31. Build a rail line to gaza and send the hara-dim there!
jason white ,   afula,israel   (08.25.08)
32. I am sure there will be a solution there always is
Mark ,   JERUSALEM   (08.25.08)
I think its a shame that people have to send rude responses to the article. I believe this is one of the hurdles that will be dealt with like any other ultra Orthodox problem especially since there is a Heardi Mayor to deal with these problems. What I don't understand is the light railway is not going to run in the Geula region so why are the busses affected. Let's keep the status quo as is and not make it any worse.

So say the people who were in favor of expelling 10.000 Jews from Gaza... Leftist mind is a strange thing... Back and forward and back again just do what feels wrong, cause that makes you feel good. Secular leftwing idiots like you are allowed to speak and propagandize Genocide. When a rightwing activist says the same its racist and against international law inhumane and a disgrace to the Zionist, free of morals, people... Second of all I think your comment is all the more hateful and insensitive knowing that 6 million Jews were transported by train to their death. Having said this I hope you will soon leave Israel (this world) and leave Israel to the Jews.

and lack of services.
35. We need a constitution
Ilan ,   Tel Aviv   (08.25.08)
So that these very worrying and seemingly evil theocratic tendencies can be defined as illegal before they ever set root... never should the law premit a woman to be beaten or burned for what she wears, or where she chooses to sit on the bus.... It is up to us to all become the Rosa Parks against this fundamentalism.
36. The spiritual need of a getto.
Dr D ,   Jerusalem   (08.25.08)
Some how by looking at the "modern" world I don't blame the Ultra Orthodox Jews. They do have spiritual leaders to whom they obey . They don't have an army. They follow their law as suggested in our Books. They don't publicly display they sexual tendency with parade and finally they only mind their own BUSINESS.
37. Eyn Derech Eretz, Eyn Torah
Roscio ,   Rome, Italy   (08.25.08)
I just took the "spiritual" buses through the haredi areas of Jerusalem. I saw haredi students risk their lives and others' by jumping in front of the bus to stop it, saw people scream at the drivers for little or no reason, saw people push and shove others - in sum, I saw a total lack of Derech Eretz. I, a Torah Jew, was treated like filth by the haredi on board because I do not resemble them. Let the haredi learn simple manners before they preach spirituality to others. On the buses, they are a Chillul HaShem. Perhaps on a modern tram, they will learn to behave like people with Torah values.
38. What a bunch of morons: IT'S NOT A TRAIN, IT'S A TRAMWAY
Sergio ,   Israel   (08.25.08)
the likes of which have been going around the most progressed cities in Europe (Turin, Paris) since the 1800's!!! MANY MORE lines like the one under construction would solve the horrible congestion and pollution problems in Jerusalem and in the rest of Israel. Too bad that Ynet refuses to post my comments to the fact that these so-called "rabbis" say the same things that Pope Pius IX said about locomotives and trains, and the same shtuyot practiced by some of these penguins' predecessors in Lithuania, who forbade electricity and its use in synagogues. Maimonides is turning in his grave everytime these guys open their mouths!

What do you in your Mokum know about MY , and not your , Capital ? My Capital can be a center of spirituality , and in the same time a modern town .
40. #7 "real Jews" did not look like 18th century poles/livaks
Yehudi ,   Israel   (08.25.08)
go back to the source i am sure Moshe and Aharon did not wear a streimel or a black hat and a black frock coat. the fact that you decided that 18th century polish attire is Jewish is ridiculous.
41. Dr [ ? ] D , 36
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (08.25.08)
...and finally they only mind their own business . You wrote . Only their business ? Is this their business what a woman wears ? what a shop sells ? where people sit in a bus ? when gays want to parade ? And so on . Stupid guy who can write such a thing .
42. DM , Adam
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (08.25.08)
Before being transported by train , they were transported in busses , cars , trucks . So don't talk about all those transport methods . Take a boat to the grachten , there you belong .
43. Charles, as idiot as any Dutchman
DM ,   Amsterdam   (08.25.08)
Arrogantly claiming and not sharing. MY MY MY good luck bru. And charles I could very well be from paris or ramalah, are you new on the WORLD WIDE WEB?
44. to #34 First of all I am not a leftist,I hate them
jason white ,   afula,israel   (08.25.08)
I also hate the draft dodging hara-dim and their parasitism. You have a lot of nerve sitting in amsterdam and telling us Jews what to do! So the nazis used trains to transport Jews, does that mean Jews can never use trains again? you live in holland,a country that had more members of the dutch nazi party than there were members of the resistance. I am staying in Israel and If you want to have me leave this world, then come here and we will meet. You will be the one leaving this world and burn in hell with your trief hara-dim!
45. Sergio , What's in a name ?
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (08.25.08)
It's called here a light rail train . In Europe it's called a tramway , or simply a tram . It's the best solution for public transportation . In Zurich , Switserland , even great businessmen take it , and leave their car at home , or at a park place outside the town . I was in Brussels , Belgium , there the tram goes underground in great parts of the town , very fast , no traffic jams . Great . The same in Antwerp .
46. Jews who wish to be distinguishable...
#7 Shalom ,   Roma, Italia   (08.25.08)
I thought that Jewish mandatory wearings included only a kippa and tzitziyot (tallit katan)... Fur hats and kaftan in August's sun seem to me laughable.
47. so what
joe ,   USA   (08.25.08)
let the charaidim set up their own buses! If there are enough riders, all will be happy
48. Rabbi's: Light rail a disaster for Judaism
Latrina Goldfarb ,   Toronto, Canada   (08.25.08)
If you don't like it, then do like Moses and WALK. Same goes for air travel.

