1. Georgian Jew
(08.10.08)
As a Georgian Jew I consider Israel my homeland and country, but my great granparents lived there for 1500 years. They were always good to the Jews and I will not forget that. May G-D bless them, protect them, and grant them victory!!! ISRAEL SUPPORTS YOU GEORGIA!!! Russians are HUGE SONEH ISRAELIM and may we kick them all out of Israel soon---they are contaminating our Medina as well as the world!

3. RUSSIA = WAR CRIMINAL
(08.10.08)
4. This is National Suicide
David ,   la-usa   (08.10.08)
By attacking ethnic Russians and inflicting heavy civilian casualties, Georgia will now lose both provinces to the Russians and probably its bid to join nato-not to mention the loss of perhaps thousands of its own civilians. No one will intervene on their behalf-if they're smart. The Russians have never forgotten the lessons of Kosovo (a criminal war in my opinion) and will not be humiliated again. Add this failure of diplomacy to Condi's growing list- as she is supposedly a "Russian Expert". Like children poking an angry Bear with sticks, this is one of the most suicidal military campaigns I 've ever seen. All we can do is pray for the victims-and survivors. We need Russian co-operation in dealing with Iran so all you will hear are protests from the U.S. Did they really think we would come to their aid and ignite WWIII? We just spent 45 years and trillions of dollars avoiding a war with Russia....

The more things change, the more they stay the same.
7. This is how US really helps it's allies
Robert ,   USA   (08.10.08)
And since after 1967, the more Israel buys and relies on the US, the less land and less wars they've won.
8. Georgia=war criminals
Victor ,   Israel, South   (08.10.08)
1,400 died as result of 'Georgian aggression' in one day. Civilians were killed on purpose by "Grads". Saakashvilly must face punishment as Saddam.

10. Russia had an agreement to remove its troops
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (08.10.08)
from Georgia in 2008. How convenient a war just suddenly happened when they were supposed to be pulling their troops out for good. Georgia has oil pipelines which bypass the Russian federation's far reaching hands. Russia is busy grabbibg control of an oil pipeline corridor. They are annoyed at Georgia for asking for a membership in NATO because they lose their control over the world's oil supply pipeline. Putin doesn't give a crap about Russian citizens or green card citizen's of the Russian Republic. I'd give part of a country citizenship too....especially if it gave me total control over a pipeline system that could make me billions of dollars. Putin is using innocent people's lives to gain control of a vital strategic oil route.....nothing more....nothing less. While people are dying in the street.....Russia is counting their petroleum dollars. Oil for for innocent people's live's. What a wonderful leader Putin has become. Greedy asshole comes to mind. Was this war really necessary? Give me a friggin break. Russia is pathetic.
11. Russian war criminals
Thomas ,   USA   (08.10.08)
I as a person who witnessed the Russian bestiality during their invasion of Hungary in '56, the bombing of Budapest, their occupation of Prague in '68, I cry for Georgia and other ex-captive nations which will be the next victims on the Russian beast's menu.
12. Similarity to Second Lebanon War
Chaya ,   Bat Yam, Israel   (08.10.08)
Some Georgian police were killed by a roadside bomb. Georgian forces fired mortars against aggressors in S. Ossetia. Russia took advantage of the situation to escalate things.
13. 4# Why would Georgia start this little skirmish?
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (08.10.08)
Russia was the main player....they had the most to lose if they lost control of this little segment of green carded foreign nationals. These people are Georgians. Russia runs in and offers citizenship, and conveniently, oil incentives to become Russian citizens. These separatists were gauranteed a very good paycheck if Russia gets control of the pipeline running through their territory. Russia is playing a chess game with oil. Don't be naive. If I wanted Mexican oil fields I could offer citizenship to Mexican nationals and send in troops to protect the wonderful Mexican citizens, who just so happen to be living next to the oil fields. Now I have control of the oil fields also. Perks do come, with the protection of my new colleagues, who helped me acquire my new found wealth.
14. 8# Don't believe the news media.
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (08.10.08)
Odds are....Russia started this little chess game. They control more media outlets than Georgia. They have the most to gain by this little war. The whole Russian military just suddenly crossed into Georgia at the same time this supposed war was started by Georgia? Give me a break. Hitler did this crap in Poland. "They attacked us ," He screamed to the world. Then he conveniently invaded what he planned to take by force in the first place. Why would Russia give a damn about this little sliver of land in the first place? Oil pipeline access transport route. The Russians fabricated this story. They want control of the oil fields. Greed.
15. #5 George
David ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (08.10.08)
So Russia is so wonderful. What the h*ll are you doing living in Canada? Once again the Russian monster wants to control the world. I thought that Stalin died a long time ago? I guess that Putin is a Stalin wanna be. Although Putin has a lot of killing to do to catch up with his idol. The USA crushed your country's economy, sh*tty military. You want it to happen again?
16. The Pipe Lines ? The Central Motivation oi vey..
YITZAK BEN SHLOMO   (08.10.08)

