1. Residual Oslo Psychosis
Ken Jurist   (11.08.08)
The "land for peace" delusion is an extremely persistent delusion of Oslo Psychosis. The western powers tried "land for peace" when Hitler was offered the Sudetenland. History shows the results of that "land for peace" deal. During the entire Cold War, the U.S. did not offer the Soviet Union land such as Florida, New York or Texas in return for peace. Why not? After 9/11, the U.S. did not offer Bin Laden a state such as California or Illinois in return for peace. Why not? Why do Israeli leaders such as Olmert keep buying into the "land for peace" delusion? Our leadership seems to be the only one in the world that actually believes such delusions. Every other country offers one deal...peace for peace.
2. This is who Rabin wanted to make peace with
David Stoler   (11.08.08)
http://www.meforum.org/article/581 In fact, on the same day Arafat signed the Declaration of Principles on the White House lawn in 1993, he explained his actions on Jordan TV. "Since we cannot defeat Israel in war, we do this in stages. We take any and every territory that we can of Palestine, and establish a sovereignty there, and we use it as a springboard to take more. When the time comes, we can get the Arab nations to join us for the final blow against Israel." http://headlines.agapepress.org/archive/3/142002f.asp The top Al Asqa terrorist, Maslama Thabet has told USA Today, all terrorist attacks against Israeli civilians come from Yasser Arafat. Al-Aqsa terrorist Zakariya Zubeidi did an interview with Haaretz last April and admited Arafat ordered all the attacks against Israeli civilians. http://haaretz.com/hasen/spages/971604.html Look, it's perfectly clear to me that we won't be able to defeat Israel. My aim was for us, by means of the 'resistance' [code for terror attacks], to get a message out to the world. Back in Abu Amar's day [the nom de guerreof Yasser Arafat], we had a plan, there was a strategy, and we would carry his orders." In effect, are you saying what Amos Gilad and intelligence always said, that Arafat planned everything? "Right. Everything that was done in the intifada was done according to Arafat's instructions, but he didn't need to tell us the things explicitly. We understood his message."
3. To the Israeli left who are still blind
Kelly Johnson   (11.08.08)
http://www.nationalreview.com/comment/stalinsky200412070826.asp Some members of the Palestinian establishment close to Arafat are now stating in public that he never really wanted peace, and instead considered the Oslo Accords a strategy to destroy Israel in phases. It was reported on November 21 that Abd Al-Bari Atwan, editor of the London-based newspaper, Al-Quds Al-Arabi , discussed a meeting he held with Arafat shortly before the latter's return to Gaza from Tunis. When Atwan criticized the Oslo Accords, Arafat reassured him: "The day will come when you will see thousands of Jews fleeing Palestine. I will not live to see this, but you will definitely see it in your lifetime. The Oslo Accords will help bring this about." The Palestinian ambassador in Iran, Salah Al-Zawawi, explained in an interview on Iranian Al-Alam TV on November 12: "[Arafat] knew that this path is the path of martyrdom and Jihad. He knew that this great cause requires martyrs, not leaders.... He fought the Jihad and we saw him in many battles...if you ask me what will surely be the end of this Zionist entity, I will say to you that this entity will disappear one of these days...It's a matter of time....
4. Backbone?
Frank ,   Canada   (11.08.08)
So according to this loony, Leftist losers willing to surrender to Arab terror and living in a delusional world are a backbone? Peres has the backbone of Chamberlain and is as inspirational as a poodle. The Left has no inspiration and no project apart from living in a fantasy world. This year change has to be more than a slogan: fanatic and idiotic Leftists must sod off.
5. talk about incitement!

6. It's good Israel's survival is not dependent on defeatists.
redmike ,   tel aviv   (11.08.08)
Rabin probably did more harm than any other PM to Israel! Of course there are Arabs and of course many got displaced but Rabin got conned by Arafat into saying that there is a Palestinian people. There is no connection between the Arabs in Gaza and those in the West Bank and they hate each other. The idea never came up until after the '67 war when Arabs woke up and said "who are we?" because Gaza and the West Bank had been conquered. There never was a Palestinian people and if there ever is then it will be an "invented people" - thanks to Rabin and Arafat. Mike
7. Barak and extremsim
eliezer ,   jerusalem   (11.08.08)
It is people like Barak who wish to paint their opponents as extremists. It is Barak and his cronies who have ruined the country with their crummy peace process, who have uprooted numbers of families, who have provided NO PEACE, whose words are as worthless as their deeds. It is people like Barak who should be put behind bars for incitement, and it is a chutzpah for a newspaper to even report on such a despicable person.
