2. Beilin Who? Yeah, let the minority rule - what an idiot!
(10.24.08)
Livni cannot form a government . Cut the crap and announce fresh elections. ...and Yossi....go away, you represent a handful of pinky dreamers that have absolutely no idea.
3. no shame
jeremy ,   t-a   (10.24.08)
Beilin has no shame... he should lay as low as possible, he is soaked with blood of Israelis whom he sacrificed on the altar of his " peace process" and he never repented! Never said - I'm sorry, I was wrong! No way - Netanyuhu is a source of all evils for him he doesn't remember his dear mentor Sraid calling Shas - 17 soliders of peace when they joied the coalition with Barak and Meretz? And they gave them all they wanted. Why can't the public ostracize failed political dreamers or make them accountable for what they did to their country? Or they can kick only Sharon, calling him a butcher of Sabra and Shatilla? But the same token Beilin and Co are butchers of Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv.
4. The Anti-Democratic Far Left
Jake   (10.24.08)
Beilin has no support, and in the next election it is likely his emasculated party Meretz will not have even one seat in the Knesset. Will he then also be asking to join the coalition?
5. You brought Hamas & Fatah to our doorsteps! Go Away!!!

6. its time for the west to stop describing Israel as democrati
zionist forever   (10.24.08)
Now good old Yasser Belin shows that just like Olmert, Livni and Barak he hates the whole idea of democracy is a disgusting one With his desire to put together a narrow coalition of the left backed by the arab parties. Kadima - 29 seats Labout 19 seats Meeretz - 5 seats Gil ( probably will join ) - 7 seats TOTAL - 60 seats What Livni & Belin want is to create the most left wing government Israel has seen in many decades ( long before anybody heard of oslo even ) Now Livni thinks thats going to give her a mandate to run the country. I have no nostaligic feelings for the man but Olmert at least even if it was only out of sympathy for Sharon was at least elected he didnt inherit somebody elses crown by 431 members of their own party. The defenition of a public servent in Israel is the public are there to serve the government who are there to serve themselves. Israel has always been only on the border of democracy because of its politcal system but now what little democracy there was is slowly being eroded all thanks to a single government which has no wide scale support or respect. Either Israel changes this system that breeds nothing but coruption and bad government or the country belongs alongside the second rate banana republics rather than the western world. As things stand the only time Israel embraces democracy is for an image abroad or when a government is trying to gain legitimacy for its policies in practise its resembles every other state in the region.
7. Why don't they let us decide who should be in government
J A O ,   Israel   (10.24.08)
Is that too much to ask?
8. BiBi NOW!!!
David Masada ,   Orlando, FL   (10.24.08)
Enough with those left wing lunatics that are willing to give Israel to the arab mongrels! What's next? They're going to discuss going back to pre 1948 lines? ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. WE ARE STRONG, WE DO NOT NEED WUSSIES AT THE HEAD OF THIS GREAT NATION !!!
9. #6 Don't worry, we don't describe Israel as a democracy.
Westerner ,   USA, A Real Democray   (10.24.08)
10. Incompetent leaders...
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (10.25.08)
Can Israel overcome its own dangerous tendencies to delusion, wishful thinking, and appeasement that have been encouraged by its mostly incompetent leaders since 1992. In March 2006 Israelis, after all, elected the most incompetent government they now so lament being saddled with. The fortitude of the Israeli army and citizenry during last summer's Lebanon war showed the other side of the Israeli psyche, which remains strong, tough, and determined. Israel will not cope well with the military and terrorist dangers it faces until and unless this government is removed and replaced by people who understand the Middle East, security, and world politics and are capable of coherent and effective action. We should be prepared to any eventuality : http://xrl.us/bi5de

Sheila ,   Jerusalem,Israel   (10.25.08)
Oh dear, are you a yored or are you just ignorant? Israel is very much a democracy, much more so that the USA. We have socialised medicine and great social services which prevent Israel from becoming a heartless state which cares only for the successful and leaves the others on the street to die. We have an informed populace who watch the news more than they watch Oprah and try to know what is happening in their country and their world. Now that is democracy. One need not be rich to reach high office - one just needs to be politically savvy and the leader of a party which is less despised than the other party!!!!! We may not be perfect but we are really good at being democratic
