1. "Modesty Squad" ????/
Pete ,   Bat Yam   (08.14.08)
"After seizing the woman, the men toppled her to the floor, kicked her repeatedly " It was modest of them to touch her to get her on the floor? Many of these men are themselves perverts who frequent houses of ill repute and commit acts of adultery, homosexuality and child molestation. Then to hide their own sins they pretend to be vigilantes attacking others for the same sins they themselves are guilty of! They are a disgrace! This is not what the Torahs commands!
2. And you have the nerve to criticise anyone
Chocko   (08.14.08)
This could well be Iran, Saudi or any other Midle East country. And of course the TB's saying this woman deserved it, she is lucky worse didnt happen, she should have had Acid poured on her, etc, etc... What is it with the Middle East region that tolerates a group who treat Women as 3rd class citizens and allow others to beat, stone, abuse with impunity... Is it an Abrahamic thing or what... Just shows that given enough rope, you guys are as bad as any other Religion, be it Muslim or Chistian
3. They are bandits.
Keren ,   Israel-SP   (08.14.08)
This kind of people need treatment. This is not Judaism. We are commanded to love every Jew(and every human being actually) as we love ourselves. Their closeness is sick and ugly. They are exceptions in such a redicalism, but anyway ,their leaders should start changing things. This is not to be a Jew.This thugery is not part of our values. If the woman doesn't want that kind of life anymore it is her right, and it is her right to keep living in the same neighborhood as long as she pays her bills. In this one,it is these religious that must change.Every one has the right to go his/her own ways and commit errors and rights the way ones choose.Nobody has the right to judge. It is ugly this kind of communal behavior.
4. Religious ???? Ask a RAV!
JJ ,   Tel Aviv   (08.14.08)
They are not religious! Just because they put on a hat and Jacket that does not make them religious Ast rabbi Eliyashuv if this is allowed. you know what he will say -ASUR/forbidden. But YNET will not do that because that will not feed that well, Orthodox Jews are to be portrayed as villains and vicious people, when we all know that that’s not the case. Shame on YNET
5. Does anyone have his address?
Stu ,   Israel   (08.14.08)
6. why does not the police imprison these punks?
harissa ,   Israel   (08.14.08)
7. severely...
yoel   (08.14.08)
I'm in favor of religious behavior, and Tsniut in general... BUT I can't support people thinking they are above the Law. Democratic State means also democratic rules, and obbey to Police, Justice, Army, etc... This means some attorney MUST remind them who represents Justice, and condemn severely. I can see no difference between them and some Mafia who intimidate and break legs in Italy. Send them to jail, and throw the keys in very deep sea...
8. Is this Saudi Arabia ?
MK ,   USA   (08.14.08)
Geeeeeeez.......
9. #4- Well said.
LEE ,   NY, USA   (08.14.08)
10. It's going to come to a shooting of one of these vigilantes
Abe Froman ,   NY, NY   (08.14.08)
Unfortunately a homeowner will have to shoot one of these home-invading vigilantes before the message gets across.
11. Long Live Karl Marx
Abdel Karim Salim ,   Jerusalem - ISRAEL   (08.14.08)
The late ingenious thinker Karl Marx called religion " the opiate of people"... He was mighty right in that.Religion can not be imposed on people by force.People have the full right to decide for themselves about faith and religion.Several western countries have laws that entitle the citizen to change or abandon religion once he/she become above legal age...It seems only ALLAH,CHRIST,and HASHEM are cruel brutes...!!!
12. Why not give the names who the real leaders
Aaron ,   Baltimore, USA   (08.14.08)
If this was some sort of "official" hareidi conspiracy, then produce the names of the rabbinical leaders who directed the attacks. That none have been charged in spite of tremendous investigative resources by the hiloni establishments, suggest a personal or family dispute having nothing to with community at large.
13. HOW ABOUT ATTEMPTED MURDER?
jewspew ,   atlanta   (08.14.08)
These people are no better than the crazzee mullahs with their stonings and beheadings. There is no room in any society for religious shock troops -It's pure terrorism and those who do it and condone it should be given severe punishment as perpurtraters of crimes against humanity. Hiding behind the Torah is a sin. Beating someone "over the head" with the Torah is a greater sin. These are the very stereotypes that make Jews hated around the world!
