In the weak memories of my mother,in her childhood,she recalls that people in Romania were hopefull that with the defeat of Germany and the taking over of russians, things would start getting better...What a deception... As soon as russians entered the country ,they started looting and terrorizing everything and everybody in the open sky. And I see that now the cossacks,descendents of the worst possible class of beings ,are entering the scene along with russian soldiers. A sad ,very sad situation,indeed...

true, my father also told me that Russian soldiers used to walk up to people and confiscate their watches. And that was the funny bit. They did a lot of horrible things to the civilians in Romania. And they had no respect for the Geneva convention either. At the beginning of WWII Romania was part of the Axis, but switched sides in August 1944. When the Russians entered Romania they shot and killed soldiers and officers claiming they hadn't heard that Romania was no longer at war with Russia. Also prisoners they had taken prior to August 1944 were never heard of again. Then they gave Romania 50 years of communist rule and stole everything they could lay their hands on. My heart goes out to Georgia!

Saw a CNN report last night. The reporter encountered Russian stormtroopers pushing their way further into Georgian territory. The reporter intereviewed two of them, who he said reeked of alcohol as they ranted on about all the good reasons they should be there.... [spit]

They sound just like Israeli soldiers! I suspect some of them will be Israeli citizens someday, abusing Palestinians for a living.

MM Haaretz and Ynet, u sent ur reporters to a war zone. U are complaining about a minor incident where your car was actually RETURNED after 20 minutes. No one was injured or hurt. So please, could you start working and write interesting stories (i'm sure there are thousands there, you know people dying, hospitals, refugees) and spare our time with foulish selfcentered ones. Tell you what...The Israeli army stole plenty of Arab private cars after forcing their owners out of their vehicles as much as the Israeli army looted all Arab hotels in East Jerusalem right at the end of the Six-Day War of June 1967.We owned The Christmas Hotel in East Jerusalem; the Israeli army looted all furniture,kitchen utensils,and electric and electronic items...My father had to restart the business almost from scratch... I assure you the Israeli army is no better than Russians at all... Should I call the Israeli army thugs ?

My mother also used to mention this matter of watches. I didn't know about that switch in august 1944,but now I realize what happened: before ,Romanians suffered with the "iron guards",which were a nazy arm ,and after with russians. That's why my mother,in her memories,says that one of the times uniformed men entered her house looking for books and other "subversive materials"she didn't know if they were looking for russian literature or german literature...
