31. #23 Stop writing crap Charlie.
Talula ,   Israel   (10.28.08)
32. Re;#22 - Her private life is relevant to the lawsuite.
Bartley Kulp ,   Safed, Israel   (10.28.08)
She is suing Pelephone for defamation of character among other things. Therefore she will have to clarify before the civil court as to the nature of the relationship that she had with the gentleman that she was phoning. There are other details as well that are to lengthy to discuss. Much of it has to do with how and why the beit din determined her to be a rebellious wife. As far as the breach of confidentiality clause none of these things matter.
33. Haredi women can't talk to men?!?
Jacob Blues ,   New York City   (10.28.08)
Since when? Plenty of Haredi Jews in NYC, they run stores, take care of the children, ie, taking them to physicians, etc. And they're not supposed to talk to anyone? RUBBISH! The idea that a phone conversation could bring out a divorce, and banishment her children is not a marraige, its slavery, plain and simple.
34. THIS IS WHY WOMAN MUST WALK *10 STEPS BEHIND A MAN..OK 5
..............DACON9   (10.28.08)
OK I AM JOKING WOMAN SHOULD WALK MAYBE 3 STEPS BEHIND US MEN BUT LISTEN UP... THE MAN SHE CALLED... remember that part? She claims all she knows are charedi lets just say torah observant people...for the sake of this argument AND THAT IS FORBIDDEN for him to speak to her as well SO I DONT BUY THIS STORY the story may be part true but its incomplete so far all parties are wrong 1) husband for spying 2) wife for calling 3) man for accepting andconversing with a married woman 4) phone company for devulging private info if the account is *listed under HER NAME . 5) BET DIN FOR NOT CONSULTING WITH ME OK NOW THATS SETTLED..LET ME GO BACK TO MY LARGE FONTS AND LOOK OUT THE WINDOW TO SEE IF MASHIACH HAS ARRIVED.... I HEAR HORNS..SIRENS... NOPE ITS NOT MASHIACH.. ITS SOME POLITICIAN THAT DOESNT WANT TO WAIT AT THE RED LIGHT...
35. My life is an open book for my husband. He is welcome to
Rivkah   (10.28.08)
listen to my phone conversations or to go to my email account with my password or to read letters I send that copies of are put into notebooks for him to look at any time he wants to. I also have the password for his email account. My husband is welcome to get a list of phone calls and phone numbers I call or who call me. I even have a notebook of purchases with phone numbers and addresses and items purchased and what card was used and the date. He is welcome to spend all day looking through my communications at all levels. This Haredi husband sounds very cruel. Why not ask for an explanation? Obviously, his wife did not want a divorce and did not want to leave the Orthodox community; so it is unlikely she did anything wrong.
36. Talula what crap ?
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (10.28.08)
I'm at least consequent . Not adoring halacha in one point , and not at all the others .
37. Double standards, as usual.
s ,   Tel Aviv   (10.28.08)
I have seen quoted along the line "ANY respectable women would NOT consult any married or single man about her martial affairs or the like". So, of course that is not acceptable. How about her husband: 1. Lying 2. Putting an impostor on the phone to trap his wife? That is tolerated and blessed by the Jewish law? How come nobody is stunned by the double standard?
38. SUE
shadoil ,   Jerusalem   (10.28.08)
THEIR ASSES INTO THE GROUND!
39. What's new?
Alex ,   San Diego, CA   (10.28.08)
When I lived in Israel, Bank Leumi gave details of my account to a relative without asking me first. I could of sued the bank! So unprofessional
40. rebeccaca , this abusing husband ?
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (10.28.08)
Of course , you HAVE to let him do this , otherwise .......
41. Violations
Mkarpas ,   New York City   (10.28.08)
The holy haredi husband probably violated the Cherem Drabainu Gershom by reading the logs of his wife's calls.
42. #34 - Dacon that was funny...
Andy ,   ramat hasharon   (10.28.08)
I needed a laugh today. Thanks.
