Bill Clinton started all of this. When he was in the White House he told the Egyptians to call for a nuclear free Middle East which Mubarak has been calling for constantly. The US doesnt want a nuclear Israel as far as they are concerned the fewer nuclear powers in the world the better and its nukes are the last hold Israel has over the US and is the only reason they are commited to Israel having a strategic edge through conventional weapons. Without that the US would dump Israel and sell the rich arabs anything they wanted without worrying about how its going to affect Israel. The US wants Israel to give up its nukes but its to politicly sensetive for a serving US president to call for so he gets one of Israels naighbors to call for what sounds like a very reasoble peace making gesture. A NUCLEAR FREE MIDDLE EAST .. Israel is obviously the only one who would be affected by this policy but as its not directed at Israel spesificly it sounds very reasonble. Right now the arabs are terrified of Iran so they want to weaken Israel and Israel itself has fallen into the trap of being to vocal publicly about Iran. Israel should have been pushing the US behind the scenes but not making public statements which can be easily turned against Israel by Iran, the arabs & the IAEA .. who is Israel to be calling for the world to make sure Iran doesnt get nukes when it has nukes of its own. Israel needs to shut up publicly and try put preasure on the US behind the scenes not say to much about its own nuclear program, get Peres to keep his mouth shut for once because he has recently been talking about nuclear free region not just nuclear free Iran.
