I do not speak Farsi, so I cannot comment on the suggestion that the translation to English was incorrect. However, as someone who has studied six languages (English, Russian, German, Italian, Spanish and Hebrew), it is my opinion that Abo Koffee's premise is incorrect in making the suggestion that because there are no words for "wipe" or "remove from" in Farsi, the English translation that includes those words is incorrect. My Russian teacher, himself the Chairman of the State Department's foreign language program made this much clear: A literal translation of a foreign language statement is a translation that imparts the intended meaning, and not a literal word-for-word translation of the original statement. Simple example: The Italian phrase, "Io ho bisogno de mangiare," if translated word-for-word would be "I have need of eating." Yet an Italian trying to pass himself off as an American would be spotted in a minute if he used the word-for-word translation to express his hunger. The literal and correct translation to English--one that conveys the actual meaning, its informality and its accepted usage--is, in fact, "I am hungry." There can be no doubt of Amadinedjad's intended objective, and it is naive at best to excuse his rhetoric based upon the premise that the English translation may not be word-for-word of the Farsi original.

(One of many instances why those people manage to install and nurture tyrannical regimes.) Looking up an English to Farsi dictionary (like www.farsidic.com) you will see the farsi words for "germ, corruption," etc. They exist! As for Ahmadinejad, he seems unaware that the more he spews hatred the more he loses respect and his dignity in today's world. And that is bound to hurt him and his country all the more. Let there be a rift in his administration so that what he says backfires.

The Iranians elected him. He's not a singular voice. He represents what the majority think. And the Israelis gave the Temple Mount to Jordan immediately after the Six Day War. If you go to the Dome of the Rock Mosque, you deal with Jordanian security, not Israeli. I haven't heard of any mainstream Israeli groups seeking to change the staus quo.

fully appreciate Ahmadinejad real words. I love literature and ME poetry and find his quotations delightful, almost musical. He comes across like mixture of Kahlil Gibran and Omar Kayam. Perhaps he is just fortunate that his translator/interpreter is well gifted in colorful phrases. Come on ..'germ of corruption" since Iran isn't yet as corrupt as the Israel/theWest that phrase rings like a bell.
