3. Disgusting, yet not surprising.

After Haider received such lavish funeral in Austria, after antisemetic shirts were distributed in French stores, after prince Harry dressed himself as a Nazi - one shouldn't be surprised about a show like this. Europe has never truly changed.

Other people's "plat prefere" shown were those of Jacques Brel [ the great Belgian singer ] and Salvador Dali . The president of the Jewish community in northren Belgium called it a "naive" choice , not antisemitic for him . And he knows it better than both of you .

I don't think prince Harry's donning of Nazi uniform was necessarily antisemitic, and neither was Haider's lavish funeral, as I said on several occasions in recent days. Yet they were both tasteless. And so is this show. (maybe disgusting is too strong a word, but that's the initial reaction). And the condolence to such tastelessness, though "naive" and innocent at start, provides a decent breeding ground for more severe phenomena. In this respect, I meant that Europe has not changed (except for Germany, which was very exceptional in learning its lessons). In America, for example, such incidents would not happen.

Instead of "condolence" I meant condoning.
7. #4 charles. what i was trying to say in my tb is that
debra ,   usa   (10.26.08)
demonstrating how to cook hitler's favorite meal on tv is so unsavory as to make me gag just reading about it. and, therefore, it would probably make belgians sick, too. i just didn't think the belgians would want to see anything so putrid. they have more class than this.
8. Debra , thanks for the Belgians
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (10.26.08)
Freilich , president of the Jewish organisations in northren Belgium , said also that it was'nt smart , and that the cook , Meus , was naive by not thinking that it could hurt many people , Jews and Gentiles alike . But i think that most TV watchers , interested in cooking , will only look at the preparation , nothing else . There , as everywhere , cooking programs are popular .

Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (10.26.08)
As for Germany , you wrote WRONG things about the Belgians . How do you know that they have class ? Have you lived there ? Have you been there ? There are of course people with class , as everywhere , but you can't say that they have class , many are faraway from it .

If Mr Freilich from the "Joods Forum" [ Jewish organisation in Femish Begium ] thinks it's out of naivity , by underestimating this , i think he knows about what he is talking . Knowing the Forum , i can only tell you that if there is something antisemitic , they will not say "naive" PS regarding Austria , have you seen how silent our "teacher" from Prague remains ? this after her error

I have been in many European countries , have some knowledge of them , but can't say i know the people there . You think i'm Belgian . Not everyone on this site will agree that i'm " a good man" , Thanks .
