1. mofaz and dichter
sas ,   israel   (08.18.08)
if u disagree and u really have character - RESIGN.
2. Ministers who approved should be sacked
Millie ,   Israel   (08.18.08)
I simply cannot understand how the present government can be so seemingly committed to destroying this nation. They undermine the good of the country at every turn. Not only should they be sacked immediately, they should be held for treason!
3. I am flabbergasted - and think those
mr ,   israel   (08.18.08)
governing have lost their minds. If and when there will be peace, we can make such generous gestures, not before !!
4. not for 2 of them !!
YOEL   (08.18.08)
they should have disagreed for 200 !!
5. How small?
chaim ,   Israel   (08.18.08)
"A source at the Prime Minister's Office said that according to estimates presented by the defense establishment, the risk that the prisoners with blood on their hand will return to terror "is very very small." So, lets say just one returns to terror and walks into Jerusalem with a bomb strapped to himself and blows himself up, on, lets say, Ben Judah, killing 20 and wounding 15. Is that "very very small?" Or maybe just one person is killed and only 5 are wounded, is that "very very small?" This government will not move out and needs to be removed.
6. Who are the ministers that agreed????
JAyyy ,   Israel   (08.18.08)
The public has a right to know who are the traitors to the state are that approved Olmerts disgusting decision! Why, after an extensive search, i can not find the names of these ministers? Wheres the democracy! GENERAL ELECTIONS NOW!!!!!!!
7. Mofaz, Dichter protest release of murderers
Yonatan ,   Jerusalem   (08.18.08)
when you have more than 3 million jews in Israel then life becomes cheap
8. What the HELL is going on here!!!!
Kim ,   Tel Aviv   (08.18.08)
To say they are making a mockery of our judicial system is an understatement. If space is an issue, then release all the Israeli prisoners who are serving token sentences for petty crimes. But leave the Arab murderers inside. Our country is going from bad to the final calling. There is absolutely no rhyme or reason for these murderers to be released. It serves no purpose at all……..and, Gilad is still not home. All it does is fuel up the population’s hate and distrust of our already collapsed government. And what about the families of the people murdered by these savages?
9. Reciprocal "gestures" - we release, you stop terror
Laura ,   Israel   (08.18.08)
Why aren't we demanding something from the Palis in return - like stopping the terror, stop shooting and rock-throwing at Israelis, editing out the anti-Israel, anti-Jewish propaganda from their schoolbooks, stopping the incitement on TV and in sermons, stop stealing aid money and start building a society. There's lots of things we can demand they do in return for all these potentially disastrous gestures. Why is our government so stuck on stupid?
10. Do you want Olmert's name tarnished among the Arabs too?
Miriam ,   israel   (08.18.08)
Bad enough that Israel and the rest of the world have such a negative low opinion of him. At least he has 1 "friend" in the world; namely, Abbas.
11. Citizenship
Mike ,   Jerusalem   (08.18.08)
Perhaps Olmert will ask his former memesis and now new found friend Livni to assist these 200 terrorists in obtaining Israeli citizenship like she did for Abu Ala's daughter That would be a real nice gsture toi boost teh stature of Abbas
12. Death penalty should be required in cases of terrorist...
Robert Bernier   (08.18.08)
Death penalty should be required in cases of terrorist murder. The country's professoriate, which enjoys an intimate relationship with its legal fraternity, long ago dropped any semblance of propriety in its enthusiastic embrace of anti-Zionist causes. In light of the legal and intellectual elites' pathological refusal to recognize the murderous character of Palestinian terrorists and Israel's duty to defend its citizens from murderers. It would make sense for the Knesset to circumscribe their authority to adjudicate morality from the bench and the lectern. The Knesset could amend the criminal code to require the death penalty in cases of terrorist murder. More at : http://xrl.us/kj6sj
13. Death penalty would stop this outrage.
Claudia ,   Tampa USA   (08.18.08)
And for Israeli's to vote out the parties responsible for all this mindless appeasement. Obviously the majority in Israel are happy with the status quo and Olmert for you do nothing to remove him. It is unconscionable to believe that this will bring Israel peace. Olmert and GWB attempts at "legacy" will destroy Israel!
14. I Got A Gesture For Olmert /iIii
emanon ,   USA   (08.18.08)
15. Prove your worth!
Arie ,   BaGolan   (08.18.08)
I hear about the ministers that 'vehemently' oppose the release of these murderers! Yet, they prefer their cushy pensioned positions over our security and safety. So what do they do? Bitch moan complain make pretend they object and keep collecting their paychecks. EITHER LIVE BY YOUR CONVICTIONS AND RESIGN OR SHUT UP! You are not part of the solution, you ARE the problem!
16. reciprocity
Arie ,   BaGolan   (08.18.08)
as a strong proponent of a death penalty for terrorism, I personally felt the prison term for Amir was too light. However, given that olmert and his corrupt crew are so willing to endanger us by releasing arab terrorists with blood on their hands, it is only fair that Jewish terrorists with blood on their hands be released as well. So, for the sake of justice and reciprocity, Amir should be freed at the same time! Or better yet, olmert and his gang should be incarcerated to finish his term for all the Jewish blood that is surely on their hands!
17. what if it was reverse situation.
