1. Star of David wearing Arab
Tony   (09.03.08)
as much as I think it was nice of this chap to wear a Star of David, perhaps, in retrospect, it might have been a bad move on his part, Im a jew, but for Arabs, (most of them) its like a Jew coming home wearing a Swastika. What was the boy thinking?
2. If your father is like Nizar Hasan professor in Israel's
Miriam ,   Israel   (09.03.08)
Sapir College who can't tolerate the Star of David, he should be promoted as professor in Israel. http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3493016,00.html
3. Nothing new. Give us some real news!
Ben ,   London, UK   (09.03.08)
4. # 3 is wrong....
David ,   Hartford USA   (09.03.08)
this is news because it shows how deep the hatred is by some Arabs for Israelis. This teenager should be the future of Arab-Israeli society. Instead the father and brothers want to put an end to it. Is an 'Honor killing' in the future? Has the family's 'honor' been sullied by this decent kid's behavior? Only in twisted Arab eyes. The police should take extra precautions to ensure this kid's safety.
5. to David in Hartford
Tony   (09.03.08)
David, I kind of agree but disagree with you. Im all for peace and making up, being friends etc, however you really cannot expect these Arabs to start walking around with Stars of David, its just would not be conducive to peace in the middle east. Assuming you are a jew, would you therefore, in the interest of peace, start wearing cresent moons, or even a Palestinian Flag on your lapel?
6. What's Next, (dis)Honor Killing?
emanon ,   USA   (09.03.08)
They tell us Islam is a religion of peace and then they show intolerant non-peaceful acts like this. American Jews, remember, Bush and McCain want to give them a country and they will give Israel away to do it. Israel, remember, you are an independent nation: start acting like one and reject that notion.

ilan ,   ta   (09.03.08)
it's not AT ALL like a jew wearing a swastika. this kid was wearing the symbol of his country. there is nothing better than to see an arab israeli wear the star of david. shame on you for thinking otherwise.
8. to Ilan
from Tony   (09.03.08)
Ilan, send me a photograph of you wearing a symbol of Islam round your neck, and I will graciously apologies, People do not wear star of david's to symbolise their love for ISRAEL, its is to symbolise their connection to JUDISAM, get that into your pethetic narrow minded Israeli mind, You are not right about everything Ilan, and i am an Israeli, don't show us up, ahabal... Tony

Eric Housen   (09.03.08)
Ilan, you are talking out your backside my friend. Why should an Arab wear a Jewish sign? even if he lives in Israel... Anyhow, since when do people wear stars of David because of Israel? Its to show that they are either proudly Jewish, or love Judisam, even if they are not Jews themselves. Hey, by the way, you are israeli? Will you gladly wear a Palestinian Flag on yoru jacket, since you feel that he was only wearing a symbol of his country...
10. Championing a betrayal..
Edithann, USA   (09.03.08)
How would you like to see your son sporting a cross? Would you call that an ecumenical statement for peace? Get a grip guys..you're all happy as it looks like a betrayal...and it is!.. Is that where your morals are..after all you stole his fathers land...and you'r gloating he's betrayed his father?... Where are your morals? TATA
11. #1 - What a sick, sick thing to say....
Andy ,   ramat hasharon   (09.03.08)
A swastika to us is like the star, which is on our national flag, to arab Israelis? You need help, my friend.
12. Best of luck to this brave young man....
Andy ,   ramat hasharon   (09.03.08)
who is willing to confront his abusive, hateful family and embrace Jews, who obviously offer him friendship.
13. #5 - you idiot....
Andy ,   ramat hasharon   (09.03.08)
Nobody is "expecting these arabs to walk around with a star of David..." What we are expecting is not to see a kid beaten for choosing to do so. And FYI - go to Tel Aviv on any given shabbat and I am sure you will see more than one Palestinian label pin on a peacenik. Nobody gets beaten for it.
14. #7 - Hey Eric....
Andy ,   ramat hasharon   (09.03.08)
You are the one talking out of your ass. It isn't about what Ilan wants to wear. Its about what this kid wants to wear. IF Ilan chose to wear a crescent or a Pal flag, he could - without getting beaten for it. What this family apparently did to this kid is a crime - hopefully the government will punish the purpetrators and protect the victim.
15. And of course there is good old Edithass...
Andy ,   ramat hasharon   (09.03.08)
With her snotty little "TATA" lying again. Who stole whose father's land? Where did you get that garbage? His family is testament to the Palestinians who stayed put in 1948 didn't kill Jews and lost nothing. You think befriending Jews and wearing a star of David is a betrayal....that says enough about the hate in your heart.
