31. You wrote an opinion article to tell us you have no opinion?
Aharon   (11.08.08)
Ynet, I usually think you publish articles at an acceptable level, but this is just pathetic.
32. #28 Rahm Emanuel a "Marxist Thug"?
American Jew   (11.08.08)
The man's family were in the Etzel - he's named after a slain Etzel fighter, it doesn't get much more Zionist than that.
33. #24 I agree 100%
Connie ,   Virginia   (11.08.08)
I have stated before if I thought Alan Keyes could get the Republican nomination I would have voted for him. He is a very inspirational speaker. Now that a person of color has gotten to the White House, what would be their(the black population)excuse then for not rallying behind him?
34. Even talkback better than this article
JJ   (11.08.08)
It's a terribly written article.
35. What will Obama be able to change?
redmike ,   Tel Aviv   (11.08.08)
There are hopes and intentions and then there are the carved in stone realities that need to be overcome in order to achieve them. Like all politicians and perhaps the ones that reach the highest echelons in particular, Obama most likely hopes to leave a lasting and favorable legacy at the end of his four or eight year tenure. He will inherit amongst other things the worst financial crisis since the thirties, an Iran that is close to being able to create nuclear weapons, wars in Iraq and Iran, dwindling oil supplies, rising unemployment, climate change issues and the probability that Israel will elect a right wing leader in February 2009, and making things even more difficult are the sky high expectations of the American people and much of the world. It is perhaps worth noting that Presidents whose partied controlled both chambers of congress in the second half of the last century had their initiatives passed into law only fifty three percent of the time. http://tiny.cc/obamaexpectations Mike
36. Obama
p e cattar ,   st petersburg usa   (11.08.08)
Good article! What I thinh Uri is saying is nobody really knows what Obama is going to do,not even Obama.Obama is like someone who has watched many games of football, read about it,studied it ,thought about it but never played in the game or as they say in boxing everyone has a plan until they get hit.THe world is not a static environment .The bad news is I do not believe Obama is going to be good at handling a dynamic atmosphere .He is a control freak and thin skinned and the "experts" around him will disagree on major issues.I wish him luck.
37. Michelle
(11.08.08)
I don't know yet how Obama will be for us here in Israel, but one thing I do know is that the dress Michelle wore on election night was really ugly.
38. My opinion
Jew ,   Eretz Yisrael   (11.08.08)
Don't forget that Obama is just as white as he is black. He's half of each!! As for Rahm Emanuel: His father was in Etzel, but Rahm supports a 2 state solution. I don't.
39. This was complete drek
Marc ,   Jerusalem   (11.08.08)
Seriously, was Uri Orbach paid to write this? This is ridiculous
40. Obama the same as Tony Blair
avrom ,   bet shemesh   (11.08.08)
He will put pressure on Israel for a two state solution Obama will abdicate from the US's role[ as world policeman therefore the onus is upon Israel to be thw world's policeman before Obama comes into office and sort out the Iranian nuclear weapons Syria .Hezbolloh and the Palestinians before inauguration
41. Obama like Blair
avrom ,   bet shemesh   (11.08.08)
Blair also had this vision thing promised hope instead of fear ,bring peace leadership etc Blair destroyed Britain i expect Obama to do the same to the US and the world
42. Just not enough
Moshe ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (11.08.08)
articles. They had to come up with a quick agglomerate of words to fill in the gap. There's intelligent cynical wit, and there's this. Can't you tell the stark contrast? Very "Israeli" in style by the way.
43. Buraq Hussein Obama is not as good
Rich ,   New York   (11.09.08)
speaker as Mr. White, not as good Muslim as Farakhan, not as millitant as Ayers, and not as smart as Soros. Just an average member of his "Thug church" in Chicago. No more, nor less.
44. Obama will be good for the US and for Israel....
Andy ,   ramat hasharon   (11.09.08)
Give him some time and he will be a beloved president, there and here.
45. #24 - Keyes is an idiot....
Andy ,   ramat hasharon   (11.09.08)
And Palin is even stupider.
46. 24 Tahl: Keyes was born in America and is not a Muslim or a
Rivkah   (11.09.08)
Communist and there is nothing his handlers could use to blackmail him to control him, unlike Obama. Like Daniel in the Bible said, "God rules in the kingdoms of men and sets up over them, the basest of men." People get the ruler they deserve and America deserves judgment after 50 million plus abortions, three States that allowed homosexual marriages (the cause of Noah's Flood was homosexual marriage according to Jewish scholars). The sins of America have risen as a stench to the Lord who has decreed judgment instead of mercy: the judgment of flood and fire, invasion and pestilence, famine, and captivity and national financial bankruptcy. There is no hope with this charlatan, Obama, as there would have been with a more honest Keyes.
47. # 2 - Please do not patronize us
common israeli ,   tel aviv   (11.09.08)
Furthermore, haven't U got any sense of humour ? Couldn't you sense the cool attitude of the writer ?
48. High demands .....
proportion ,   TEL AVIV   (11.09.08)
Those living abroad apparently enjoy criticizing israeli journalists who "dare" write in English. Am I wrong ???
49. #46 - stil smoking that Christian weed I see?
Andy ,   ramat hasharon   (11.09.08)
Your posts always sound like you're on drugs. Your example of who voted McCain certainly explains the Obama LANDSLIDE. Speaking of which, where's Connie from BLUE STATE VIRGINIA? Mmmwwha-ha-ha!! By the way, honey, in my lifetime permitting gay marraige will be the rule in the states, not the exception. You're talking out of your ASS when you say it was the reason for the flood. It was an evil society that permitted the crime of rape.