Bhaskar ,   Edmonton, Canada   (08.18.08)
If Israeli 'terrorist' were arrested by Palestinians, they would have murdered Israeli people within minutes of 'arresting' them. Here, fooling Israeli Olmert and his team are freeing the murderers. This sends clear message, "Kill Israelis, remain in their jail for few months 'if caught', and then Israeli PM and his bunch of stupid people will free you.!
18. get the perspective
Richard ,   London UK   (08.18.08)

20. #13 Why just mention GW? What if the Camp David Accord that
Maurie ,   Israel   (08.18.08)
Clinton tried furiously to push through had suceeded? Thank G-d Arafat was to damn greedy to take that deal! If that would have suceeded, we would not be blogging on a free network right now. What about your Pelosi schmoozing up to Assad and other terrorist leaders so she could boast that her party is the party that will negotiate instead of taking it right to the enemy? What about Al-Jimmal Carter siding up with the terrorists? Not one word from you on how the situation in Iran is TOTALLY the fault of Al-Jimmal Carter! And because of that "wonderful Democrat" and his 'legacy" we now have a powder keg in the entire Middle East! While I disagree with what GW is trying to do in our land, by NO means is he the first, nor the last from your country to try to make a "legacy" for themselves at the expense of our country. And just for your FYI sweetheart, our elections in our country are NOT like they are in the states. Olmert has resigned, but there is a process that must take place before he finally walks out of his office for the last time and the door hits him in his @ss!. And when your Bill Clinton lied to your entire nation, what did you Americans do? You had to wait until you had your elections right? Even though he was impeached by your own congress, he still had to be voted out at election time yes? So you can take your Jew hating, snide, pompous, rheteric somewhere else and be oh so proud that you have made a legacy of superbly displaying your ignorance for all to read, Shalom
21. Time for this gouvernment to step down
Bengurion   (08.18.08)
22. On the side of Jihad - Olmert LIES for Terrorist Killers
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (08.18.08)
A source at the Prime Minister's Office said that according to estimates presented by the defense establishment, the risk that the prisoners with blood on their hand will return to terror "is very very small." WHO WILL PROTECT ISRAEL'S INNOCENTS? Certainly not the government. Abbas, described as a "moderate", is admired and respected by U.S./EU/Israeli leaders. Abbas financed the massacre of Israeli athletes in the Munich Olympic Games.
23. No one sees the irony?
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (08.18.08)
People who belong in jail, like Olmert, are freeing prisoners. This country has become an insane asylum.
24. Abbas was the one who handled the finaces for the Munich
Massacre! Are we nuts ,   to let this go thru?   (08.18.08)
25. Olmert will invite them to live in his house
Charles   (08.18.08)
as of next week
26. Maurie darling, you are going over the bend
Claudia ,   Tampa USA   (08.18.08)
and chose to misunderstand. How you managed that I don't know but since I support Israel in every possible way you OWE ME AN APOLOGY. GWB is only one in a long line of presidents that have attempted to pressure Israel into giving up precious land for NO PEACE. Frankly you sound like a liberal that thinks everyone is stupid but him. Far from it . And your government coalitions can very well split off from the PM and bingo they can call for new elections. Seems Shas has blackmailed Olmert and Kadima into allowing him to cling to power by his filthy fingernails. So keep your mindless accusations of anti-semitism for some other time and read what I wrote. You should be ashamed of yourself!
27. When are Jews of IL gonna be released from Olmerts Imprisonm
Alan ,   Sa   (08.18.08)
28. #26 Ha! What a mashuga you are for sure! You accuse us
Maurie ,   Israel   (08.18.08)
Israelis of being happy with the status quo of our govt. leaders. How do you know this? Have you been to Israel lately? Do you hear the discussions that are going on? Have you seen the letters that have been written to the PM's office? How about the letters of discontent that have been written the the MK's? Have you catalouged the number of phone calls that have been placed to the Kenesset offices about our outrage over this? No? Just because our govt. coalitions won't split from Kadima at this time does NOT mean that we citizens are not moving behind the scenes to let them know how we feel. When was the last time you partook in ANY of our elections? Do you have a clear understanding of our voting system? Do you even know how a Knesset member gets elected? No? Do you even know many members are allowed into each faction? No? Do you even know how many members are allowed per capita of population? No? Do you know how Omert got elected? No? Well he didn't get elected! So take your yankee lack of knowledge about us as a govt. and as a people and stick it where the sun doesn't shine sweetheart. If it were that easy do you honestly think we the people would not have done something by now? Truly anybody with one eye and half a brain could tell you are a silly babbling brook of a goyim. So take you CNN mindset of what is going on here and just go ahead and continue to elect more presidents that are hell bent on destroying and trying divide my land so they can all have a legacy of importance on how they divided the land. Apologize to you? Not in your life time baby. Ashamed of myself? Hardly! Going over the bend? Only when I have to read such trash as you publish. A liberal? You mean much like Clinton? No way. And especially not like Carter who has created this whole damn mess in Iran. So until you live in Israel, breath it's air, walk around in it's market places, visit the kibbutzims, talk to the people on the streets, go to the synagouges, see the hatred from our enemies, and listen to and get involved with those who are working to change our current situation----keep feeling oh so proud at just how little you know. Truly you have created a legacy in your own mind. It must be the land of oooohhhhhssss and aaaahhhhsss with you daily.
