1. INCITEMENT !!!!!!!!!
DAVID ,   JUDEA   (09.25.08)
One article after another the Hellenist media , is increasing its propaganda , inciting and demonizing the usual scapegoats. In the end they will not sucseed in their evil designs.
2. Huh?
Gabriel ,   Toronto   (09.25.08)
Why are most of the comments on this site by far-right loonies? These are the same people who cheered Rabin's assassination and care only about their own narrow world-view not connected to 95% of Israelis or Jews. Attacks of any kind are despicable.
3. terror
Invicta ,   Europa   (09.25.08)
Further evidence, if required, that the right wing are the real terrorists. And whilst people on the left call for tolerance, peace and co-habitation those on the right promote division, hatred and subjugation.. But say they do so in the name of 'peace'. Settlers, extremists and the right wing are all advancing the same agenda; a monotheistic, apartheid monoculture.
4. What a bore - If someone has the character to kill this pig
Konoi ,   Aleutian Islands   (09.25.08)
Let them do the job or shut the hell up - teasing is unacceptable !!!!!!!!!!!
5. Why?
Tal ,   New York, USA   (09.25.08)
All terrorism is unacceptable. However, it could be understood why some could do what they do because Peace Now works against the interest of Israel.
6. Kingdom of Judea, huh?
JPS ,   Efrat   (09.25.08)
Darn tootin great idea!!! I'm all for it! So long, of course, as I am crowned king. These guys are dangerous whackos who make us think of the Branch Davidians. They are NOT settlers. They are NOT part of the mainstream population out here. They are NOT accepted by the majority of residents here, so far as I can tell. And yea, they give Jews and Judeans a bad name. I hope the cops find 'em quick and the courts lock 'em away. Kingdom of Judea... what a stupid concept. Next thing there'll be the Peoples' Front of Judea and the Judean Peoples' Front.
7. #3, Further nonsense from the usual suspect
Jake   (09.25.08)
"And whilst people on the left call for tolerance, peace and co-habitation" Your peaceful Sternhell has called on Palestinians to concentrate their planting of bombs in the Jewish settlements, and for the IDF to annihilate the settlements with tanks. He just wants others to do the dirty work for him. The Left have been responsible for more deaths in the world in the last 100 years than the Right (80 millions perished at the hands of Communism), but they are more adept at spinning everything they do as in the service of world peace and brotherhood, just like you do, fraud that you are. Everyone knows by now it's a bunch of crap.
8. "peace now" are anti-semetic, pro-terrorist scum who want to
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (09.25.08)
destroy Israel. They provoke and invite violence, so why should they be surprised when someone takes them up on their wish?
9. The damn politicians make so much
jason white ,   afula,israel   (09.25.08)
noise over this. Too bad they do not decry the attacks on Sderot and the rest of the western Negev, the terror attack with the BMW in Jerusalem, Gilad's kidnapping and the rest of the terror attacks against us Jews. This shows that Bibi is one of them and should be spurned by in the next elections. Finally Bibi says whoever did this are not part of the public debate. But this peace now traitor is. I bet more people would be glad to see some of these enemies jailed or expelled from our country. Send them and their families to gaza,so they can be with their own kind.
10. Re: Professor Sternhell
Steve ,   Fla.   (09.25.08)
I am a man who does not like violence. I did not know this Israeli historian and writer for Haaretz. I did a quick google search. My goodness, Professor Sternhell holds / promotes some radical views. It looks as though Professor Sternhell incites to murder against his fellow Jews: This is what I found in part at Wikipedia: "Zeev Sternhell (born 1935) is an Israeli historian and one of the world's leading experts on Fascism. Sternhell headed the Department of Political Science at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and writes for Haaretz newspaper. Sternhell was awarded the Israel Prize for Political Science in 2008. "Sternhell has called for use of IDF tanks against Jews living in Judea and Samaria, and encouraged Arab terror attacks on the Jews living outside Israel's pre-1967 borders. Sternhell wrote in the Davar newspaper in 1988: "In the end we will have to use force against the settlers in Ofra or Elon Moreh. Only he who is willing to storm Ofra with tanks will be able to block the fascist danger threatening to drown Israeli democracy." In the Haaretz newspaper, in 2001, Sternhell said: "There is no doubt about the legitimacy of [Palestinian] armed resistance (i.e. terrorism) in the territories themselves. If the Palestinians had a little sense, they would concentrate their struggle against the settlements… and refrain from planting bombs west of the Green Line."
