1. What, no women?
Petra ,   usa   (10.23.08)
are they kept in the back of the bus?
2. #1 No honey thet are back at the kitchen sink
ava ,   Ramat HaSharon   (10.23.08)
No honey they are back covered from head to toe so as not to offend their men folk, preparing dinner and looking after their herd of kids.
3. So happy - no women.
Talula ,   Israel   (10.23.08)
4. I'm happy to dance with my ''playboy''
de-sire   (10.23.08)
5. The Madwomen in the Attic
Arielush ,   Ramat Ha Golan   (10.23.08)
Perhaps they locked them in the gallery like they did in Zefat.
6. I wonder how many of them are unemployed
(10.23.08)
7. didn't your mother always tell you
motti ,   bet shemesh   (10.23.08)
if you have nothing nice to say, keep quiet. aAl 5 talkbacks so far are reflections of very NON tollerant secular society. Why can't you comment on the fact that orthodox and non orthodox are dancing and enjoying the chag together. This is the work of Chabad, to bridge the gap and unite all jews. Now go ot there and find something nice to say about another Jew.
8. To Moti: If you have nothing nice to say..
Arielush ,   Ramat Ha Golan   (10.23.08)
Another man telling a woman to be quiet. If you notice all the TB's are from women. These pictures are paradigmatic of the secular religious fissure. Yes, religious and secular are dancing together, but there is not one women in the picture. We've come a long way baby. And we're not going back to hide in the kitchen or the women's gallery.
9. kfar habad
allen strauss ,   new york usa   (10.23.08)
everyone is in kfar habad??? really??? I don't see any women!
10. To #1 & 2
Eli ,   Raanana Israel   (10.23.08)
If you would look a little bit closer you will see that there is a womens' section on the balcony. ps Chabad makes no distinction between religous people and the not yet religous.
11. To # 7 Motti , and the others
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (10.23.08)
What's your problem [ others ] ? that there are no women dancing with the Tora ? That's those women's accepted way of life , and even i think that segregation is not acceptabel in the 21 st century , it's their life , not mine . If they don't like to be slaves for their husbands , they can take the very difficult decision and begin another life . Does it hurt someone that they rejoice with the torah ? There are serious critics we can have regarding some of those religious men , but this ?
12. #6 all of them, exept the band
ministery of labour   (10.23.08)
13. carry Torah like donkey, but not carry it out; it's true
observer   (10.23.08)
14. #1 why women?; the club was filled with full-blown gayness
(10.23.08)
15. #1 look! girls are notr women
(10.23.08)
16. you mean chabad bridges the gap and unite all MALE jews
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (10.23.08)
you want people to say something nice only? give them a reason.
17. Mike , please !
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (10.23.08)
Don't you see the joy in the eyes of all those people ? Have you once assisted at a TRUE Simcha Tora festivity ? I yes , not by chabad , but in a "chasidei Belz" synagogue . Let me say to you that their Joy is sincere . It's not staged . Why should we say something bad about their joy ? do they offend someone ? Yes , Chabad is'nt hatefull against non believers as some others are . I received a nice Shabbat Shalom from one of them abroad , when parking my car in front of my door . And that's why Motti says that they try to bridge the gap .
18. Tolerance is not a secular value in Israel ?
Ezra ,   Canada   (10.24.08)
As the talkbacks seem to prove. Let us rather hope that only the sickos do post...
19. There were sections for men and women
Roman ,   Lod, Israel   (10.24.08)
like at any Orthodox synagogue or event. Because, for some obscure reason that escapes the secular mindset, us religious folk prefer to focus on *prayer*, along with happiness that isn't associated with sex. What do you want people to have had there? Hakafot, or a Tel-Aviv club? And some of the comments here about the "gayness" in men dancing with men, women with women, only supports my point. Not everything has to be about inter-gender interaction, and the sexual tension therein. As for jobs - ask my Chabad Rabbi, he was there. When not volunteering his time at our synagogue, he works as a prison guard at Ramle Prison. This after he found that teaching wasn't enough to support his growing family. Or perhaps you want to talk BS about the folks living at the Kfar, half of whom have their own business, from beehives to orchands to clothes to judaica...
