"The problem itself is like a swamp with mosquitoes. It's preferable to dry out the swamp than try to kill every single mosquito. " Theory should be applied to Kenesset...
2. Solar energy is the only way to shut them up .....
rachel ,   usa   (08.21.08)
its the future anyway . why not use it now .........
3. Or better still, invade oil-bearing Islamic countries
Sane As You Are ,   Israel   (08.21.08)
and keep the oil for ourselves!
4. Even Bush Can Laugh at Your Perez
Bill ,   US   (08.21.08)
The whole world has connected oil and terrorism and has seen alternative fuel as a solution at least 30 years ago. Seriously, this guy would never serve in any real government anywhere. He would be laughed off of any ballot.
5. To Bill
zach ,   us   (08.21.08)
So why didn't Bush and the rest of America get it? After 9/11 they combated terror by buying Hummers and Escalades, making the swamp a little bigger. Perez has been on the forefront of making Israel a greener country, while the politicians in America can't pass a real energy bill.

any person would need alternative energy to fight anything.
8. #2In Texas we are retrofitting our cars to run on water/fuel
Justin ,   Texas   (08.21.08)
It has hit this state with fury! I have a 1997 Buick that got retrofitted a few months ago and am now getting 45 miles per gallon. Others have found a way to capture the hydrogen from the very air we breath and convert it into energy on their vehicles. I only fill my car up once every 3 weeks now. By the way, gas down here is now down to $3.02 a gallon.!
9. The words of Shimon "New Middle East" Peres
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (08.21.08)
So tell us, Mr. President, where is the investment in research and development, or education in science and technology, that will enable Israel to develop those alternative energies? Why is it easier for an Israeli company to build a solar facility in California than in the Negev? As we speak Israel is cutting funding for these efforts, red tape is hindering many promising projects, and Israel's best minds are leaving. Peres remains a "dreamer" to the end, all "vision", few results. BTW, how's that "New Middle East" coming? The fact is Iran will have nuclear armed missiles long before new technologies put a dent in demand for oil.
10. Peres Is Senile
Dave Levy ,   Burbank. CAUSA   (08.22.08)
I saw Peres speak at a local park many years ago. He could only fantasize Israel anything like the surrounding area, rich Jews and no threats from Hamas and Hez. Look this man is senile..has dementia. His peace project has been a dismal but expected failure. Iran's lust for Jewish blood, and the destruction of the Jewish state (coordinated with Hamas and Hez) has nothing to do with oil, alternative energy, solar power, etc...it's just continuing Hitler's goal of Judenrein world. It's that simple. Peres's naivety is dangerous for Israel, and can lull Israel into a false sense of peace. I'm concerned about the US not selling Israel advanced fighter aircraft..and Syria's quest for advanced missiles..not alternative fuel theories. Let's get real folks.
11. Peres is a hypiocrite. He created the terror in Israel!
Jayyy ,   Israel   (08.22.08)
What chutzpah after signing the release of hundreds of terrorists. Peres supported the bogus Palastinian cause and was the first to coin the phrase "Occupation" during the Oslo Accords! The man is a hypocrite and should be in jail for treason to the state. DIverting the cause to Israels problems and blaming it on oil is pathetic.
12.  Win the war against terror.
Robert Bernier   (08.22.08)
What is the one strategy that can win? History has shown time and again that military confrontation does work. Israel could achieve military victory by eliminating or incarcerating Hamas's leadership, not two or three a month (so that they are replaceable) but a few hundred at once. By breaking its command structure and its logistical apparatus, Hamas can be rendered inoperative. For this to happen, Israel and Western democracies must treat the terrorists' mortal challenge as a war for survival, not as a series of skirmishes. And in war, you must fight to win, by all traditional means as analized (5 parts) at : http://xrl.us/biz8x

14. too late to change
tom ,   toronto, canada   (08.22.08)
at 85, shimon peres is too old to change his tune. sadly, he is the last person left in israel who still thinks that oslo will lead to peace, and that peace will be the salvation of israel. but he's wrong on both counts, and no amount of retreading will fix the thousands of holes in his policy, made by fatah and hamas terrorist attacks. sadly, peres is a has-been peacenik in the middle of a shooting war.
