1. Olmert should go visit his draft dodging sons
Mike ,   Jerusalem   (09.07.08)
take his wife with him, and stay there with them for good! He can learn a lesson from Barrakeh, run away and still collect pensions and benefits
2. ironic
Moish ,   Jerusalem   (09.07.08)
the day Olmert brings up a new "resettlement" plan to expel Jews from our Land, he is recommended for indictment! There is Judge and there is Judgment Yesh Din V'Yesh Dayan!
3. STORM IN A GLASS OF WATER
DAVID ,   JUDEA   (09.07.08)
Knowing our fine court system with its political correct judges, nothing will happen and Olmerde will walk away free with all his illigally amased wealth in tact. On top of that he will get a fat pension, with a slap on the back for screwing us over many times and getting away with it the good old Israeli way. All this media hype will only expose more and more how corrupt the system is and how our freiers are getting away with it. No act of swindeling is to low for our fine leaders and their cohorts, this is only a tip of the iceberg of all the corruption going on here at every level.
4. Indictment coming. Unless politicized Justice finds excuse.
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (09.07.08)
Olmert indicated if he was to be indicted, he would resign. (I don't know if he used the word "promise", but we all know what his promises are worth.) Now it's up to Israel's famously politicized Justice Ministry to act. Of course, they might find some excuse to delay prosecution , e.g. to "study the recommendation", or link it to the Kadima primaries, or "peace talks". Here's their opportunity to show whether the Rule of Law lives in Israel or not.
5. As they say on L&O; Clunk-clunk
Gideon Reader   (09.07.08)
Forgive the personal aside, but as one intimately involved in the investigative/law enforcement processes for a period in excess of thirty four years, I am gratified and relieved that this day has finally arrived. The relief felt by the investigating officers is, I am very sure, palpable and cathartic. Kol HaKovod to those coppers who have done the "sapper work" in this tale of slime, corruption and underhanded shennigans by the alleged PM.
6. Charge the PM?
moriah ,   sacramento, USA   (09.07.08)
So get on with it already! How many investigations does it take to get this self serving traitor out of office? Are they just throwing charges up against a wall like mud and hoping it will stick? He's corrupt!
7. This is why Bush loved Olmert so much
Marcel ,   Florida   (09.07.08)
Olmert was always an easy mark used to betray and sell out Israel. I'll bet a pen set with the White House logoon them was enough for Olmet to send in the black boots on horseback against the people of Amona to crack their skulls.
8. Israel doesnt have a history of punishing its politicians
zionist forever   (09.07.08)
Unfortunatly i dont have much faith in Israeli justice when it comes to punishing their politicians for crimes. Moshe Katsav should have been charged with rape but instead he made a deal he would pleasd guilty yo sexual harrasment on the condition he get a suspended sentence and thats the only thing he was charged with and they accepted. Today Moshe Katsav is running free, recieving his presidents pension and enjoying security provided by Shin Bet at taxpayers expense. Sharon managed to get the investigators off his back and his son took the blame for everything. If Katsav can get away with it then just think what Olmert who is the master of evading the law can do. One thing to be sure of now though is Olmerts going to try and look for a legal loophole allowing to stay on as PM after the Kadima referendum in a couple of weeks because without the imunity from prosecution that he ets as PM then if he is indicted then he can stand trial and be sent to prison. Certainly as long as Menachem Mazus is AG Olmert has a good chance of getting off.
9. indictrment
alexi   (09.07.08)
Ya ya zohar is putting out a spin. You will be indicted on the tours matter because it is clear what you did: Alleged double and triple billiing charities for the same trip and then using it to finance your family vacations. Aliza, from holocaust survivors, might be interested to know that you allegely ripped off a holocaust charity. Why should aliza have to suffer because of you? I ask! She would be better to get rid of you because the next 20 years will be marked by prison, and ignomy the likes of which you can hardly appreciate. why? because you screwed israelis in your appeasement negotiations and you continue with it. You will suffer and you deserve it. Also , there are 200 israelis who shed blood because of your stupidity. What is it that dan margalit says you are a total failur?
12. what a coincidence
observer   (09.07.08)
now with the enforcement of the government's ruling ability at the expense of weakening the Supreme court, it sounds that they are trying their best to help Olmert survive the ordeal.
13. Ol' Saeb
Bill Hickock ,   Jerusalem   (09.07.08)
Of course Saeb "Cry me a river" Erekat had to chime in there at the end with his snide, below the belt comments. I have other names for him too. Saeb "The Fiddler of Ramallah" Erekat. Saeb "The Butcher of Al-Jazeera" Erekat. Saeb "Looks like someone's got a case of the Monday's" Erekat. Saeb "The Party Pooper" Erekat...There's no end.
14. Olmert is a shameful man.