20. Simchat Torah
Bruce ,   Bakersfield USA   (10.24.08)
The only and biggest problem is that the lubvatich only accept those that like them. If you want to worship/pray with them or ask question or disagree they toss you out on your tush. This is jewish? Jews always ask...and ask for answers......why not lubavitch?
21. Bruce , 20 . The article was about celebration
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (10.24.08)
nothing else .
22. 17 - my comment was for #7
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (10.24.08)
i'm commenting on #7's comment, not on the article. if chabad wants to have a good time with males only, then more power to them. there is a descrepancy in #7's comment, so i commented on that. i should have made that clear.
23. Mike , # 7 says also :
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (10.24.08)
....say something nice about ANOTHER Jew . Since you are NOT Jewish , it's not directed at you , it's not your business . And , the women have joy TOO , they also received the Torah .
24. Roman , # 19 , everyone knows it !
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (10.24.08)
That there is a separation of the genders , it can even be seen on one of the pictures . Are those "rounds" with the Torah not called "HAKAFOT" ?
25. 23 - just about everything in my life is jewish
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (10.24.08)
i am submerged in everything jewish in this country whether i want or don't want. my language, neighbors, friends, shopping, parks, travel, food, government, work, laws, citizenship, news, children's school, holidays, politics, etc. there is no bubble or enclave to where i can retreat to escape things jewish or insulate myself from it (even if i wanted to avoid it all, which i don't). impossible. because jewish things are a huge unavoidable part of my life, i can comment on it, and it's within my rights to do so. just like jews in these talkbacks comment on christian things that do not affect judaism or israel, like the catholic pope's business in rome, for example. that's exactly the same situation, only reversed, and you've never heard me saying for anyone to butt out of something that's not their business because i believe in the freedom to say and think whatever anyone wants (as i've said before). just like you, i don't like inconsistency and hypocrisy. there is nothing wrong with pointing it out where ever it occurs. even if is regarding to jewish matters. if you and others can do it about christians and christian things, even about muslims and muslim things, then so can i.
26.  Mike
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (10.24.08)
But # 7 said ; ANOTHER , and you commented on this . It's not because you are submerged with everything Jewish that you become a Jew . You know that i lived for most of my life abroad , submerged with everything non Jewish . Did this give me the right to intervene in those purely non Jewish affairs ? No ! The same for you . Regarding the pope , if you refer to making pius XII a saint , yes it's our business , and you know why . I don't think that we intervene in purely non Jewish matters , only when it is Jewish or Israel related . I'm again giving you a hard time .
27. 25- that's exactly the point
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (10.24.08)
everything is related. it has nothing to do with "becoming a jew"(?), it is simply the fact that everything about my life has to do with jews and things jewish. it is being a member of this country and everything related to it that gives me an interest. when you were abroad and didn't "intervene" in non-jewish affairs, that's your prerogative. you could have if you wanted, but you chose not to. i prefer to be free and enjoy my freedoms. am i breaking any laws or rules by commenting here? who in their right mind puts imaginary laws and rules on themselves?
28. 27 is for 26, for those easily confused
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (10.24.08)
29. Mike , no , you don't break any law
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (10.24.08)
But as a "guest" a little bit more restraint is welcome , and this even if you are free to comment . I was'nt a "guest" there abroad . My home was less than 500 meter from the hospital i was born in . But as a Jew i had'nt to intervene if Catholics held a procession or not , it was'nt my problem , even if i was submerged with all those Non Jewish facts .
30. 29
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (10.24.08)
actually, i believe i behave rather well, and am quite restrained around here. have you ever considered that since i am so big on free speech i do not use that to say anything and everything i could? what did i say in this article - a comment on a factual error of a comment, not the article itself. notice i didn't comment on the article itself, which didn't interest me. i understand why you perceive me as a "guest". between 15-20 percent of citizens of this jewish state are not jewish. maybe they should have been driven away, removed, or whatever. but they were not and are your fellow citizens. seeing how you came from europe, i do not think it's healthy to view a certain minority of of fellow citizens as something less, in my humble opinion.