Steve ,   U.S.A.   (08.25.08)
Chareidim are news! They're completely ridiculous, and I laugh out loud when I hear what these Rabbis say. So to ynet, the more you cover this, the more I will check out your site. And if you say this is loshon hara, reporting on Chareidi views and culture and making people aware of the realities of this society prevents the various forms of crimes and abuse which they are prone to from reaching it's full extent.
50. Where is the problem?
era ,   Jlem   (08.25.08)
Give them an "extra modest waggon" at the end of the train and let them pay for it by an extra "haredi passenger" fee...
51. who needs rabbis??
eliezer ,   los angeles   (08.25.08)
who needs the rabbis to tell us that the train is terrrible?? Any one with a simple brain knows that urban trains are on the way out! Here in Los Angeles, they removed existing tracks to make a special lane for special long buses. Come to the San Fernando Valley were they understand that to use trains makes no economic sense. Buses are easier to repair, easier to maneuvre in the city than trains. Only Israelis who lost the ability to think and only desire to imitate goyim would make such a stupid decision.
52. Pathetic
nr ,   los angeles, CA   (08.25.08)
Only the secular would use Nazi terminology to describe Jews. Warming up to let loose on the mentally challenged next? After all, they don' t pay taxes or serve in the IDF. . .With a government as corrupt as yours, you have the nerve to talk trash about religious? This talk back reads like a page taken from Der Strummer. . .
53. It has caused such a big balagan, I hate it already

54. No. 23 Millicent
NYC Girl   (08.25.08)
You're exactly right. And as anybody who has ever ridden on a subway or bus can tell you, public transportation in NYC in the heat of the summer is not exactly a bastion of modest dress.
55. No. 40 Yehudi
NYC Girl   (08.25.08)
You're absolutely right. And since you mentioned it, there's something else that doesn't seem to be taken into account. Those images of the Haredim in their ludicrous garb is very detrimental to Israel. The problem is that because they stick out like the proverbial "sore thumb," people who aren't really familiar with Israel tend to believe these religious fanatics represent the average Israeli, even though absolutely nothing could be further from the truth.
56. GOD BLESS TECHNOLGY, AM YISROEL CHAI
HAL TRIPP ,   LA PAZ, BOLIVIA   (08.26.08)
WE NEED MORE PROJECTS LIKE THIS TO MAKE THE ARABS JEALOUS, A YIDDISHA KOP,THEY MAKE A DESSERT INTO A GARDEN, ISRAEL IS THE MOST WONDERFUL COUNTRY IN THE WORLD, GOD BLESS THEM
57. DM , A'dam , all the limits of stupidity
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (08.26.08)
have been exceeded by you , stommerik would be a better name for you .
58. No "hope" for Charles
Jo Jo ,   London   (08.26.08)
Charles should be deported if he can not get along with the original Jews who inhabitied the land. We don't need him and his likes spewing forth his undiluted hate for the yishuv hayashan. Go back to Paris. There will be alot for you to do there.
59. Yo Yo , londonistan , # 58 , same as # 57
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (08.26.08)
The original Jews who inhabitied the land ... you [ stupidly ] wrote . Who are they ? Those unproductive guys ? Better to say that WE HERE don't need you , and that's why you , knowing it , stay in londonistan , with your antisemite friends . PS : i never lived in Paris , ignorant bipede
60. # 58
Thomas   (08.26.08)
I didn't know the original Jews dressed like 18th century Polish nobles. I also believe that for the originals the day of rest signified you're supposed to work the other days.
