1. I hope she wins the lawsuit
jason white ,   afula,israel   (10.28.08)
No matter what you tell these companies, there is always an idiot or two who will break the rules. The worker should also be sued! The husband should also be suedor arrested for invading her privacy. Except for losing custody of the daughter she is better off without this slime ball husband.
2. Kill all the terro... oh, wait...
Wanda ,   Canada   (10.28.08)
This is so very tragic. Belonging to a secular 'tribe', by choice and by birth, I find this situation near-alien. Does anyone know if these Rabbinical courts offer appeals? This poor woman is receiving the brunt of a tirade of crap that her husband also helped create. Can anyone find the justice in this? Or is NOW the time for you talkback cowboys to apply the rules of cultural relativity?
3. I'D SUE FOR A BILLION SHEKELS AND
Steve ,   Tel Aviv   (10.28.08)
Demand no negotiations over Jerusalem.
4. Naughty Minx
Talula ,   Israel   (10.28.08)
If she wasn't upto no good why was she so angry? Because she knew that consulting with a male friend, and married noch, is not acceptable and shunned on. However, Pelephone should be accountable for their actions, what they did constitutes breach of privacy. But, being Haredi, I'm sure she'll milk it for all it's worth. I think the deformation of character charges will be dropped - no respectable Haredi woman consults a married man about her marital affairs.
5. some does not make sense here
larry ,   chicago   (10.28.08)
Your report states: "The relationship, she stressed, was strictly platonic and amounted to nothing more than phone calls. In the Orthodox community, however, such a relationship is forbidden." since when is a woman's speaking on a phone grounds for divorce in the religious community. Something else must have happened between the lines here that Ynet did not pick up on. This is shoddy reporting at its best.
6. #3 OMG!!! too funny!

8. Roni Lifshitz:Misreporting, Misleading, Wrong Words
Brana Lobel ,   Israel   (10.28.08)
YNET: Reporter and Editors: the words Haredi and Orthodox are not interchangeable in Judaism, especially when it comes to marital questions. Your article therefore does not make sense, especially when it comes to the phrase "Orthodox community". The norms for interacting between genders for people who are married differ markedly depending on what type of "Orthodox" someone is. So you contribute to further slandering this woman (who knows the nature of these calls. Were they recorded?) and misleading those Jews and nonJews who do not understand differences in religious practice. Shame on you. You pay more attention to the differences between car models and money denominations than those of Jewish practice, in the land of Israel no less. If you think this makes you and YNET more cosmopolitan and "with it" you are sadly mistaken.
9. are you imposing that there is nothing as legal settlement
observer   (10.28.08)
and that religious Jews respect the civil law as do secular Jews.
10. haredi woman sues
debbie ,   israel   (10.28.08)
This is about one of the craziest stories I've read lately. It sounds rediculous. I don't believe anyone would give out a list of calls of a customer to anyone other than the customer herself. And he was allowed to take the daughter yet? Over some phone calls to a neighbor? Who would make such a ruling? I'm not totally familiar with this community, but it sounds absurd.
11. #4, Talula,
(10.28.08)
ANY respectable women would NOT consult any married or single man about her martial affairs or the like. When married couples are having difficulty they should turn into the relationship instead of out the relationship. Her husband was right to find out what his wife was up too. The women is suing b/c she got caught.
12. if she wins
goya ,   Israel   (10.28.08)
if she wins the case against Pelephone, will her husband still divorce her?
13. Before saying poor woman
Alon ,   Israel   (10.28.08)
perhaps consider just for a second the possibility of all this being a scam with the husband in on it?! Nevertheless, if the company did not include in their contract a top amount that can be collected for damages of contract breach, then they kind of deserve to be sued.
14. Don't try the victim, look at the issue
Arielush ,   Rmat Ha Golan   (10.28.08)
As I see it the woman's guilt or innocence is irrelevant. The issue is the violated contract. Pelephone and the woman had an agreement. Pelephone violated the agreement causing extreme personal damage to the woman's life. Therefore Pelephone should pay for damages.
15. #11 And, so what's your point...make it brief.
Talula ,   Israel   (10.28.08)
16. #12
Talula ,   Israel   (10.28.08)
Of course he won't divorce her. She'll be worth a few shekels. She'd better make sure she has a good lawyer - or half the Haredi community will lay claim to her new found wealth.
17. She deserves more money!

