31. Devastating
Arie ,   BaGolan   (08.29.08)
Sadly for the lebanese province of syria, not even kadima or labour would be able to stop Tzahal should those missiles be engaged! The Israeli citizenry would expect, and fully receive, an adequate response that would surely devastate what is left of the cedars. hezbullah and iran have no issue with the province becoming a devastated wasteland as long as it serves their apocolyptic view of fundamental islamofascism
32. #4 Terry - there is no need to nuke beirutt
Arie ,   BaGolan   (08.29.08)
With the IAF's ability to provide bombing runs throughout the lebanese province, the use of WMDs is not needed. What is needed is replacing the kadima/labour gangsters with true leaders who are concerned with our security, not their bank accounts. No troops are need be endangered on the ground either. The combined utilization of the IAF, naval units who have learned from their mistakes and well placed artillery would suffice in completing what should have been completed in 2006.
33. The BETRAYAL of Israel & Free World Via UN Resolution 1701
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (08.29.08)
During the 2006 Second Lebanon War under INTENSE U.S. pressure, Israel's leaders agreed to UN Resolution 1701 that prevented the goal vital to Israel's security - eliminating the rocket threat from Lebanon. The result: Hezbollah now have far more rockets-40,000 as of July 2008 and able to hit 97 percent of Israel's population. UN Resolution 1701 successfully prevented Israel from defeating Iran-Syria's terrorist army Hezbollah, thus greatly weakening Israel and empowering Hezbollah to violently take over Lebanon. Another victory for global jihad CREATED by Western ruling elites - another victory for Islamics in the war against the world's non-Muslims.
34. hezbollah missiles
alexi   (08.29.08)
Thank you olmert for allowing this to happen and endorsing syrian help to hezbollah.Beyond Israeli elections as livni also has to go as she was part of the olmert team, Olmert should be taken out to the courtyard. The whole of kadima and labor and shas have to go down. Al of this and gaza was on their watch.Mainly though it was olmert who talked sharon into withdrawing from gaza.Take him out to the courtyard.
35. GROUND REALITIES ARE.....................
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (08.29.08)
Changing with gradual pace of time,no doubt. It is one thing to retort and reply to talk-back trying to undermine someone else's views but if one looks at the present scenerio, had this been the case 10 years back, the reaction from interested countries would have been abrupt. There is hardly any possibility of that happening now as any reaction will have to weighed in terms of what would be the consequence and also the cost..
36. Iran, Israel & oil are reasons for attack on Georgia
observer   (08.29.08)
the US and Israel had plans to use Georgia as a launchpad for aerial strikes on Iranian nuclear sites. the US is interested in Georgia because it borders Russia, has a pipeline that is intended to transfer oil to Israel, and most importantly is a country that can be used in an attack against Iran. Close military ties can be beneficial to Israel as its warplanes are able to carry out strikes against Iran from Georgia without having to refuel, explains Brockwell. A Russian fighter jet bombed runways inside the plant, located near Tbilisi, where Israeli security firm Elbit is in charge of upgrading Georgian SU-25 jets. Israel has renewed two military air-ports to launch any future attack on Iran from Georgia. So, why denying the reciprocal from Iran?

