Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (08.28.08)
Only America and Israel have the potential capacity and will to prevent Iran from attaining nukes. To allow the apocalyptical, jihadist, terrorist Iranian regime the most deadly weapons known to man, is tantamount to inviting an attack which would kill millions. There is no other choice but to deny Iran nuclear weapons. It seems that only America and Israel have the potential capacity and will to prevent Iran from attaining nukes. One of these two great nations must neutralize Iran’s nuclear facilities before it is too late. This, of course, must be done in conjunction with massive funding of Iranian dissident groups and energetic support for Iranian democrats who would like nothing more than to see their oppressive regime toppled. Regime change in Iran would be far superior to a military strike. But, the free world simply cannot take the chance that nukes are acquired before the regime is overthrown.
2. 63% support surgical strike 95%
Joe ,   Ohio, USA   (08.28.08)
3. Not true!!!
David ,   New York   (08.28.08)
I don't know where they got their polls from!!! Americans are sick of Israel's misconduct. Americans are tired of protecting Israel. Americans today are worried about America not Israel. Israel has become liability not an asset. Enough if israel insight in America!!! Leave us alone people!!!
4. Despite what you hear in the news, the US DOES support &will
support an Iranian ,   strike. jc, usa   (08.28.08)
5. #2 - I'm sure you intended to say something meaninful ..
redmike ,   Tel Aviv   (08.28.08)
6.  I agree with Robert Bernier
Larry ,   Philadelphia, Pa, US   (08.28.08)
I 100% agree with Robert. An Iran with Nukes would plunge the world into WW3. I would love to see the regime overthrown but I doubt that that would happen. I believe that their will be war because we strike to prevent Iran from having Nukes or because we waited till they did. The first option would be prefreeable but either is dreadful.
7. War with Iran is a certainty
Castor Troy ,   USA   (08.28.08)
The whole world support a war against that fashist islamist regime; You should be a Iranian to think otherwise, and even among them thereare a lot who pray for being freed from that ugly regime, even at teh cost aodf a war. By teh way there will be only strikes, not a war, because the Iranian entity can't afford the price of a war. these backwards shiites are strong in wording, and name clls, but in fighting ten years didn't get them to win against saddam army defeayted in two weeks by our army. You get the picture. I laugh when I read about their space program and secret weapons. They are real clowns, thinkinsg we will be impressed. Disgusted maybe, impressed certainly not !
8. To Dave from NY
Salvador ,   USA   (08.28.08)
You must be democrat 1000%
9. Right, David
Ron ,   Los Angeles   (08.29.08)
100% right, I think we have bigger issues to deal with.... BTW #1 you are wrong.... Don't forget Russia, China, India are also super powers and have the capability to his the USA and Israel. World War III anyone??
10. Americans know the dangers
Brod ,   USA   (08.29.08)
Americans know that prevention is better than cure. When you are confronted with fanatics and cultists that threaten to annihilate another nation and are feverishly working on their nukes, you don't talk with them. You confront and defeat them. Nukes in the hands of fanatics and cultists are a thousand times worst than Bin Laden, Mohammad Atta and their thugs.
11. 63% of Americans
HF ,   Chicago, USA   (08.29.08)
Now when know how many idiots there are in America
12. I absolutely
Ben-yair ,   Ashkelon, Israel   (08.29.08)
agree with caster. you shouldn't be worry, it maybe far away then you are think it is. i have the reason to believe that their strength is not Indestructible
13. No. 3 David
NYC Girl   (08.29.08)
First of all, Americans aren't protecting Israel. During the first Gulf War, George Bush, Sr. forced the Israelis to sit on their hands in the face of Saddam's Scud missiles for fear that any participation by Israel would cause the coalition to fall apart. Not only that, but you're apparently unaware that Ariel Sharon actually warned Bush NOT to invade Iraq this time. In fact, Israel isn't America's enemy. Our enemy is those irredentist Muslim regimes, like the one in Iran, that would like nothing better than to bring the Great Satan to its knees.
14. Actually, David the situation is exactly the opposite
Darren ,   Oakland, CA   (08.29.08)
of what you say. Oslo, Camp David II and Annapolis have done nothing but bring more misery on both Jews and Arabs living in the Middle East. The Security Barrier/"Apartheid Wall", rampant human rights abuses by the Palestinians that far outweigh any criticism you could launch at Israel or the US, security checkpoints and the second intifada are the direct result of Oslo, which we Americans shoved down Israel's throat. When it comes to the Middle East, Republicans are clueless but Democrats are even more clueless. For us Americans to dictate Middle Eastern foreign policy to the only ally the West has left in the region (believe it or not, Iraq and Iran both used to be our allies until the rise of Baathism and the Islamic Revolution!) while we keep committing one foolish mistake after another in the region is pure arrogance. Besides, we Americans aren't "protecting" Israel- Israel protects itself and does a far better job of it than we protect ourselves. I suggest you listen to something else besides the soundbites CNN feeds you before you open your mouth again on this website.
15. Why Don't You Link To Source of This So-Called Survey?
World Citizen ,   the world   (08.29.08)
How many Americans took the poll? What was their ethnic background? Where in the US was the poll conducted? Care to let the readers of ynetnews.com look at the poll questions? You can reach any conclusion you like as long as you ask the "right" question of the "right" people. I'll bet 99 percent of the people polled were either Jews, Zionist Christians, or the useful idiots that still think George Bush is doing a wonderful job. Iran is absolutely no threat to the United States. It is only a threat to Israeli hegemony in the Middle East. That is why the Israeli government, the main stream media, and the jewish neo-cons that work for the Bush administration shill for war with Iran. That is the same reason they shilled for war with Iraq. If Israel wants to fight a war with Iran then Israel should grow the balls to do it. But face it, all the posturing aside, that isn't going to happen is it?
