1. good for her
eliezer ,   jerusalem   (10.26.08)
It is about time an Israeli leader showed something of principles. Although I am not in favor of her or her party, I do admire her (purported) principles...... Or perhaps, she saw she could not make a coalition to give away the country and so she declared that Shas and the Pensioners are unrealistic in order to diminish the public support of these two parties in the next elections.
2. Your responsibility to Israel is to never cede any land ever
Zippy   (10.26.08)
There are laws on the book exactly for this reason--TREASON! Israel hold your elected officials to the promises they make in these elections. Change your electoral rules. May G*d bless you with strong and determined leaders who can resist bribes and blackmails from within and from the rest of the world. L'Shana Tova!!
3. Ovadia holds country to ransom!!!!
Butterfly ,   Tel Aviv   (10.26.08)
Good for Zipi for having a backbone! It's time people realised that the country has just been to ransom by one man. Shas wanted millions of USD knowing they wouldn't get it. Maybe some money would have reached the poor but some wanted to line their own pockets. Do they think Bibi is going to give it to them- or any other man for that matter ??? Is that what Bib's furtive talks with Shas were about. For once we have someone - Zipi - who can actually do something. Wake up and think about it!! And the orthodox had better get their heads out of the sand!
4. MEDIA DARLING
DAVID ,   JUDEA   (10.26.08)
Not that it is of any importance , but the people have been demanding elections since the second failed Lebanon war. Being the darling of the media , because of her defeatist attitude and willingness to give up on the concept of a Jewish state, Tsipi is a looser like all her fellow backwards Kadima members. Now one only has to hope that the people will not be deceived by the endless brainwashing of the corrupt Israeli media. Besides that, it will be very difficult to expect an honest outcome from a corrupt system.
5. Livni Works For Arab Country, Not Israel
Yonatan ,   Nahariya   (10.26.08)
This left wing drek like Livni thinks the common Israeli want to give away Jerusalem to murderers? Is she now smoking crack? Nobody ever voted for Kadima, This is a hijacked government run by thieves who would sell the soul of Israel. I am glad Shas finnally got a backbone and did the right thing by not joining.
6. A little 2-step
Fred ,   US   (10.26.08)
Let's see: You say 'no', : then I reject you as I would have sold you into government for 1/2 as much- 500,000 shekels and give away 1/2 of Jerusalem. The zipidee du duh shuffle on to Buffalo. You can't fire me -I quit, she says. Her worst nightmare: an election! Bye
7. "convinced she will win" - she must be using hallucinogens .
redmike ,   Tel Aviv   (10.26.08)
She had little popularity before, but has now proved that she is a complete amateur. Since being kind of elected as party head Livni made almost every wrong political decision. "if no quick coalition, then elections". "only a broad base coalition that will last is acceptable". "a coalition before Rosh Hashana". "14 more days please" Olmert must have been in fits of laughter watching her paint herself into a corner. Shas played with her like a cat plays with a mouse and caused her to waste her time and she didn't see it. Only Barak and Labor sided with her in spite of saying 'only a broad-based long lasting coalition is acceptable". And they (especially Barak) did so because they are terrified of elections. Livni had her chance and blew it. Mike
8. Elections!
Juan ,   Spain   (10.26.08)
... and not a minute too soon. Please vote for someone who will not give away your hard won land.
9. I bet she isnt at peace with past desicions!
Shmendrik ,   Israel   (10.26.08)
10. #1 + #3....She had no choice.
Shmendrik ,   Israel   (10.26.08)
That really doesn't make it such a brave decision now.........does it? If she was brave, she would of brought down Olmert ages ago. This woman is just another Olmert in a dress. I hope we never see her or any other disgusting Kadima member in the Knesset again !