You mean Iran has the newest version of Photoshop?
38. What's all the fuss?
Edithann, USA   (08.29.08)
The playing field is almost level..and getting more so every day... Thank God. Why should the Palestinians turn over their homes and lands to Jews without a fight ? Why are Jews on Palestinian lands anyway? Reclaiming abandoned property without proper documents has no place in reality! TATA
39. #32 Arie, BaGolan.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (08.29.08)
The mistake of the last war was in not undertaking a massive land invasion of S. Lebanon. Air power could not stop the missiles, even 30 days into the war. The other mistake was only going after Hezbollah & not the Lebanese state. In any case, we need to eliminate Lebanon with all due haste if we are involved in a strike against Iran. There is no point in absorbing missile strikes for any length of time. I am not a military expert - if the IAF can take out Hezbollah missile installations very early in hostilities, great. I think they had some good results with larger missiles during the last war. But, if they cannot, then obliterating Lebanon remains an option, including nuking Beirut. I'll tell you the truth, after seeing the warm welcome of that monster Kuntar by all segments of Lebanese society, I have lost whatever sympathy I may have had for Lebanon.
40. #39 are u sure Israel has nukes; without single experiment?
(08.29.08)
maybe Arabs have to boast nuking Beirut because no more israel will be there.
41. Photoshop Zizal-3000 supermissiles
steve from raleigh   (08.29.08)
As always there's a huge gape between Iranian and Hezbullah rhetoric, and reality. They have supersonic cruise missiles, they have IRBM's, they can launch satellites, they have stealth fighter planes, they have robotic submarines. Except, no, no they don't. It's all nonsense. What they have are some old cobbled together American planes, a few Korean missiles, an Iranian retrofit of some old F-5 fighters, some rubber boats, and some old rusting tanks. Added to that are a few new Russian antiaircraft systems.
42. Terry #39
Arie ,   BaGolan   (08.29.08)
You are right to a point. But let us look at the 2006 war: the IAF was used in a limited capacity mainly around beirut and southern lebanon; olmert kept them from destroying the supply lines coming in from syria; the naval forces did not act at full level, a fault they admit and from which they have learned. Artillery fire can be very effective if properly placed. Soften the underbelly of the snake and cut off its head. What we have to accept is that the lebanese civilians are ok with carnage (kuntar was example), so as you say, there will be no innocentt 'civilians' in lebanon this time. Our biggest enemy? kadima and labour!
43. #11, crap
Danny   (08.29.08)
Israel didn't "use all it's means", by a long stretch. Hell it didn't even bother calling up the reserves until half way through. The Palestinians faced a fully mobilised IDF in 2002 and they both held it off for longer and caused more casualties - and caused more economic damage. 2,000,000 cluster bombs, hm try less than a 1,000 discovered over 2 years later - source is the UN, who continue to lie about the number of cluster bombs they "estimate" there to be.
44. #23, with photoshop?
Danny   (08.29.08)
45. Hizbullah is a puppet
Obama ,   Seattle, Washington   (08.29.08)
Is it realy that big of a deal if they have those "advanced" missles? they are Iran's garbage, even if they could be accurate they would be shot down by missle defense systems. If they fired those home made fireworks they used two summers ago that whole dump of a country should just be wiped off the map and the palestinians can all live there
46. Mahmood
Septimus ,   Rome   (08.29.08)
I don't see anything changed at all. In 2006 Hezbollah already had zelzal rockets. Most of them where destroyed then in Israeli bombings. So what the big deal in it. They hav e rockets. We know it for long. How much casualties they inflicted on Israel during thta war ? Not so much. Nothing that can deter us to stop your Shiite motherland to posses snuclear devices taht would permit that rogue state to impose its terror wings over the middle east. If you balance the threats of a nuclear Iran, and a few missiles hit before hezbollah itself w ill be obliterated, its no match;, Nothing new under the sun. War to the fachist shiite entity is more than ever high on the agenda.. Israel is supported in its position by 63% of the US public. The shiites of lebanon are a no deal for the west. Sorry for you pal !

Sounds familiar because you already said that in 2006.
50. reply to # 5 Terry

Before you nuke Beirut, we will nuke Tel Aviv. It seems that your Mossad is getting more incompetent by the minute.
51. reply to post #11 Bill
Bandar ,   Beirut, Lebanon   (08.29.08)
No Billy boy. You sound smart but your post reflects the reasoning of a dummy. To know who won and who lost in a war, you look at the declared objectves of both sides and then you judge. Vietnam was razed to the ground but the defeated the Americans who fled Vietnam with their tails between their legs.

Your sense of humor stinks. I guess if you are looking for a job, dont try out as a stand up comedianne!
54. reply to # 41
Bandar ,   Beirut, Lebanon   (08.29.08)
Inspite of all the crap that you mention, it only took Hezbollah 34 days to defeat and humiliate Israel. P.S refer to the winograd report.
55. reply to post #42
Bandar ,   Beirut, Lebanon   (08.29.08)
"the IAF was used in a limited capacity mainly around beirut and southern lebanon" Over 18,000 sorties in 34 days all over Lebanon. Go check your facts before you blab your mouth.
56. reply to # 45 Obama
Bandar ,   Beirut, Lebanon   (08.29.08)
We saw what "Iran's garbage" did to you in 2006.
57. Iran does some things very well
zionist forver   (08.29.08)
1) Ahmadinijad is great at making people laugh, probably the greatest threat he poses to the world is making people laugh to death because of his speeches. 2) Talking bullshit ... Irans military technology is so good it makes Amercan technology look like antique junk. They built stealth fighters to match the F22 Undetectable super submarines. They are planning to put men into space .. if ET is out there the mullahs are going to find him and convert him. 3) supporting terrorism 4) Using photoshop. Thats probably something they are better at using than anybody else in the world the way they can take their bits of junk and make it look impresive.
58. SEPTIMUS,I READ THE SITUATION.........#46
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (08.29.08)
Exactly the way I have written in my talk-back.The only advise I can give you is for you not to confine your assumptions based on emotion but rather do little bit of reading your own papers, experts views on the subject an above all abondon the hatred in yourself which is so evident.
59. #30 - seeing as you ran away from the Middle East,
Levy ,   Israel   (08.29.08)
how do you suppose 2 million Arabs in the Israeli region will feel about being martyrs? Probably not "volunteering" as much as you would like to believe (or have us believe). I was in northern Israel in summer 2006, and the ones we came across were in hysterics and ducking for cover. We protected them more than their buddy Nasrallah did. Now THERE's a source of pride, huh?
60. Hizbullah has advanced missiles
Talula ,   Israel   (08.29.08)