16. Iran is the first election promise that will be taken care
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (08.29.08)
of. Bombs away........No more nuke program.....no more planes.....no more military instillations.
17. Americans Do Not Support Strike On Iran
Peaceful US Partriot ,   The United States   (08.29.08)
Iran has clearly stated that it does not desire nuclear weapons, voluntarily signed the NPT which is supposed to extend protection from rogue regimes with nuclear weapons like Israel in lieu of Iran not building its own deterrent, so only the whacked out warmongering Neocon/s and Zionists seek to attack Iran's nuclear power program, thus forcing Iran to develop nuclear weapons to deter future aggression. Iran has never attacked any country in its entire history, is not involved in occupying or stealing other peoples land and thus should be applauded for its long peaceful history, not threatened and attacked. I don't trust any polls conducted by Zionist controlled propaganda mills such as the Israel Project, for they seek only to interfere in US foreign policy and get US soldiers killed fighting their wars. If Israel wants to start a war with Iran, do so on your own and at your own peril, and do not whine when they hit you back.
18. David, Israel is the front line on terrorism
USA   (08.29.08)
Has been for decades. We finally got the message and we're in it together.
19. Zionist Neo-Cons For Endless War
J. Abramoff   (08.29.08)
War profiteering all the way! Mostly the poor and brown dying. This one will cost a lot. Only war profiteers, the criminally insane, and morons support war. In the end, like Iraq, this too will blow back with a vengeance.
20. I happen to know that the bombing of Iran
Tom Hill ,   indio, USA   (08.29.08)
will be the most massive seen since World War 2. Iranians flip a switch in their house and get light , they turn the faucet in the sink and get water . They have air conditioning. They drive their car to a bridge and the bridge is s till there. Well all these nice things will come to an end soon. Iranian citizens will know they have their president to thank for it. They can drive to an airport today and the airport is still there - Oh well - enjoy while you still can.
21. Make that 64% (count me in!)
Samuel Prime ,   Canada   (08.29.08)
We have a whole package of reasons for such an airstrike on the Terrorist Republic of Iran (specifically their nuclear installations). From their military and financial support of groups that killed US troops in Iraq (thru IEDs), to the spread of terrorism in Lebanon, causing a war on Israel the way Saddam invaded Kuwait, to their holocaust threats, combined with their nuclear weapons ambitions, defying the IAEA, etc etc etc. These threats cannot be taken lightly by any nation that has been threatened the way Israel has by Iran. Diplomacy failed, let's face it, so action is the next step (and I don't mean willy nilly sanctions).
22. poll
Abner ,   US   (08.29.08)
Seems form this poll Americans prefer Israel take on Iran alone. That is not such good news.
23. #14 Well said Darren....couldnt agree more!
JAyyy ,   ISrael   (08.29.08)
24. yeh americans
boaz ,   israel   (08.29.08)
I think Americans fail to realize that if Iran obtained nuclear weapons, the world would literally end. The word nuclear armeggadon gets tossed around alot but its got some meat in it this time around. think about it
25. If Obama's elected he'll do everything to prevent it
Dr. Dave ,   NYC   (08.29.08)
He'll cause every kind of delay possible and even talk with Ahmadinejad and play into his rediculous charades until his nukes are functional.
26. specificity
TONY ,   SOCAL   (08.29.08)
If you limit the question to a more informed and better educated subgroup in this country the percentage that support an effective military strike against the lunatics in Iran skyrockets to the 90% percent range. This along with the immediate decapitation of the upper echelons, now and whenever they make known, their genocidal desires towards Jews or any civilian group. Decapitation is the key. The certainty of their intent is as clear as their evil. Any other strategy is a loosing one. Hitler's Germany and Imperial Japan did not capitulate until they where on their knees. Sadly there is no other choice, time is running out.
27. To #5. Yes I HAD said something
Joe ,   Ohio,USA   (08.29.08)
meaningful. But it was censored. 95% support carpet bombing Iran
28. "Israel Project"; a survey you can trust for impartiality
Chanalau, Tova ,   London, UK   (08.29.08)
I assume they only asked attendees at the last "Support Israel" rallyy, but even you can't argue with statistics. After all 100 percent of Tova Chanalau would support a neutron bomb strike on Tel Aviv (after all we do need to preserve the Bauhaus heritage for future generations).
29. #17 - Peaceful Patriot, Here's a news flash...
Joe ,   Ramat Gan   (08.29.08)
"Iran has never attacked any country in its entire history" Oh yeah? What about the violence and terror of the Islamic Revolution? What about the Iran-Iraq war? What about the US hostage crisis? Were the 80's so good to you that you say about that decade what baby boomers say about the 60's: "If you can remember the 60's, you didn't experience them"? "Iran is not involved in occupying or stealing other peoples land" Iran is occupying the Tunbs and Abu Musa Islands- land claimed by the United Arab Emirates. If you take Iran's proxies into account, Iran is also occupying Lebanon, Gaza and parts of Iraq. "Iran thus should be applauded for its long peaceful history, not threatened and attacked." Now that you're analysis of Iran and it's foreign policy over the past twenty years has been proven to be a delusion, are you going to finally listen to logic and history or are you going to continue to be a modern day Neville Chamberlain?
30. Iran war
Marilyn ,   USA   (08.29.08)
It may be part of an idea that someone can stop something bad from happening in the future by means of violence; but what if it causes it to happen instead? Anyways I'm for the most part against war, so I'd vote no.