THE DEGENERATE PROTAGONIST, THE PROSECUTORS, POLICE AS WELL AS THE AUTHOR ARE EQUALLY SCUM LADEN !

17. #15 And you know this for a fact because how Einstein?

18. It's a smoke screen..for failure
Edithann, USA   (09.08.08)
This is a smoke screen..not to be taken seriously...but it's better then what they did to Shaon.. Anyway, isn't being a criminal the criteria for office in Israel? If your not an old Israeli Terrorist or an outright crook, what's the advantage of running for PM in Israel? It's expected!!
19. It's Time For Him To Go
Bill Foonman ,   Jacksonville, USA   (09.08.08)
Olmert has lost what little credibility he had and must go. The police have researched the alleged allegations to death and must be sure that the charges will stick as you don't randomly prosecute a Prime Minister. He has no choice but to step down.
20. ohlmert
sas ,   israel   (09.08.08)
GREAT. the faster he is put behind bars and disconnected from daily political life will be better for all. his agenda was how to make money and NOT how to solve the problems of israel- whether they are domestic or international. He has managed to ruin a beautful country that had a beauiful future but he ruined the show as a cowboy and did care only for the $$$$$$$ a sick man with a sicker wife and i feel sorry for one of his children The on that lives on the upper east side,,,,,,,,,,,,,wondre how he got the mortgage from "fannie" or Freddie. Ask JOE, ohlmert's closest millionare friend in the use.
21. First Bibi, Then Sharon and Now Olmert, Why?
Dave Levy ,   Burbank. CAUSA   (09.08.08)
This entire affair is absurd. Virtually every Israeli P.M., has been accused and investigated for something or another. Even the pro-Palestinian Los Angeles Times several months ago thought Israelis are going on witchhunts. Bibi was investigated for receiving gifts. Even Sharon was not exempt. Israel's entire process is specious., and a way for the P.M.s opposition to dislodge him. The so-called crimes are meaningless and trite., compared to the real crime of releasing thugs and murderers like Kuntar and perhaps Barghouti. Now these are horrendous individuals., with blood on their hands..killing Jews. Israel should remedy these types of felonies using a special committee of the Knesset, to probe, investigate, perhaps indict and take it before the full Knesset, an impeachment if you will. Or, leave the P.M. alone till he leaves office. This is a diversion that Israel did not need. My question: if Olmert was liked by 80% of your people, would you still favor these proceedings? We all know the answer.
22. so....? RESIGN NOW!!!
Doron   (09.08.08)
didn't he say he would resign if indicted? where is the resignation?
23. olmert to stay on
marv   (09.08.08)
Even after indictment, Olmert will stay on so he says. He is forcing israel through hell. His appeasement is dangerous, his arrogance unacceptable. He thinks he can do this with impunity. Well, he is going to jail and there he will suffer. If he is smart, he will resign the second he is indicted and get the hell out of office. otherwise, israelis will pursue him until the end of his life.Ramon, turgeman, friedmand should leave as well to clear out the rot.
24. #18 Edithann
Ben ,   Gush Etzion   (09.08.08)
Are you referring to old terrorists who shot Jews on a boat like shooting fish in a barrel and old terrorists who said teh canon that sunk a Jewish ship should be entombed in the Holy Temple? Or are you referring to old terrorists who refused to use Jewish money to send food and medicine to Jews in the Ghetto and refused to use Jewish money to ransom Jewish blood from Eichmann? If this is who you mean you are correct!
25. So we let out the murderers and jail the embezzelers.
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (09.08.08)
What do you really have to do to stay in an Israeli jail anyways? Steal a little money? Killing people gets you a get out of jail card every time.
26. ohlmert
dh ,   israel   (11.27.08)
he should rot there with his wife and friends that helped him out. the man ruined jerusalem and now he has ruined israel. i have no pity for him or anyone that is close to him.
