexist country (as the rest of them are.) Who are you trying to kidd?
17. Majadele has dishonored the FLAG.
David ,   Brazil   (08.08.08)
Foreign Minister Livni must assert her authority on this matter immediately. If she aspires to become Israel's next Prime Minister, the very least she MUST DO, is to send that arab minister packing PROMPTO. That, would be a good omen in regard to the vital and paramount issues she will have to address. The coming days will show the Jewish Israelis the real image of Mrs. Livni's resolve. It is totally unacceptable for a member of a democratic government, to disrespect the country's flag. This time, that infamous motto, "only in Israel" is definitely not applicable.
18. Inciting heading...
Rami ,   Nazareth, Israel   (08.08.08)
The heading implies that the minister was late on purpose while it is obvious that this was a simple miscommunication issue whith the chinese. once again ynet failed to be objective, I'm sure had he been a jew, this incident would have never made it to the newspaper.
19. Sooooo, Majadele is the example of a 'good' Israeli Arab?
(08.08.08)
Why keeping the pretense?
20. #9 More inclusive anthem? Israel is a Jewish state
AK   (08.08.08)
While the non-Jews have equal rights under the law, the state is a national home of the Jews, the very purpose it was created for.
21. majadele
bear ,   zefat, israel   (08.08.08)
This guy and all the rest of the arabs in the knesset aren't there just to represent "their" arabs. They're there only to be stumbling blocks like throwing water into a gas tank. They should all be removed IMMEDIATELY and forevermore.
22. Late??
David L. ,   Israel   (08.08.08)
I certainly hope that his reason for being late is true, but I can't help wondering.....
23. This could happen to anyone
Ilan ,   Ariel   (08.08.08)
I don't like the implication that because Minister Majadele is an Arab Israeli he deliberately missed the ceremony. It is completely within reason to assume that he had a mishap along the way. I've been to conferences and finding your way in a city you do not know is a real bear. I really dislike Majadele's politics but I'm opposed to cheap shots. He deserves the benefit of the doubt in this.
24. Everybody spits in Israel's face
Ken Besig ,   Israel   (08.08.08)
Everybody and anybody, even Israeli government ministers, can and does insult, vilify, unfairly condemn, and disrespect Israel. The problem is as old as the Jewish People, but at least in Diaspora we had to suffer in silence, in our own sovereign nation we should at least react strongly to those who injure us here!
25. Is Majadele Labor or Kadima ???
Norman   (08.08.08)
Both parties really stink but the question is which party has such a unqualified degenerate (Don't beleive he even finished H.S.) as a member.
26. Exclusive To Jews, Yeah Right
Jerry Sussman ,   Alexandria USA   (08.08.08)
How clever of various posters to suggest that the Israeli National Anthem is exclusive to Jews and that, therefore, it would be inappropriate for the scumbag minister to participate in the ceremony at which the Anthem is played. By that logic, as Israel is established as a Jewish state, it would be inappropriate for this scumbag minister to have taken an oath of allegience when he became a member of parliament. Moreover, this rationale would excuse all non-Anglicans from attending services at which the British National Anthem is recited, and, I suppose, equally would justify non-participation in official ceremonies of all of the worlds peoples who do not belong to the religion, sect, party, etc., to which the anthem may be dedicated. Then there's that gosh-darn theme song of the U.S. Marine Corp. I suppose that U.S. Marines who are of Mexican-American, Arab-American, and Muslim-American ancestry would be justified in sitting that song out because it refers to the "Halls of Montezuma" and the "Shores of Tripoli." The duplicity of the pro-terrorist, antisemitic, anti-Israeli scumbags never ceases to amaze me.
27. #9: "Palestinian" anthem says "Palestine is my revenge"
Jake   (08.08.08)
How does that tally with being a Peace Lover, as you call yourself? Face the facts, buddy. Israel is home to multiple ethnicities and religions - Jews, Moslem Arabs, Beduins, Christian Arabs, Druze, Circassians, Bahais, and many others, as evidenced by this Arab Moslem minister himself. Israel's declaration of independence specifically embraces the Arab population as equals. "Palestine", represented by the original Baath Party flag of pan-Arab Nationalism, is showing itself to be just another monolithic Arab Moslem entity dominated by one of two equally nasty tyrannies: Arab Nationalism and Islamofascism.
28. Observer #14, You've got that right!
Jake   (08.08.08)
"What has Hatikva "The Hope" to do with the Arab Palestinian population of Israel? It simply does not represent them in any way or shape or form. It is like asking the native American indians to sing for the land of the free (America)!! " EXACTLY! I could not have put it better myself. America has an anthem that clearly is not going to speak to large segments of its own population, but does America plan on changing its anthem for their sake? I think not! Britain's anthem says "God save the Queen". That doesn't represent atheists or anyone who is not a Monarchist, but will Britain change its anthem? I think not! The French Marseillaise is very bloody and militant in nature and may offend peace lovers. Will France change its anthem? I think not! In fact, just about every anthem in the world is based on the principle of an ethnic nationalism specific to one group, and the liberation and freedom of that one group, not of all men. That is the way of the world, which is divided into defined nation-states. But it sounds to me like you are not calling for the abolition of nation-states in general, just of Israel.
29. I do not see a yarmulke on his head
Jack ,   San Diego, USA   (08.08.08)
30. To #1: Do you normally write such drivel?
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (08.08.08)
Kol Ha Kavod to President Peres for supporting our athletes and for his special support to Oren Mendel whose father was killed so tragically! As for Minister Majadele, well he accepts his salary paid by the taxpayers of Israel so maybe the taxpayers should pressurize the Labor Party to remove him and he can become the Palestinian Minister for Anti-Israelism!
