1. Does Not Curtail Medias Freedom
emanon ,   USA   (08.13.08)
Despite what Reuters has to say, "conclusion that severely curtails the freedom of the media to cover the conflict by ", this ruling does not curtail the media in anyway. It just means that you cannot legislate against stupidity. If you are going "in harms way" and act like a combatant, don't expect treatment different from any other combatant.
2. THIS IS WAR....NO MEDIA SHOULD GET ANY SPECIAL TREATMENT
MEDIA AT UR OWN RISK ,   ..............DACON9   (08.13.08)
3. If we pissed off Reuters, we must've done something good.
Tahl ,   Israel   (08.13.08)
Surely this news piece would attract the usual ilk of Israel-haters such as Tova Chanlau, English Person, Jerrold Cohen, etc. But who cares. Every time we piss off the Israel-hating left, Reuters included, that means we've done something good for our country. I wonder - does Reuters lecture Russia, China about their brute force? Two days ago, an Israeli reporter was badly injured by a Russian attack on Gori, Georgia. Another reporter, Dutch, was killed in that incident. I don't recall Reuters lecturing to Russia about shooting indiscriminantly, in this incident or many others. Or to China either... But when it comes to Israel, it is game for everybody. Hey Shlesinger! I'm laughing hard seeing your response... What are you gonna do, boycott us?... Go right ahead! And if you can't stand the heat, get the hell out of the kitchen!
4. The whining of al' Reuters
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (08.13.08)
Were those reporting on behalf of al' Reuters not so prone to a double standard - excusing every abuse from the Palestinians while blasting everything Israel does - I might give a rat's ass about their "disappointment".
5. Reuters got it exactly backwards as usual
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (08.13.08)
It is the responsibility of the reporters to ensure that they are not identified as combatants period. It is not the job of the military to make sure that stupid people in a war-zone are non-combatants. That is exactly what non-combatants are required to do. Otherwise you might get killed, or is that too hard for you idiots to get?
6. The Media War Is Just As Deadly To Israel As Terrorists
Yonatan ,   Nahariya   (08.13.08)
Reuters is one of the most anti-Semitic news agencies to ever broadcast a story. They in fact are pro-arab a British trait we have seen numerous times since the english controlled palestine. Do we really need the Jew bashing propaganda war that this and other news agencies are waging? Combat reporters have always known they are the targets of fire if they are embedded with either side in an active war. Hamass is actively at war with Israel and uses no uniforms to signify they are combatants. So in the rush of battle soldiers have little time to question the intentions of seemingly armed hostiles. Yes in my opinion Reuters news personnel are hostile to Israeli interests and most importantly Jewish citizens. People die in war and Reuters personnel are no exception to that rule, Reuters has no immunity from death or dismemberment much like the Jewish victims of homicide bombers or arab rockets. The Israeli military court could not have ruled any other way according to international law and common sense.
7. it was the flechett missile which acted unreasonably
observer   (08.13.08)
it couldn't discriminate Palestinian from Reuters'.
8. IDF Never Saw A Murder They Could Not Justify
Jake ,   NY   (08.13.08)
Its always OK to murder non Jews.
9. what about the couple of boys murdered in the same incident?
observer   (08.13.08)
does reasonable also include them?
10. risks of the business
yigal ,   north   (08.13.08)
The soldiers In the tank spotted a few hundreds of meters away, a group of ppl,and a tri pod with a black box on It.It could very easily been a tri pod with an anti tank missile. They reacted accordinaly. Good decision of the advocate general.Soldiers should also be protected by the ones who sent them In the first place.A tragedy Indeed, but no crime commited.
11. several hundred feet away from the border fence
(08.13.08)
exactly 3000 feet away, and the firing IDF soldier was just 300 moths old. at least get your number correct.
12. #9: Yes
emanon ,   USA   (08.13.08)
A combatant is a combatant. It makes no difference if you are active, as in firing a weapon, or passive, as in being a human shield.