43. Ynet, how pathetic.
dirty shirt ,   usa   (10.29.08)
In an attempt to create an illusion of balanced reporting, Ynet includes a comment from Pelephone about the law suit not having reached them yet. However, it is quite apparent that the real purpose here is to show how "extreme" and "radical" the haredi "mullahs" are. In truth, Ynet, by only telling us the womans side of the story, is the one pursuing an extremist agenda. An agenda of such extreme hatred that they are willing to fabricate facts. CASE IN POINT: "Furthermore, the judges warned her that she may also be deemed a "rebellious wife," which would strip her of her rights to any COMMUNAL PROPERTY and may prevent her from ever marrying within the Orthodox community again." "Communal property." HUH! What are you talking about? Does this woman live on an ultra orthodox kibbutz? What rights does your average religious jew have in communal properties. Please specify in tomorrows poorly researched, religion bashing article.
44. my 2 cents
nr ,   los angeles, usa   (10.29.08)
From this article, we don't know enough to condemn the husband, the wife, the Bais Din or even the phone company. There's defintely something more to this story. Patience - it will all come out soon enough.
45. 40 Charles: I try to get my husband interested in ANYTHING I
Rivkah   (10.29.08)
say or do, but he has not interest except in going to work and reading science fiction books and watching TV programs like the Discovery Channel and SCI FI movies and the military channel. He says I am to negative for him to listen to, so we are two solitudes in a house. He is welcome to read whatever I write or listen to whatever I say, but he takes little interest. We just have different interests. That is neither good nor bad. It is simply what is.
46. 39 Alex: In Tucson, I went to a food store in 2000 and
Rivkah   (10.29.08)
handed the VISA card to the clerk. He read CAL on the back for California Visa next to my signature. The clerk thought it meant to call the bank on purchases. He keyed into my BANK account to see what was in my checking account without my permission. I looked at the screen he brought up, like a bank teller, but without my putting in an ATM card and PIN number. It was shocking.
47. Reading Ynet Is Like Reading...
Ginette ,   Toronto, Canada   (10.29.08)
...The National Enquirer. For you out-there not familiar with The N.E., well, it's a trashy publication, good to read only as an escape from the real World, a bit like soap operas, no valid truth, no substance to it but sometimes entertaining. Andy in ramat hasharon: So far, you have analyzed this messy situation the best. Talula, I very much enjoy your talkbacks too; you're a riot! And Charles baby, maybe this poor innocent daughter was born very, very premature, ha, ha, ha! The writer states: "The Rabbinical Court did not award her any property; her ex-husband has taken all of what used to be their mutual belongings, he does not pay her alimony..." LEECHES, LEECHES, AND MORE LEECHES! These people instill terror; they could almost be labeled as such. Of course, that won't reach the print, I know.
48. #45
Talula ,   Israel   (10.29.08)
I suggest you get yourself down to Agent Provocateur and kit yourself out with something to make him pay attention!!! What a boring life you live Rivkah. No wonder your TBs are pages and pages long - you have no-one else to let it all out to. I felt momentarily bad for you.
49. talkbacks
Rina   (10.29.08)
The article said the husband has no contact with the daughter (see paragraph above JDate ad), so why are the talkbacks saying he got custody?
50. Confidentiality
Marilyn ,   USA   (10.29.08)
I know about this kind of thing. A doctor I had recently seen only once, was not so diligent with my medical records, and I'm not sure how many people ended up seeing them. Someone saw it and called me about it today. It's the kind of thing that I think should be private, however there's just not that much safeguards about such and what do you say afterwards if it's not against the law and someone doesn't seem to care?
51. #44 yes there is more, or will be, we hope
hopeful ,   TA   (10.29.08)
She'll get millions more, hopefully. The correct version was originally printed in hebrew ynet. English ynet got it wrong but has since corrected it. They are divorced and he wants nothing to do with the child, pays no child support. A creep yes, but that doesn't make ALL chareidim creeps, EXCEPT OF COURSE to ynet hebrew and english talkbackers. This lawyer of hers is known to go all out for his clients, free of charge , but he aims to reap the benefit at pay back time. Good for him, great "Guy" as his name implies. Good luck to him and 'Noa',which is the (not real) name given to this lady in hebrew ynet.
