You have it wrong if you think in the US that freedom of assembly is absolute and that incitement is not taken into consideradtion. Yes, the courts permitted the neo-Nazis to march in a neighborhood with elederly Jewish residents but years later turned down a request by them to march in south central Los Angeles for fear that it would lead to a violent confrontation with the local residents. If you respect democracy so much then you should know that democracy is about the rule of the majority and the homos and their sympathizers aren't the ruling majority in Jerusalem. Simon, if the majority of the residents of Jerusalem felt that women dressed that way were not welcome in the city where they live, I would side with them but that's because I don't believe it's necessary to offend people in order to have a marathon. No hypocrisy here. I never said I hated gay people. I don't believe that sexuality has it's place in public. You want the right to flaunt, what most people consider private, in public. As you indicated, Ayn Rand made that statement nearly 40 years ago, and as far as what we know about the causes of homosexuality, 1971 is light years away from the present time. Homosexuality is neither "immoral" nor "disgusting." It's a biological issue, not an ethical one, and the reality is that any heterosexual parent can have a gay child...even the most homophobic among us.

As a former history teacher, I know far more about democracy than you give me credit for. I do know that our Founding Fathers would not be in favor of the immoral public displays supposedly protected under the freedom of speech. This was neither their intention nor wish. Sex and sexuality are private affairs and have no business in the public arena. This display could and should be classified under the crime of disturbing the peace. At best, parades are an attempt by the sodomites to gain acceptance and have their behavior classified as "normal" - more so it is an exhibition meant to flaunt and shock. I do not wish my progeny to be brainwashed by the media or society-sheep into believing homosexuality is normal. No one has proven it is genetic. But, even if genetic, the behavior is still a choice - to be kept in the bedroom not on public display. Perhaps I should hold a parade for all "liars" in order to flaunt my deviant moral choices. It's just as savory and sensible.
