Well, thanks to Russia's invasion of Georgia, the new defense system was approved quickly. It could not come soon enough. Eastern Europe can sleep that much better knowing it has early warning system and solid defense on the way. If Georgia had had NATO troops on the ground, this would never had happened the way it did. They would have been forced to use other tactics to deal with S. Ossetia & Abkhazia.

Just about everyone that lived in the Soviet Union and Eastern Block understood that the information being peddled by the Communist governments was propanda, lies, and hogwash. But they had to keep quiet if they knew what was good for them. Soviet propaganda was probably more aimed at gullible dupes, bleeding hearts, and washed out ideologues in the West to stir up chaos over there.Because those guys don't know better.

Does anyone know if the weapons Israel sold to Georgia were as effective as those that Russia gave to hizbolla ? i.e. did we managage to get them back in any way