16. BEAT THE COEXISTENCE OUT OF HIM
David P. ,   Santa Cruz, USA   (09.03.08)
they never learn hate bad enough
17. 1.Perhaps the boy in his heart wants to know the Lord and
Rivkah   (09.03.08)
the chosen people of God and wants to heal the breach of the brothers Esau and Jacob that happened such a long time ago. I have been similarly attacked for wearing a Star of David necklace and the attacks nearly cost me my life. A German woman in Lemoore, California, who works for the Fashion Gallery and Gifts Stores accused me of being a Jew and said I threatened to kill her every day for 16 years even though I had been out of the country for four months and only lived in the area for five years. But calling me a Jew was enough to get Lemoore policeman Jason Cody so enraged that he tried to kill me on my front porch, calling me a dirty Jew, and arrested me WITHOUT A WARRANT which is illegal in the USA and said I was a terrorist. When I wore a Star of David necklace to a Roman Catholic Church (St. Peter's in Lemoore), the priest John Moore poisoned me, trying to kill me. The police would not even take a police report. He died seven months later in judgment from the Lord. Fortunately for the boy who wore a Star of David necklace, the police listened to him the SECOND time he went to them and put him into foster care. His sacrifices will be great but so will his rewards for loving his Jewish friends and believing in them and wearing a Star of David necklace. What was the judgment on Lemoore and the State of California for wrongfully attacking and prosecuting me? Every day I ask God to avenge me. So far, there has been a drought in California since I was attacked in December 2006. There were two freak weather freezes that cost a billion dollars each in crop damage. The farmers and ranchers have gotten their water allotments cut in half by the Federal government, thousands of fires have destroyed so many homes and businesses that the revenue shortfall in taxes is 17.2 Billion dollars this year. That meant all State workers had to take a salary cut. City treasuries are being raided by the State, so city workers' salaries have to be cut, including the salary of the policeman who attacked me. I continue to ask for God to avenge me every day until I am paid a settlement and the actions against me are reversed and the people involved are prosecuted. That is what this boy should do: ASK the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob to avenge him. When I do that, the deaths of people who harmed me or the early deaths of people in their families is the consequence, eventually.
18. Some very sick people equate the Star of David w/the Nazis
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (09.03.08)
When the hell did we round up millions of Arabs and murder them? When did we enslave of Arabs millions and starve them? Only an extreme racist would make such a comparison.
19. R-e-s-p-e-c-t
Avi   (09.03.08)
It's not expected for the Arabs to all of a sudden wear Stars of David. Because it is a symbol of Judaism, it should be worn only if someone is Jewish. If an Arab shows and acts on good intentions, respects and maybe even appreciates our culture, that will be sufficient grounds where we can get along. The boy was very courageous for taking it to police, and he should have had the option to not return home if he wanted an environment that let him explore his options-even if they are to eventually convert to Judaism.
20. to Andy,
tony   (09.03.08)
yes I reiterate what I said, to an Arab, a Star of David is like a Swastica, Dont kids yourself, Arabs would rather dance around wearing pig heads rather than wear a star of david, My god, you must be so young and naive... This kid is one in a million...
21. To andy in RH
Hezzi   (09.03.08)
Andy, are you ever so slighty retarded? Where in Tel Aviv on any given shabbat should I go to meet these peaceniks wearing Palestinian label pin's? and, are these peaceniks ones that fought in 2 Israeli - Arab Conflicts with me to preserve and mantain the peace of the state of Israel? I love my country, and I nearly die defending it. What did these palestinian pin wearers do for Israel?
22. Police
gabriela ben ari ,   jerusalem   (09.03.08)
It takes a gigantic amount of courage for a 15 years old to file a complaint at the police, specially if the asailants are his parents. HOW CRIMINAL of the police to send the boy packing back home where they KNEW for sure that further abuse was awaiting him. So many arabs of today have been converted to Islam (from Judaism) by sword in the not so distant past... who knows?
23. Gee, Magen David Swastika
Terry ,   Chicago, IL   (09.03.08)
"When did we enslave of Arabs millions and starve them? " I almost fell off my seat when I read that. Israelis are incredible. The fact that your humanity has been diminshed to a frail spectre attests to how badly the Nazis really corrupted you. I mean, really, what part of the above mentioned quote doesn't scream GAZA ! Please. please, do me a favor- I urge of you. Close your eyes for a second, forget everything you "know" or think you know, and just think about what is going on in Gaza. Forget the terrorists, forget the rockets and Israeli raids, just think of Gaza and the residents. How is that NOT enslavement? How is that NOT starvation? Your Jewish morals should have taught you better. 1.5 million people are starving and dying for you to have a false sense of security.
24. # 9 - eric
ilan ,   ta   (09.03.08)
I didn't say an Arab should wear a Jewish sign but he certainly is entitled to without violence being directed his way. I am Israeli and I don't see how that matters. I wouldn't wear a Pal flag on my jacket b/c I don't identify with them or believe in many of their platforms. But obviously if this kid is wearing a star of david he has some connection to Israel. His connection is obviously his country, his homeland, and his people (BEING THE ISRAELI PEOPLE, of which he is a siginficant part).
25. this is exactly why pro-israel arabs are afraid to speak up
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (09.03.08)
they have everything to lose and, unless support is offered by the jewish population for them, very little to nothing to gain. who can blame them for sitting silently by? it's nobody's fault, really. just the sad state of affairs.
26. #21 - Sheinkin Street and environs you idiot....
Andy ,   Ramat Hasharon   (09.03.08)
I didn't say I approve of their garb, but like Voltaire - I will fight to the death for their right to wear it. And no, I guarantee you I am not in the slightest bit retarded, you big fat, self-rightious moron. You aren't the only one who served in the army and who nearly died doing it. This is a country full of heroes in my book.
27. #22 - Gabriela's point is right on the money.
Andy ,   ramat hasharon   (09.03.08)
As usual.
28. to#25 and Silent Israeli-Arab majority
Rami ,   Nazareth, Israel   (09.03.08)
You are absuletly right in your comment. In many cases the Israeli-Arab majority stands silent becuase not even the state supports us and when comes, it amounts to nothing more that lip service...