52. You are so right
Mandy ,   Colorado, USA   (11.09.08)
I was so impressed that you would ask why Allen was not more widley supported. I too wondered the same thing, except the amount of money Obama spent was unprecidented; and he rec'd that money because he is very liberal-some say the most leberal we've ever had. Allen, was a conservative, and didn't compromise on being a moderate. The American people though need to put much more emphasis on who they're electing in our Congress, rather then on the Presidency. I think our concern is that we have the most liberal Congress majority and President ever elected together making little "checks and balances" of each other as it was intended. Great comment. Mandy
53. I was a McCain/Palin voter
mandy ,   Colorado, USA   (11.09.08)
I read your thoughts with amusement, as idiotic as they were. Gay marriages were among the moral issues of the platform both ran on, but certainly it was not the bigger issue. Socialist ideology versus Capitalists ideology were the issues. The two ways of thinking were represented in how both would handle the current issues we now face. One of the biggest reasons McCain was not elected was merely that the Obama supporters were far more enthusiastic about their candidate than we were of McCain. McCain was not a true conservative and there were many issues we disagreed about, such as his take on illegal immigration. This is a bigger issue because of the drain its putting on individual communities and border states. There were other conservative candidates that would have brought out more of the conservative voters but they didn't make it through our primaries probably due to funding issues.
54. Highly doubt Obama will become "beloved" to us
Mandy ,   Colorado, USA   (11.09.08)
I highly doubt he will be "beloved" as you refer, at least not here in the U.S. In this election, there was little need to watch a debate and I only watched one with the Vice President's candidates between Bidon & Palin. Why? Because McCain & Obama both were current Senators. Looking at their voting records said more than their speeches ever would or any other campaign rhetoric. And with a liberal majority in Congress & in the President's seat Obama will not become "beloved." For example, one issue that has great consequences and a big issue is there are four (?) Supreme Court Justices that will be turning 70 years old during the next Presidency. We have a real issue here of Justices trying to "make" laws rather than allowing Congress a system dictated in our United States Constitution under Separation of Powers. This presents many issues, and none good. "Legislating from the bench" goes to a philosophy that the United States Constitution is an obsolete doctrine. Conservatives hold that the Bench is to "intrepret" an existing law ie. that it's Constitutional for example. They are known as "strict Constitutionalists." Since the Supreme Court is not elected by the people, by "making" laws, you can see there is no accountability on them by voting them out. They serve for life. Obama may and most likely will, nominate candidates that believe our Constitution is out-of-date and have more of a world court view. Since the nominees have to be approved by Congress, this either won't be an issue, since the liberals now have a majority in Congress. The "check and balance" system will not be as effective, if at all implemented. Many of the people that voted for him will be really surprised when their taxes go up but they have no benefit coming to them, as was promised. Taxing the rich, as liberals believe is the solution to all problems economically, will become a problem when the jobs those rich people created are now taxed to the point they can no longer exist and massive lay offs occur. this is already beginning. After all, how many jobs do poor people produce? So, punishing the rich is an moot argument of a "thinking" individual. What has shown to work is lowering the taxes allowing small businesses to grow. As with large corporations, prosperity does trickle down. The current President's tax cuts will expire in the next year or two and it is highly unlikely they will be renewed in the next administration.
55. Obama will be no friend of Israel
John ,   washington dc   (11.10.08)
Good luck guys, you're own your own in the world now....was a good relationship while it lasted...you don't need us anyway. You can still win without USA.

57. Uri r u serious?
Joseph ,   FL   (11.10.08)
Black is bad, young is good, Hussein is bad and good-looking is good? What the hell?
58. #49 Andy
Connie ,   Virginia   (11.10.08)
My RED state is now purple not blue. It is with a bit of embarrassment that my fellow neighbors from the blue state of West Virginia voted more for John McCain. The northern part of this state and the VA. Beach area probably helped Obama to the WH. They are the most populated areas of Virginia. My Senator was reelected to office. He's jewish btw. Also my Democratic Governor will be history next year or the year after. Under our state constitution, the governors' office is only for one term. As for the reason behind the flood. Yeah, it was the evil society that permitted the crime of rape. Men raping other men.
59. #51-And I you!!

60. Uri's a wimp
Mitchell Freedman ,   Poway, CA, USA   (11.10.08)
Find some other columnist, YNet. Uri Orbach is a wimp. Two days after the election and he doesn't know where he stands with regard to Obama? Ridiculous. He is also stupid because all he tells us about Obama is he is black, young and that some people like and some people dislike Obama. He reminds me of a young girl on the American television show from the 1960s, "American Bandstand," who would decide whether she liked a song by saying whether she liked or disliked the "beat." Orbach's column is a waste of electronic and print space.