52. to #32
sara ,   israel   (10.29.08)
"CLAIMING BREACH OF CONTRACT which led to the "destruction of her home life." " ( first paragraph in this article.) if she is suing pelephone for breach of contract (which is what she should be doing) her personal life has nothing to do with it. and btw i think it's disgusting how people here always talk against the haredim, do you people not understand that there are nuts EVERYWHERE, haredim, hilonim, mizrachnikim, just because this lady's husband is a jealous freak who doesn't let her talk to anyone doesn't mean all haredi men are. there are plenty of hiloni men who are freaks too, but ynet doesn't feel like writing about them because it's more fun to bash the haredim.
53. Ginette + Talula : the same nullities
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (10.29.08)
Not a wonder ginette like's Talula , qui se ressemble , s'assemble
54. 46 , and we should believe this ?
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (10.29.08)
NO one can enter my bank account exept clerks at the bank , and myself of course . To enter my account i need , my "users name" , my ID number and a pin code i choose , and have to change every six months . Once , when i made a great purchase , they wanted to know if my account was OK for this , they called the bank , I talked to my clerk , they listened , that's all .
55. 48: I am not bored at all. Watching and reading Sci Fi is
Rivkah   (10.29.08)
not my thing. You do not appreciate the depths of my knowledge, but others do.
56. ATTENTION PEOPLE
carol ,   eilat   (10.29.08)
AMERICANS CAN CLOSE THERE PELEPHONES AND PEOPLE CAN LISTEN TO THERE CONVERSATIONS AT HOME.BE CAREFULL.TODAY EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE
57. Dear Lady
doreen   (10.29.08)
I hope you win the law suit. And after that I hope you will enjoy your life as a free person without the horrible burden of this community from the Middle Ages. Enjoy your life, get out of there, this is your chance!
58. # 52-Sarah
Steve ,   U.S.A   (10.29.08)
There are freaks everywhere, however it's only in the chareidi world (or muslim) where a woman would be considered 'rebelious' for phone conversations and be denied all property in a divorce settlement. This settlement was determined by the 'wise' men of the community who have the community's support. It's not just the husband whose a freak, it's their neighbors, their family, the judges, rabbis...
59. Telephone Logs
mark ,   canada   (10.29.08)
Well, it is truly nice to know that people can still be tricked into giving out information. With all the problems we have been having with some companies we were dealing with in Israel, nothing surprises me. Cable companies, ISP companies, the banks--the list is endless. Once they have you on their lists of monthly payments, they would like to keep you on. They plead-- we didn't get notice, ---we lost it, ---you can't do this, ---you can't do that. Is this a modern country? Then they refuse to deal with the English language, when they deal with people like me. Kind of reminds me of some Europeans that think we all speak their home language over here in North America. Heavens to Betsy, thank heavens that a person can deal with companies here without the personnel making stupid and unreasonable decisions. Well most of the time! For example, Israeli Bank overcharges, etc., then they have to cancel the charges, meanwhile that costs time and money to correct STUPID mistakes. I can see what that woman went through. Only very stupid people give out information, refuse to acknowledge, and in combination with some kind of MEDIEVAL religious rules--- well---. All I can say is, why are people in that kind of group to start with. It must be an adequate lifestyle. That is ghetto life in the extreme!
60. 54: Believe it or not, it happened at a Wild Oats Food Store
Rivkah   (10.30.08)
on Speedway Blvd. in Tucson, Arizona. That chain has since been purchased by Whole Foods Markets. The clerk took my VISA card with CAL written on the back next to my signature for California Visa to the manager's cubicle with me following him. It was a VISA card, NOT an ATM card. He pulled up my bank account checking account balance on the screen without my permission or a PIN. I was horrified and stopped shopping there.
