We could discuss the pluses and mnuses of the British parlimentary system and the US Presidential systems till tomorrow. Obviously both systems have their merits and negatives. As long as we are human we will never get the perfect system. I am sorry if I was a bit brash about my initial response to you. But I was angered by your initial outright simplistic condemnation of Israeli democracy (singling just Israel out while this type of democracy is seen in all countries that inherited the British parlimentary system) , This sounded more like you were using it as an excuse to express your dislike (or maybe even hate) for Israel. If I was wrong about this I present my excuses.

Maurice, I am an Israeli citizen, as is my wife. I served in the IDF. I harbor no hatred for Israel. On the contrary, the reason I participate in these discussions is a naive belief that through debate comes change--and Israel needs change to reach her full potential. I also apologize if I was a bit hotheaded. Certainly democracies come in many forms, none of them perfect. And I really do like Canada! My father's family has been very successful there, and I am grateful that Canada gave that branch of my family tree freedom from Czarist Russia.