13. The real problem
Khalid ,   The Netherlands   (08.13.08)
The real problem here is not the IDF or the conduct of its trrops rather, it is the ideoligical basis of zionism itself where the objective is to grab as much land as possible with as little as possible of the indigineous Palestinian people. Considering the other five innocent teenage victim, this is one of recurrent pattern of incidents (each with a matching IDF justification response) that shows how cheap is a non jewish human life in the eyes of zionists. This while true Judaism is based on a principle that all humans are created in the image iof God and thus equally valuable. It is a shame that zionism has managed to highjack Judaism and the sufferings of Jews in Europe and to use both as tools to implement zionism political objectives and as means to justify all the crimes committed in the course of attaining those objectives
14. Yesterday
Serge ,   Antwerp, Belgium   (08.14.08)
Yesterday a Dutch journalist was killed, and an israeli journalist was wounded by Russian fire. I wonder if anyone will ask Russia to conduct an investigation ? What I heared yesterday on Belgian radio is that this is a risk in a war zone.
15. #13 Islamic Liying ... right out of the Quran
GZLives   (08.14.08)
"The real problem here is not the IDF or the conduct of its trrops rather, it is the ideoligical basis of zionism itself where the objective is to grab as much land as possible with as little as possible of the indigineous Palestinian people" Gee I'd rather think the real probelm is the Quran and the fact that Islam is a religion of submission where the Quran is never questioned. Accordingly no non believer is ever given equal rights as the Muslim and certainly no Jew. The Jew is to be murdered according to the Quran and Muslims are told to lie if its to forward Islam. So basically Khalid you and yours are full of sh*t and no one buys your crap. You can play that stupid game of accusing Jews of everything you know you Muslims are guilty of - homophobia, sexism, anti semitsim, invading adn conquering land, certainly genocide and ethnic cleansing is second nature for islamic countries - we can all see the inhuman suicide bombings Muslim kills Muslim so thats no surprise anymore. It all comes down to the words of your Quran being taken literally by your Muslim Brotherhood who spreads the poison financed by Saudis - but yes, to you it will always be the Zionists who you will from now until enternity try your best to make the equivalent of the Islamist fascist who clearly is no friend of ANYONE except the Muslim. You are a bunch of racist bigoted anti semitic people who don't do much other then lie and deceive. I quote : "The Day of Judgement will not come about until Moslems fight the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Moslems, O Abdulla, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him. Only the Gharkad tree, (evidently a certain kind of tree) would not do that because it is one of the trees of the Jews." (related by al-Bukhari and Moslem). Yes just one disgusting piece of the Quran which all of you Muslims need to condemn ...
16. remember
Tomas ,   bsas,argentina   (08.14.08)
Remember the BBC journalist who was shot a few years ago in Gaza by Druse IDF soldiers. with no reason. I saw a documentary about that. It was murder. Plain and simple. This journalist should have known that you CAN´T bring a Tripode to film for god´s sake against a Merkava tank. And by the way, I hate that Russia does everything they want and in my country or worldwide, I don´t see any worldwide manifestations, special tv shows and arab bastards talking in the media... typcal. Always Israel and the Jews are news....and sell. specially when they are dead. Long Live Israel
17. Wow, what a surprise finding!
Kim   (08.14.08)
Wow, who would have thunk it! The ID once again manages to "clear itself" of all wrong doing.
18. ask IDF permission for filming troops
Alex   (08.14.08)
- state clearly where you are - and that there are no hostile elements around - those who do it other way are most likely enemy spies, or cover for attack, or both
19. Not a cameraman case, it IS Flechettes case
observer   (08.14.08)
Israel is trying to twist the matter to make it appear as a professional procedure problem on the side of the cameraman (victim). Why 6 civilians were killed (including the cameraman) ? The incident took place in populated area and that's very evident from the video tap recorded by the cameraman himself; in the back-ground voices, he was busy talking with some bypassing kids while the camera was runing, two of those youths appeared lying in blood pools dead as appeared in the video immediately taken after the impact, while the car was in ablaze. The fact that the second video was shot by a college cameraman in the same time of arrival of scores of people running to the site to extend helping hand, while the car is still in maximum ablaze meant it took them a couple of minutes to reach the site on foot. The two youth lying dead on their "fallen" bicycles and the other wounded youngmen who were transported to hospital and died later from multiple dart wounds; were proved the same darts used in Israel's Flechettes. With a large kill radius of 90 meters banned in populated area, Israel tried to find excuses like it was suspected as launching cell, but if was so why firing a anti-person shell to hit a car which looked as armored vehicle.
20. there is no picture with no risk in a war zone
mira ,   israel   (08.14.08)
