I think they need to investigate the one the mother called to find out why she called him to say she needed a five year old soon. Sounds like she knew he could get a child at a drop of a hat or a drop of some money. I really do not think this is the time to discuss the girl's religion, to judge cultures, people's twisted minds, or anything of the like. I really think you should all take a chill pill and think of the tragic life of this poor little girl... it doesn't matter where it happened; it could have happened in France, England, China, America, Greece, Israel, or Argentina. What is important is recognizing that sociopaths and psychopaths are in every culture and socio-economic group.People, look at the little angel's face.Does anything else matter?This baby lived a short and horrid life.This is an absolute tragedy.

My talkback was only to point out the poor reporting in this case. Because of "political-correctness", the media has been very careful in not providing identifying characteristics of someone involve in a crime lest we subliminally castigate his entire group because of this one individual (even this is almost always done when it comes to reporting about Haredim who are "fair game" for the secular press and are not subject to this same rule). Thus, the person's race, color, creed, gender, religion, etc. are typically ignored in the report. But, sometimes, such as in this tragic case, the fact that it is possible that the mother is not-Jewish is important in our understanding the circumstances and motives behind the crime. When coming to a crime, it is important to be objective and not shirk from these "politically-incorrect" details, for without, we may artificially blind ourselves to the true root cause of the crime.
