This is terrible...looks like the Russians are getting more and more anti-Israel...
2. russian bear at it again.
Mark Katzman ,   USA   (09.13.08)
So one could assume that russia's presence bodes ill for Israel and Israel is ill-prepared to deal with the new addition. The russkies will be a thorn in Israel's side, giving aid to the ayrabs while posing a deterrent to Israeli defensive action. I'm curious, are the "leftist" news media in Israel worried even in the least?
3. LOL, so what?
Antonio ,   Haifa   (09.13.08)
Russkies "patrolling" the Mediterranean? LOL! So what? Let they waste their resources on this nonsense!
4. Israel into NATO
nadav ,   tel aviv   (09.13.08)
why should Georgia join NATO and not Israel? Here we see russia's influence go well beyond its self-proclaimed sphere of influence!! why only expand NATO to Ukraine and Georgia, take Israel in too!!
5. As long as we hold the Golan Heights.
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (09.13.08)
The security argument is a first-tier argument. We are expecting to be surrounded by an Iranian crescent that will link up with the Shiites in Iraq, with the Shiites in Syria, with the Shiites in Lebanon, together with the Sunnis of Al-Qaeda and Hamas. Sooner or later, it will come, and then what will we say when the Syrians are sitting on Lake Kinneret? There will be nothing preventing Syria from violating any agreement reached once Israel gives up its strategic advantage on the Golan Heights. We should remember that this is also a question of justice, a question of continuous [Jewish] connection with the Golan region, and also a question of common sense. We should have common sense. We should stay on the Golan as explained at : http://xrl.us/bmazn
6. This time Syrians shall keep peace with Israel
Damir ,   Russia   (09.13.08)
As we do.

as an israeli, i sense a slight sarcasm on your part. so tell me... syria will be keeping the peace with israel as much as russia is presently "keeping the peace" with its former states which abandoned it and sought freedom on their own? this kind of peace we do not need. your country is, has been and will forever be a source of trouble and instability in the middle east. it is just in your regime's nature to do so. your rulers consistently ally themselves with rouge and militaristic as well as terrorist regimes and dictatorships. tell me who your friends are and i will tell you who you are....as the saying goes. no offense to russians which are warm and kind people and of which, i am one of them from my past.
8. Russia is not hostile, this is
Charles   (09.13.08)
good for Syria and Israel and bad for Palis
9. Isn't it interesting that Ezekiel said 2500 yrs. ago that

10. Russia's presence !?
(09.13.08)
If the new drivers of the Russian political vehicle want to flex their muscles by showing up on our door step, no problem, we know them very well. I mean, with all their massive might they cannot, should not and will not dare touch us. But if they start playing their old games of proxy warfare, their proxy will have its wings clipped in no time. They surely remember the five invading Arab wars fought against Israel by Jew-hating Arab leaders using Russian hardware and ordnance and how quickly and totaly their war machines and contraptions were put to rest. And besides, the Mediterranean Sea has plenty of place for many other war ships, from other places as well. As for their new-old buddies, the Syrians, I hope they understand they are just chasing wild geese when they claim the Golan Heights. This is off limit for anyone !