19. Reason # 1200 why YNET contines to be a schmatta
Al   (10.28.08)
Ynet cant seem to stop waging a kulturkamf against religious Jews. Grow up already,,You cant be taken seriously. You wont post this as it clearly states the obvious poor quality of YNETS reputation.
20. #11 - No!
Chaya ,   Bat Yam   (10.28.08)
Her husband did not have the right to do what he did and Pelephone broke their contract with her!! I hope she wins the suit and finds herself a good lawyer to get her daughter back!
21. Hi Talula, this is from #11,
(10.28.08)
You mentioned in your talkback about me that you wanted my point to be brief so here goes..... Your #4 talkback no respectable Haredi woman consults a married man about her marital affairs. This is so true and I agree w/ you very much. I got kinda peeved b/c you only wrote haredi women when in fact the rule applies to all married women. I enjoy your talkbacks very much. I've had similar circumstances happen to me so this story hit home for me.
22. why do we care if she's having an affair or not?
sara ,   israel   (10.28.08)
the woman's private life is not really interesting , but the fact that pelephone gives out private client information is, and she should get every penny she asks for.
23. Consulting !
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (10.28.08)
With a FRIEND , a neighboor . What's the problem here ? It was maybe a family friend with whom she talked about her problems ? by phone , is this forbidden too ? He probably , as a neighboor knew the husband too . Maybe he could help them reconciliate . Pelephone had'nt to give anything . A question . Married two years , a daughter of .....two years ?
24. #21 - I disagree with you darling
Talula ,   Israel   (10.28.08)
Secular women have male friends that they talk to - it's not forbidden, it won't get their kids taken away from her and it's not going to get a secular woman thrown out of the community and rejected by all. Haredi women on the other hand ARE different. It's forbidden for them to look at a man, let alone talk to one (and a married one as well!) about her marriage. I'm sorry that you had a rough time. I hope you are past it now.
25. I do not know if her story holds water or not.
Bartley Kulp ,   Safed, Israel   (10.28.08)
The beit din would not act that quickly. Also none of the details of the proceedings were made disclosed such as the man that she was talking to. Was he summoned? Well, if Pelephone was in breach of the law, they deserve to get sued. As to how she was actually damaged and what really ensued with the beit din. The details of the divorce case etc.. It would be nice if ynet would do a follow up on the law suite. It will be interesting to see how the story unfolds in a secular civil court. She will have to prove what really happened in the beit din and why they really got a divorce. Also it will be very informative to the readership if she settles out of court.
26. where's my restitution??
Dennis ,   usa   (10.28.08)
For being traumatized by all the dysfunctional people that damaged my life? OH, I don't recall being offered a bowl of cherries in life so maybe I'll suck it up and get tough a bit like most others do.. And I'll take ownership of what I do too seeing nobody else will.
27. A community that treated her this way....
Andy ,   ramat hasharon   (10.28.08)
isn't worth remaining in -- not to mention the retarded so-called "rabbis" who took her child away from her. This is another example of why the "religious" courts need to be stripped of their family law jurisdiction in this country once and for all. I'm sure I'll get called a haredi basher, but behavior like this by the subculture of religious extremists (by far a minority in the community of Jews who are observant) is what bashes that community, not my talkbacks. The brutal rulings that treat women like garbage in matters of finance and divorce - forcing them to stay in horrible marriages. The violent street protests - arson and malicious destruction of property for stores that have the temerity to sell iPods or offer internet access. The attacks on women for the way they dress. "Rabbis" testifying on behalf of baby murderers. Its a very sick sub culture cloaked in the mantel of "Torah" judaism. Nothing in the Torah sanctions this kind of mass mental illness. And we need to do away with it in our public life.
28. The magic cell phone that...

Pays you back shekels instead of putting them into one "if you know how to use it" correctly & skillfully enough. Have a nice day :)
