charges and get the money from the Israeli public. Which they would do in any case.

You're making a common mistake. Why would Bank Leumi raise it's charges? If it is a profit-maximizing entity, it already charges the prices that maximize it's profits. Charging any more than what it already charges would decrease it's profits. So rest assured, Bank Leumi won't (or at least shouldn't) charge any more than it does now.

This bank allowed a Senior employee to mistreat junior employees and harass them. They deserve what they lost. They also stole from holocaust survivors.

Dear Jason have you not noticed the key sentence in this great article? Go back and read it again, go to where it is written " Leumi claims that last Friday, it ordered Lehman Brothers to sell stocks it was invested in " HOW DID Leumi know to sell and why sell $88,000,000.00 of 100,000,000.00 it has invested in Lehmans? Is Leumi an Israeli government owned bank or private now?

raise the cost of using the AMT by fifty agora and to cash a check by fifty agora and to withdraw money from the cashier by 75 agorot, then they will make less money? Are you from planet Bizarro? All banks here charge money for over two hundred transaction and services. They have almost the same fees charged. Each Israeli family pays hundreds of shekels each year to the banks. Did you ever meet someone who received interest from an Israeli bank? I have lived here 33 years and I never met one person who said he or she received any interest on money deposited here. If there is some interest, the banks take it plus for the paperwork to get the money out of the account. We should charge the banks for the couple of dozen times we have to initial the papers.

Bank Leumi is charging more every day on it's customers because it's no real competition in Israel. All of the banks are charging the same high price.
10. #4, its no mystery, all major banks, players have....
New Allegiance ,   USA   (09.19.08)
analysts, forecasters, etc who do the technical work and see trends, patterns, whatever you want to call it. Hedge funds do it, investment houses do it, even smaller brokerage houses have it... why shouldn't Bank Leumi be doing the same?

I understand that bank Leumi might charge a lot, but it makes no economic sense to raise prices when the company withstands an extraordinary cost. A raise in prices is done in two situations: 1)If there's a change in the market, that is, inflation (or the specific inflation that banks suffer from, not just a consumer index), change in demand or change in market composition (that is, a duopoly becoming a monopoly, or something like that) 2)When the company is unsure of the price that maximizes it's profits. Even in a monopoly if, for example, someone sues the bank and wins, and receives some money from it, the bank should not increase it's fares. At least not BECAUSE of the lawsuit.
