Part of Israels strength is its unpredictability. The Arabs plan on something then get smacked hard by something they didn't foresee or plan on. This unpredictability irritates everybody even the USA.

I would add only that the Muqauma also capitalizes on Israel's unwillingness to take and hold territory and/'or remove enemy civilians from said territory. iSRAEL has the strenght, and the capabilities to destroy its enemies, it lacks the leadership with the will to act. Israel has gone into a make believe mode that its enemies are not after its destruction, and that is wrong. Tolerance of agression is a way for defeat. To Moshe: I agree with you totally. Israel is being diverted both by the gradual threat to it's security beyond it's borders, AND it's internal feuding and fragmentation. Israel all along has had the awesome power to stop Hez AND Hamas, but didn't. It releases convicted terrorists...for murdered Jews. It gives life sentences to killers who should be hung. It argues over whether homes of terrorists should be destroyed. It pampers protestors at the fence, (which it hasn't completed). It still hasn't relocated permanently many of the 8,000 evicted from their homes for decaces. It still is negotiating with Abbas, even though he says outright that the right of return is on the table. It talks low level with Syria, while Syria forbids inspections. It practices rescue maneuvers with US..rescue? It looks to Livni to save it from itself..a timid, politico at best, who both obeyed her boss (Olmert) while criticizing him in foreign capitals. Israel has no policy, except putting off the inevitable. It needs a Begin, Shamir, Ben-Gurion, Sharon (in his prime), and Dayan to lead it.....it is being strangled without really feeling it yet. But Iran's nukes loom, and it still has no agreement with McCain or Obama, whose Holocaust statements are just empty words. The world liked the idea of the Holocaust..they didn't care. They acted too late. They didn't even bomb Auschwitz and slow down the kllling rate. Yet we Jews ended that war (Einstein, Oppenheimer, etc.) w/o which we would be speaking Russian, or Japanese or German.

It is called total victory. Smash Gaza, kill or arrest the entire criminal Hamas leadership. Blockade all oil coming out of Iran using subs- any tanker that leaves with Iranian oil to be sunk (the shippers won't be able to get insurance so Iran's oil shipment end)- either they stop their nuclear program or their regime collapses. As for Hezbollah, stopping Iran should solve most of the problem, if it comes to war, occupy all of Lebanon and root out Hezbollah to the last man. The price for fleeing Lebanon in 2000 and losing in 2006 will be significant casualties in the next war but will buy a generation of peace.

That is precisely the tactic used by Israel against the Palestinians. It is too obvious to murder them all with Israel's obvious superior arms, so it slowly wears them down as it steals more of their land. End result: Israel gets all of the West Bank and Gaza Strip, while it keeps the Golan Heights and Shabaa farms. So why shouldn't Israel's "enemies" do the same?
