4. The UN ... don't expect much from them
Christy ,   Boston, US   (09.24.08)
I think it's a disgrace to EVER give Ahmadinejad a public forum. Hasn't the world heard enough from him? (Apparently not.) I'm NOT surprised that he spoke at the UN. I don't expect much from that organization. The UN currently seems to give legitimacy to dictators in poorer nations, while taking money from the richer ones. The UN started with good intentions. It HAS done some great things in the past. But what about in the last 10 years? What has the UN done that couldn't be done cheaper/better without it? I'm not at all surprised the UN had Ahmadinejad speak. After all, the UN isn't accountable for anything it does. How about a once-a-year audit? I'd certainly like to know where all the money goes & what is actually DONE to help the people in poorer nations. How many people have been made wealthy while eating from the UN's money trough? How many villages received clean drinking water last year via the UN? Don't be surprised at anything the current UN does.

14. Peres at the UN
motti birnberg ,   beer sheva, Israel   (09.24.08)
We may be grateful that the nations' representatives were given a rare opportunity to hear Shimon Peres. He is, indeed, Israels President of All the People and political partisanship of the past can be dismissed. That's just Zionist history and no longer relevant. Motti
15. 12 - they are worthy and deserving to be attacked
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (09.24.08)
and all who love freedom, liberty, love, and hope should speak out against these ignorant terrorists.
16. Israel Suffers Battered-Wife Syndrome With UN
MK ,   Philadelphia USA   (09.24.08)
I am still trying to understand why Israel wants to be a member of an organization that is devoted to the extinction of the Jewish State. Any cursory look at UN Sec Council resolutions over the decades shows that the UN has been almost single-mindedly obssessed with Israel - as if there is nothing else in the world. Israel needs to get the guts to join Switzerland outside of the idiotic Utopian Nightmare of the UN. And Peres is a moron, with or without the UN.
17. Sam "he is right man..." What US state you really from?
UTehran import ,   American trator   (09.24.08)
18. The disgrace is not the speech
Sagi ,   Israel   (09.24.08)
The disgrace is the fact that he is allowed to actually be in the UN building and give such a speech.
19. I am amazed at the incitement printed, yet Bible verses will
DANNY ,   America   (09.24.08)
not be published. Israel you guys need to get your heads out of the sand. Who taught you your history and said "it wasn't so" "oh Moses crossed the reed sea, they just walked on reeds and the chariots got stuck" Robbing the truth of the awesome thing that God has done, you say "Oh he didn't really dwell in our mists, just his name did" Well I am beginning to see the real reason for the mess you all are in. DISBELIEF Reread your history and see what that brings you.
20. peres is not the president of Israel!
jason white ,   afula,israel   (09.25.08)
he was elected by our enemies in the knesset. The people of Israel would never vote for the Loser!. As for the missing link's speech being a shamel, peres should know he has given enough himself. Is this the best we have to send to the u.n.? Will we ever see peres retire and shut up? Probably not.
21. # 17- I couldn't understand your question but …
sam ,   iran,Tehran   (09.25.08)
Today Islamic regime and some Arabic thinks that always world need their oil but it is wrong imagination because in future technology will be develop more so may be people find another energy sources even different way for using energy then Islamic regime like Iran and even some Arabic country should not be hopeful or proud about their oil actually life style will be change in future there is no any guaranty that people purchasing oil from them tomorrow that's why I told Mr. Peres is right man and tells right thing any how if believe that my opinion is wrong then please tell me I will Appreciate from you
22. Great speech!
Aharon   (09.25.08)
Despite what all the fanatics on this site will say, Peres has made immense contributions to Israel. Like everyone else he has made mistakes for which we payed with blood, but when we came to live here we already knew that is the price we would have to pay.
23. speech a shame?
Meir ,   Arad   (09.25.08)
Maybe. The real shame is that Israel keeps talking instead of acting. The same applies to all the threats against Israel, Iran, Lebanon, Syria, and Hamas. The enemy keeps getting stronger and Israel is all talk, all bark no bite.
24. Do not ignore the “lunacy” of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (09.25.08)
Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi accused Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of "lunacy", and warned against taking his words too lightly. "I think we must pay the utmost attention to the lunacy of someone who says, perhaps for internal reasons, that Israel must be wiped off the map," Berlusconi said in a speech to a Jewish organization in Paris. Iran has become one of Israel’s most vehement enemies, framing its grievances around religious doctrine and anti-Semitic invective as explained at : http://xrl.us/bizzs
25. #22 aharon....What contributions has he made?
JAyjay ,   Israel   (09.25.08)
Oslo? Atalenna? Gush Katiff? Propping up a bogus Palastine? He is as crooked as his mate Olmert, and was undemocratically put into this position as President. He has never been an asset to Israel and is only currently President as a devious way to prop up Olmerts evil plans! Its not even supposed to be the presidents job to go to the UN!