14. If one of them EVER lays a hand on me, he will be carrying
it in the other hand ,   to the hospital! jc   (08.14.08)
15. #11 Go peddle your communist crap to the Georgians and the
Russians. They are ,   ripe for it now.   (08.14.08)
16. Meah Sharia Law - DISGUSTING!
Elana ,   USA   (08.14.08)
17. It's not Ynet...
Soeren ,   Cologne/Germany   (08.14.08)
.. that should ask the rabbi. These religious gangsters should – before they go to their date with the district attorney and the judge – and after that hopefully receive fine silver-coloured handcuffs and a new home for the next three years. Furthermore: Even if a rabbi would approve such a behaviour (I'm quite sure there are some who would) – it would still be an ugly and disgusting crime. This behaviour is definetely Iranian style. I could have never imagined that something like this happens in Israel...
18. Modesty squad in Israel?
Millicent ,   Israel   (08.14.08)
What are we now living in Iran, Saudi Arabia or Afganistan under the Taliban? No where in the Torah does it say Women are to be beaten and abused in such a manner. These criminals must be brought to justice and receive a long jail term. It is assault and battery under the guise of religion! These acts must be condemned by the Rabbis as well! Their acts violate Jewish laws to the very core, and they should be thrown out of their Yeshivas as well, and if their Rabbis preach such nehaivor then the Rabbis should be charged as well for incitement! May Gd watch over this poor woman and protect her!
19. These people do not exemplify Halakha...
Joe ,   Ramat Gan   (08.14.08)
Halakha does not allow a group of modern-day self-appointed Zealots to act as judge, jury and executioner. These people undermine everything our tradition stands for...
20. Haredi modesty jews. the new talaban
laila ,   jlm   (08.14.08)
21. As they say in Texas...
Erastus CoupeDeVille ,   US of A   (08.14.08)
"All hat and no cattle".
22. #11. Karl Marx is dead, b'ezrat Hashem
Jake   (08.14.08)
Also dead are 80 million human beings, cruelly taken from this world in the name of his "ingenious" philosophy. If pigs refuse to fly, don't blame the people.
23. No. 13
NYC Girl   (08.14.08)
Nobody detests religious fanatics more than I do, but it's ridiculous to say that this tiny minority is what makes Jews hated around the world. If that were the case, no group on earth would be more detested than Muslims, yet they get away with bloody murder.
24. Evil lot they are.
Janet Keno III ,   Pikesville,MD   (08.14.08)
Even here in our town in USA the "religious" are nasty, rude and ignorant (for the most part). If i were that woman, I would organize a group to counter-attack those religios weirdos and hit them where it hurts and I'm not talking about money..
25. Woman beaters wont join millitary.
Efroim ,   Washington DC   (08.14.08)
These characters are too chicken to join IDF. They hide behind their hats and have the courage to beat women instead of fighting like men on the front.
26. To all TB's you only heard one side of the story
Harry   (08.14.08)
Maybe the whole story was made up ??? Did she have any bruises ??? When did she go to the police ??? Did they really lay a finger on her or maybe there was just a verbal exchange which I tend to believe!!! You are naive to fall for ynets slant against religious and religion.
27. This is not Judaism....
guy ,   los angeles   (08.14.08)
and it needs to be condemned by all people of reason...and if the men involved are convicted stiff jail sentences need to be given
28. #2
Leibowitz ,   Greer, US   (08.14.08)
I think it is safe to say that these isolated events are far better then a country where such things are legal through the government. Also, it is not just the Middle East, crimes against woman have been going on in Eurasia and the West throughout history, this is nothing new. Sorry.
29. This is not Judaism.
Sam Harari ,   Brooklyn, Israel   (08.14.08)
One who only keeps half of the laws of a country is not considered 'law-abiding', and one who violates many of the laws of the Torah is not 'religious' These people are not religious, they just dress like they are!
30. this is not what religion is about
miriam ,   ny   (08.15.08)
These people are not religios they just wear the dress, so for ynet to post them as religios people its totaly off the rocker, religious people dont behave in such a manner and if they do than its a pretense merely to make ultra orthodox religios people look bad. ynet should learn to deferinchiate between religiona and bandits.
