1. Shame on the Ashkenazi for remaining silent
robin ,   miami   (09.10.08)
2. Shame since the oriental jews are "The real jews"
(09.10.08)
3. Is this : Ve'ahavta et re'echa ?
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (09.10.08)
Sad story .
4. Ashkenazi racism
moriah ,   sacramento, usa   (09.10.08)
Is this how they show unity and love for their brother? They should be ashamed! The arrogance of them to think they can lord over the children of Israel and deny , due to their sickness, the basic most important tenent of Judaism - a Jewish education?
5. Is This The Whole Story?
nr ,   los angeles, USA   (09.10.08)
We have Bais Yaakov here in Los Angeles and everybody ethnic group goes there - even black Jews. How come no one interviewed Bais Yaakov (and don't say they did because there's no mention of their declining to comment to an interview). There's got to be more to the story than this.
6. A little criticism never hurt anyone...
Edithann, USA   (09.10.08)
You guys make me laugh...don't you realize what you think you've created is a sham?..Yet you continue with it..and lament.and whine about it.... I just love it...because you've never been any different..and will never be any different..except worse! So how are the bus beatings progressing and the modesty police? TATA
7. Amazing..
Paul ,   London England   (09.10.08)
...that those responsible have not been sacked. One is left wondering why any decent parent would wish to send his or her child to such a school.
8. a mizrachi?
simcha ,   israel   (09.10.08)
was this for certain a reference to her ethnic descent, or were they commenting on her religious affiliation? bait yaakov does not admit students of "mizrachi", meaning religious zionist, orientation. and from my experience, "mizrachi" students are better not attending. even so, once parents get a court order, how is the child going to be treated? in an unbiased manner? i hope so.
9. BUSHA!!!
Chaya ,   Bat Yam   (09.10.08)
Another incident that will keep people away from Judaism!! This reminds me so much of the black children who had to be accompanied by police in order to attend school! And I wonder how she will be treated by the teachers and other students!! I think the school ought to be shut down!
10. If the facts are as stated . . .
Shalom   (09.10.08)
then it is a great shame that the schools haven't got the courage to stop discrimination based on ethnicity. If there is a different reason, for example, that the family has a television, which Beit Yaakov schools do not allow, or that the families have different views to mainstream "Hareidim" (they say Mizrachi in the article - does this mean "right wing Settler types?") - then the children would not be suited to this school and should go to one that has the same political orientation as the families.
11. ADVISE
DAVID ,   JUDEA   (09.11.08)
It is time for Ynet to remove the Jewish world section. By know anyone with half a brain knows that our Humanists at Ynet love the profane and leave no oppertunity untouched to demonize and incite secular Israelis to hate Judaism. The constant barrage of filth published by Ynet would do well in any antisematic country. Why not write only about your own agenda and leave the Jewish world alone, we do not desire nor want your biased ugly selfhating attention.
12. school admission
elliot ,   usa   (09.11.08)
if other girs are admitted then these girs must be omitted-there must be limits to factionalism if JEWA ARE TO REMAIN SOVEREIGN IN THE lAND OF iSRAEL
13. #6 if you don't care , why are you reading ynet?
rachel ,   usa   (09.11.08)
you are just a jealous hypocrite . Tata .....to you .....
14. Funny, terrorists never discriminate between Ashknz & Sephar
shneerhere ,   USA   (09.11.08)
Yeah, anti-Semites and terrorists and Nazis never discriminate between Ashkenazis and Sephardics, but we do...!
15. #11 I have Sephardic family rejected from Ashkenazi schools
Aharon   (09.11.08)
You can't deflect this that easily. I have several family members who chazru betshuva and became Haredim -- only we are of sephardic descent. As soon as the interviewers understood they were dealing with someone with the surname "Danino", the interview was over. And let's not forget that recent expose (I can't remember the channel) in which a Mizrahi and Ashkenazi student were sent to apply to the same Haredi school - the Mizrahi was rejected on the grounds that the school was full, while the Ashkenazi, who applied after, was accepted. Racism in the Haredi world is rampant, there is no denying it and your usual rants and deflections wont change it.
16. Charadi schools
Ratcht ,   Rehovot   (09.11.08)
I can't imagine who in their right mind would want to send their children to such a school in the first place. However, keeping a child from attending such a school should he want to because of his background is absolutely unexceptable. Turn the money faucet off if this continues
17. Hands up - who is shocked?
Talula ,   Israel   (09.11.08)
Those scum have no boundaries and they are devoid of any human decency. Why would ANYONE want to make a child feel like such an outcast? Just when I think I couldn't hate them anymore - I realize I can, and very easily. They are detestable people who take pleasure in instilling their sick warped views on the rest of us. Now they have lowered their age limit to 6 years old. Too loathsome for words.
18. #10 - Same political outlook??
Chaya ,   Bat Yam   (09.11.08)
Since when should politics be a factor in admitting a child to a school??? This is absurd!! Any school/institution that rejects a child should be closed!! Or, at the very least, not get public money!! If you want a certain 'political orientation,' start a private school and have parents pay with their own money as is done in other countries!!
19. S'fardim can do better!
Y ,   Nitzan, Israel   (09.11.08)
That Ashkenazim-Chareidi discriminate against S'fardim in education, marriage, etc is well-known and wide spread in Israel. Why would S'fardim want to use such a school system when there is a Shas system? Better yet, send your religious child to the religious - zionist system (Torani if you like) where all ethnic groups are mixed and the love of Land and Clal Yisrael is taught.
20. Antisemitism Home-made
Yohanan   (09.12.08)
Jewish disunity is killing us throughout history. A disgraceful conduct of Ashkenazi Haredim - earning peoples hatered rightfully.
21. Take the kid out!
DAT ,   NYC NYS   (09.14.08)
How are you going to force the school to accept the 5 year old? Imagine how difficult they will make life for the 5 year old, because they were force to accept what they rejected? The classmates will ridicule, make the child's life miserable, because they have been taught to reject people of "oriental" backgrounds. Send the kid to a school, which is just as good, but where they will be accepted and treated well.
