1. Christians consider themselves "completed Jews"
vered ,   israel   (09.09.08)
So it's no wonder they would be quoting the Bible and using figures from the Old Testament. They claim the Old Testament as their own, but they also claim the New Testament. And I believe that the Muslims also claim our past as part of their own, as a summary of the Old Testament appears in their Koran. So get with it. A huge majority of the world is laying claim to what we feel is our foundation: the difference, we have gone on to study that foundation in more depth, and we see it as our "Truth". The others have added their own "amendments" and developed the amendments to the truth and not only see that as their truth but the whole world's as well.
2. judaism in US Ettinger
Leib ,   madison wisconsin us   (09.09.08)
the Puritans founded the Mass bay colony not all 13; their were a variety of views of Jews in the early years and anti Semitism developed in different areas of the country at various levels. The US Civil Rights act proved a boon to Jews in 1964 as barriers to hotels, high level business and academics fell. But it is true that systemic, institutionalized anti Semitism of Europe was not a part of the American experience despite an enormous increase in the 1930s.
3. Jews Would Vote For Hilter And Eichmann If They Ran As Dems!
(09.09.08)
Pathetic, but true. Why we Yeeden are beholden to this dead political party is beyond me. But thank GOD, the American people aren't as stupid as we are (despite what Barry Hussein and his sweet wife think). I predict a landslide for McCain, very confused libs for 4 more years, and very, very good news for Israel. Oh, by the way, did anyone catch the Palin family (and Cindy McCain) wearing Israeli flag lapel pins during her acceptance speech? No, you didn't? Yeah, I know, she was pandering to the huge Jewish populations in Anchorage, Juneau, and Nome. She also has an Israeli flag hanging in her office-and that was BEFORE she was selected to be the next (Vice) President of the United States. (Reported in this Newspaper/blog, not nonsense invented by me-heck, I couldn't even pretend to dream that up) The election is all but over, and Barry Hussein, the self professed Moslem (in his own, confused public words: read today's news...) and his robot followers will never know what hit them in eight weeks! The people of Israel may live, but the People of America actually THINK.
4. Oren's book shows how philosophy begat action
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (09.09.08)
Contrary to the bigotry of those claiming it's only the "Jewish Lobby" that is pushing the US to support Israel, the background provided by this writer shows otherwise. Despite the ups and downs of the 350+ years that Jews have resided in this land, our presence here is way beyond tolerance. It is a shared fate based on underlying shared values. It also explains why, unlike Europe, support for Israel remains strong among the US populace. For those who haven't read it, Michael Oren's recent "Power, Faith and Fantasy" shows how, given this background, the US got involved with the Middle East, beginning with our first encounters with Islamic aggression 200 years ago. Some things don't change.
5. I Would Add Another Interesting Similarity
MK ,   Philadelphia USA   (09.09.08)
The US views itself, as Jews do, as a light unto the nations. This was best expressed in the notions of "Manifest Destiny" and "Divine Providence" that led the US to its present form. And the US has very much been a light unto the nations. It is the freest, most dynamic, productive, creative nation on Earth. In another odd similarity of the histories of the US and Jews, even given the proven success of the US Constitutional structure, not one of the many nations created after it has ever saw fit to adopt the US system. They have all preferred to adopt weaker, less stable European, party-oriented parliamentary systems.
6. And Don't Forget Chaim Solomon!!

7. Jews in US politics
lea n cordet ,   sherman oaks ca usa   (09.09.08)
while both parties seek Jewish votes they're running totally on Christian principals.. Sadly today there's no longer a seperation of freedom from religion in US politics..
8. Jews in Politics
Dr Yaakov Wise ,   Manchester, UK   (09.09.08)
Maybe but in terms of Jews in government the UK beats the US every time. Margaret Thatcher had five Jews in a cabinet of 23. Gordon Brown has two in his. No Jew has come anywhere near being elected US president. Remember Disraeli?
9. Evidence
Jared Scheib ,   Los Angeles, USA   (09.09.08)
Despite the fact that this is an opinion article, it doesn't contain any actual facts about how involved or influential Jews are on US politics. Just because religion is big in the USA and the Bible is considered a "cornerstone" by some, that doesn't imply in the least that Jews and Judaism play an influential role in American politics, which seems to be the essential and only idea of this opinion piece. With this argument, the "logical" idea-cum-conclusion could just as easily have been about "Christianity's impact on US democracy." Please substantiate your "opinion" with something.
10. In ww2 FDR refused to order to bombs Auschwitz
e.m Jordan is Palse ,   s,f   (09.09.08)
By the bombing the Auschwitz they could safe the life 2 million Jews also the U.S have refused to give refuge to thousands of Jews that have escaped by the ship and they returned them back to Germany which all of them have been killed. I do not believe in this article because when it will come to their interest they do not hesitated to scarifies Jewish life
11. to #3 I wrote that to Y and the Post
jason white ,   afula,israel   (09.09.08)
for a long time. Jews would rather vote for a dem than a republican friend of the Jews and Israel.
12. Obama is a 'Muslim'
Abe ,   NYC,US   (09.09.08)
Obama said on television " my muslim faith". he needs to be asked if he believes Mohammed was a 'Prophet'. He does. He knows the verses of the Koran. His family in Africa are muslims. He was a student at a muslim school in Indonesia. 'If it walks like a muslim and talks like a muslim, then it is a muslim'!
13. #8 Thank God.!!!..
Edithann   (09.10.08)
And that's why the UK is a basket case now...Israel had it's chance with Lieberman..but they messed it up..and now with the anti Israeli feeling running so hight here..I think you can whistle 'Dixie' before a Jew is ever elected President of the US..We're kind of touchy with dual loyalists who don't have America as their first loyalty...... Anyway, a new Zionist plan is being developed where Jews are offering other Jews $50,000 to move to Alabama..it's the newest plan for a Jewish takeover of America, similar to the take over of Palestine.. We wont see it in our life time..but it's already in the planning stages..and it'll take more than 100 years..but it's in the works... TATA
14. #3 & 11 - Boy, are you out of touch!!
Global Citizen ,   Israel & USA   (09.10.08)
15. Jewish Impact on U.S. Politics
Suzanne de Kuyper ,   Amsterdam, NL   (09.10.08)
You must clarify your religeous catagories with more care. Zionist Judaism is antithetical to conventional and even reformed Judaism. It is a totally different religion. Zionism is the force that is meshed with U.S politics so seamlessly.
16. Right, and what do we get for it?
Steve from Raleigh   (09.10.08)
Blamed and accused of secretly running the government to our own nefarious ends.
17. #16..because it's all true..(End)
Edithann, USA   (09.10.08)
18. Re: Obama a "Muslim"
EL ,   NC   (12.07.08)
I understand a possible issue if he is a muslim and then lied about it saying he is not, but what does it matter if he is a muslim? What does that say about our religious freedoms in the US? What is wrong with the muslim faith? There is not many differences, at least in their moral ethics and values towards others.