17. Georgia Started The War, And Now it is Paying The Price
Mr. Know-It-All ,   Frostbite Falls, MN   (08.10.08)
I find it almost laughable that Georgia is complaining about the response from Russia to its sneak attack as if they expected no response to their wanton aggression. Russia should bomb Georgia back to the stone age just as Israel did to Lebanon for a far smaller act of aggression, as surely if it was OK by the US that Israel bomb Lebanon's civilian infrastructure, it most certainly is OK for Russia to do the same to even a greater extend. Sometimes setting a precedent comes back to haunt you ya know.
18. Georgian Troops Pull Out, Must Be Their IDF Training
Lev Bronstein ,   Moscow, Russia   (08.10.08)
Ha, the Georgians learned well from the IDF on how to retreat I see.
19. 18# Isreal has nukes too. I wouldn't get to comfortable
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (08.10.08)
being a pompous ass. None of us consider Russia anything other than a threat to other nations freedom. We have nuclear weapons for exactly that reason. Your buddy Putin is killing Georgians over an oil pipeline. He doesn't give a damn about the breakaway republics. It's all about the greed he sees in the control of the oil pipelines. Which begs to question.....did he take a german history lesson and make up this entire story just to take back Georgia? The invasion of Poland in WWII was a total fabrication to take over a country. Putin is in the same league. Georgia is of no value to Russia except for the pipeline. We'll be keeping an eye on you. Georgia's NATO acceptance ought to be a shoe in now. Patton had the right idea. We've learned by watching incessant invasions by Russia over the last century.
20. Send in Bin Laden!

21. Red Big Bear Is Returning
Abdel Karim Salim ,   Jerusalem - ISRAEL   (08.10.08)
The Russian offensive against Caucasia's Georgia could mark the new strategy of Russia of trying to expand once again by annexing the former Soviet republics. If so, this would please anti-imperialist forces who view the USA with fear and disgust and disdain.I am one of them since I regard the USA with utmost contempt, derisiveness, and total disrespect... Yes, we simply need another superpower to offset Yankee imperialism.
22. Our best wishes for our Georgian friends
Zeev ,   Heifa, Israel   (08.10.08)
in name of all jewish. We are with you in this hard time for you. May G-d bless you!
23. To #18: Russian coward
Frank ,   Canada   (08.10.08)
So Russians are able to defeat a small country. Nothing to be proud of.
24. #17 A shallow and uninformed analysis
Aharon   (08.10.08)
The difference is that Georgia DID NOT ATTACK RUSSIA. Georgia attacked separatist INSIDE GEORGIA. A relevant analogy to Israel's situation would be: The Arabs declare independence in the Galilee and start attacking Israeli soldiers. Would we respond by bombing them? You be we would! Abkhazia and South Ossetia are Georgian lands which Russia has no right to interfere in.
25. They entered Tskhinvali, they left Tskhinvali
Damir ,   Russia   (08.10.08)
What was the point? What were all the casualities for?
26. #14: Check the map
Damir ,   Russia   (08.10.08)
This piece of land does not lie across any possible route. There is no known mineral resources. We currently do not need any extra workers there (N. Ossetia will do). So what we are to gain by accepting South Ossetia? Only innocent lives.