11. How an ideological conflict looks like
observer   (09.25.08)
the local Yitzhar rabbi said: "We must adopt a policy of collective punishment against the Arabs, even to the level of reprisals. There will be many opportunities coming up, both by encouraging the Arabs to leave and deporting them forcibly. But we must start with encouragement now," said Rabbi David Dudkevitch. Dudkevitch, Zionist rabbi, teach that non-Jews living under Jewish rule must be enslaved as "hewers of wood hewers and water carriers," and be expelled or exterminated. He also argues that in wartime, Jews may murder non-Jewish civilians at will irrespective of whether these people are innocent or not.. at the village of Asira Al-Qibliya south of Nablus, this week, dozens of heavily armed settler terrorists rampaged through the peaceable Arab community, shooting randomly at terrified Palestinians and vandalising their homes and cars. At the end of the attempted pogrom, eight locals were injured, including two sustaining serious gunshot wounds. Peace Now denounced the army's nonchalance towards the settlers and urged the army to revoke the gun licences of the settlers. "It is obvious that the settlers don't miss any opportunity to cause harm to Palestinians and endanger human lives," said Peace Now Secretary-General Yariv Openheimer.
12. Who did this intolerable act and why???
Prof. Reuven Bar-On ,   Israel   (09.25.08)
This is, indeed, an intolerable act. And it is extremely important for maintaining the democratic nature of the State of Israel to impartially investigate who exactly is responsible for this act of terrorism. The question is (1) who and/or what organization is behind this intolerable act and (2) for what reasons. Could this be an organization on (a) the far right or (b) the far left, or could this have been organized, carried out or encouraged by (c) the ‘state’ Security Service (“Shabak”) which has traditionally been active in protecting the Labor Party in Israel since the early 1950s. The motif for possibility "b" and "c" could be to help weaken national zionist parties on the so called right. Of course, this has to be carefully and impartially examined by national investigating committee who do not connections with any political party, the Security Service or Police. Good luck democracy!
13. I totally denounce this hateful act
Ge ,   Zikron Yaakov   (09.25.08)
Regardless of whoever did this. Just as denounce Professor Shernhell's hateful comments. There has been no proof of anybody or any group's involvement so we must not condem without proof. I support Professor Sternhell's rights to free speech as I do my own. Unlike the leftists I do support free speech, even when I hate the message.
14. Re: Reuven #12
Steve ,   Fla.   (09.25.08)
I agree, this is an intolerable act that must be impartially investigated. If the act was perpetrated by the far right, I cannot see how this would in any way help the right's cause. This we do know. Prime Minister elect, now Foreign Minister, Tzipy Livini is on record supporting territorial compromise, the uprooting of whole Jewish communities and the establishment of a Palestinian (unquestionably, terrorist) state in Judea, Samaria, Gaza and perhaps east Jerusalem. Whether this intolerable act was perpetrated by the right or by the left, surely it will be used as pretext or a partial pretext to accomplish FM, soon to be Prime Minister Livni's plan for Israel's future dismemberment.
15. Sternhell is a Judenrat!
Ronit   (09.25.08)
Sternhell is a Judenrat who called for the murder of Israelis. His place is behind bars.
16. The fact that Sterhell is a political idiot...
Ariel ben Zion ,   Lisboa, Portugal   (09.25.08)
The fact that Sterhell is a political idiot (I didn't say anything about his academic work) does not recommend him as a victim of terrorism. The fact that he supports terrorism does not recomend us, who are against it, to fight him back in the terms he recomends others to do agains us. Democracy is a regime where even unsufferable political idiots are admitted as citizens - although I think that people who speak like Sternhell should not be admitted in the Knesset. The attack against should be: First - Unequivocally condemned in moral terms. Those who perpetraded it destroy the foundations of the country. Second - They are the most stupid people in political terms that can be imagined! Just guess how lucky the "poor victims" of Peace Now will feel after it... If the purpose was to punish Peace Now the effect is the exact opposite!!!!!!!!!!
17. "leftist professor"?
Tal ,   Tel Aviv   (09.25.08)
He isn't a "leftist professor" but a TRAITOR professor who adviced the Arabinians to attack Jews, he brought the Oslo disaster on us and the murder of 1500 of our people.
18. In other words, in contrast with all the bombs laid down by
shimi ,   Tel Aviv   (09.25.08)
In other words, in contrast with all the bombs laid down by the people Kadima leaders released in the various releases of terrorist murderers. This single case is intolerable? What hypocrisy!
19. this Sternhell traitor should move in with
Charles   (09.25.08)
his Hamas family in Khan Yunis...
20. Obvious Shabak incitement to win numbers 4 the anti-zionists
Yehuda ,   Golan   (09.25.08)
this sign is so corny that it has to be shabak. something smells rotten like avishai raviv
21. gosh, imagine what Livni would have said if a rightwing prof
sarah ,   acre   (09.25.08)
gosh, imagine what Livni would have said if a rightwing prof had been targeted? No doubt, that he had gotten his comeuppance from a progressive peace seeking activist!
22. why exactly 1.1 million?
observer   (09.25.08)
has it already been agreed that the taxes will not exceed 0.1 million? certainly, that price is much better than that on the chastity squad's list: "For two bones we would get $1,600 and divide it amongst ourselves. There was this one case where the guy was big and had big bones; we got $3,300 because he was a harder case." Mass production or destruction counts!
