1. Twisted Liberal Thinking
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (08.27.08)
If you break the law for "peace", you're okay. Everyone else is an evil criminal. Talk about hypocrisy....! I am also sickened to read that the Israeli President, Mr. S. Peres, praises a man who broke existing and valid Israeli law and proudly met with the enemy of the State of Israel, Mr. Arafat. I cannot condone Mr. Peres for this praise. This is another reason why I consider Mr. Peres the worst president in the history of the State.
2. tibi: do as i bloviate, not as i do
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (08.27.08)
he says "I only regret that few others followed in his footsteps." if that's really true, i wonder why tibi hasn't ever tried to be a "man of peace".
3. Peace be upon him
David G.   (08.28.08)
That's really all we can say, no pun intended. Abie Nathan represents what is best in humanity. With more people like him, maybe there would be less war. In 1966, people must have thought he was crazy. But in 1979, the Israeli government basically did what he wanted. Egypt got back all of its territory, never attacked or threatened to attack Israel again, and today the two countries have solid diplomatic relations. This is the proof that long-lasting peace between two former bitter enemies is possible. All we need are people to believe in it.
4. Responsible for 1967 war, as well as 1973 war
Gerry ,   Boston   (08.28.08)
according to Arabs he was resposible. Is this guy that went to Gaza also peace activist? Are Beilin-Peres peace activists? Is Tibi and his people are peace activists? And, of corse, olmert is peace activist - he offered realinement to Arabs? Result Lebanon war. Barak offered Judea and Samaria. Result Arab intifada and murder of many Jews. Another peace activist.
5. Abie Nathan the honest man but the corrupts got noble prize
e.m.Jordan is Palest ,   s.f   (08.28.08)
Off course Shimon is not a corrupt but he treason did he deserve noble peace prize Not at all. Yasser Arafat was the terrorist and corrupt and he have got e noble peace prize too President Jimmy Carter is treason too Jimmy Carter have forced Israel to give up Sinai Peninsula to Egypt and what Israel did get instead no thing .In reality the noble peace prize should give to Abie Nathan

a friend   (08.28.08)
Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love, for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment, it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.
9. Abe
zznhl   (08.28.08)
I'll always remember getting stoned listining to Abe's voice of peace on summer evenings as a kibbutz volunteer in the north and thinking what an eccentric nutcase. As I grew more mature and saw what he was realy about, even tho' my own politics differ, grew to respect him and his love for people and his beloved Israel. God bless you man.
10. Thanks!

We should all thank this man for at least trying to do things our leaders failed to try, His radio station will live in legend! So shall the man!

14. # 1 well at least he did something
Simon ,   TA the free city   (08.28.08)
I guess it bothers you that there are still some people left in this world that still belive in peace between nations and building bridges between people regardless of nationality, religion , race or sexuality. Its a shame that hatred, intolerance and lack of understanding seems to win the day for which Reuben you have surely played your part.