8. we will remove this evil from us,” said Barak
Yisraeli   (11.08.08)
Every year Im so disgusted with what they do at this pagan ceremony. Why not erect a Church in every suburb dedicated to the Holy Saint? Call it the Church of Rabin where you can spew hate rhetoric against fellow brother Jews who are loyal and faithful to their 3000+ years of history and legacy. we will remove this evil from us,” said Barak, How low can one get? Who are the real inciters to violence? Who are the real evil ones? that carry out pogroms against their own in the middle of the night like cowards? If this is moreshet Rabin then I feel sorry for his soul. Even those supporting his memorial should be disgusted how they use this as a rally of hate of fellow jews. and Ynet please dont censor this, you may not like it and it may hurt you as it does me nevertheless it is the undeniable truth.
9. To #1
Ed ,   Tel aviv   (11.08.08)
Umm.. The soviet union did not ever have any land disputes with the United States inside U.S or Russian Soil. Osama bin Laden never had any land disputes wit the United States. The Palestinians Do have a land dispute with Us. So don't compare apples with pears because you just can't
10. To #6
Ed ,   Tel Aviv   (11.08.08)
So what people were those living in Israel before 1948 apart from the Jews and christians? the fact that they weren't named palestinians does not mean they were not a people living in this land.
11. jewish 'extemists' in israel
elliot ,   usa   (11.08.08)
barak does not mind the arabs in israel voting as the blacks have done in america...this he calls 'democracy'!no wonder the jews are 'extremely' worried!why not put arabs at the top of labor's lst to be even more 'democratic' and to achieve peace like in lebanon?
12. sickness
colin   (11.08.08)
Barak is one of the cancers suffered by Israel It must be cut out and burnt. His cowardly actions and weak leadership has turned the IDF into a laugh used to evict jewish children in the night .He ran away from lebenon in the night.may the gods smile when this growth is finally eradicated.
13. remembering rabin
jm ,   älta, sweden   (11.08.08)
just one lousy thought, but haven''t you noticed, that a lot of the most prominent defenders of the state of israel, generals of the wars won over arabs, somehow seem to disintergate when the job is done and the tensions diminish. sharon, rabin, peres, are there more ? group dynamics, the utter threat of existential danger. and then, yes, what ? methinks, it's a kind of process of self-annihilation in contrast with what they must have experienced during the hardships in the claws of war and terror. and so, when they decide to take part of the civilian society, as politicians e.g., they manage to transfer their own depressions, their own fundamental experiences to the society in a very peculiar, coherent way of trying to absolve their deeds, fears, in the context of dynamics they do not have a clue of. that of the difference between the war and the politicized , civilian society. clearly barak himself, with his especially harsh condemnations projected towards his own people, can't anymore differentiate between the enemy and the homefront.
14. #9, WRONG!!!!!
Yonatan ,   Nahariya   (11.08.08)
The Soviet Union had a huge land dispute with the US and most of Europe, they took eastern Europe after the war and that was the dispute. Osama binLanden had a dispute with the USA because the US had military bases in Saudi Arabia. Of course I am not a revisionist Israeli thinker like you Ed so I go by real history and circumstances. Yes the arabs who deny Israel's right to exist have a land problem with Israel Ed, I hate to break that news to you. The PLO charter, the Hamas charter and the Fatah charter all specify a totally arab state where Israel now resides. If I were you Ed I would not pursue a career choice as a teacher, young minds have enough problems discerning what real facts are.
15. Islamic terrorists -peace partners
Marcel ,   Florida   (11.09.08)
Barak and co. release Palestinain killers with blood on their hands and has found a new Jewish enemy to fill the prisons with. The enemy has been redefined by the extremist Israeli left failed losers who rule Israel to ruin. Barak ,you are disgusting and vile and arrogant ,you should leave.

18. egotistical left wing politicians are the cancer
zionist forever   (11.08.08)
Make secret deals with terrorists. Release terrorists as goodwill gestures including men who kill children by smashing their heads against rocks. Give away territory including doing deals to divide the capital and give away the Golan despite the fact the majority of the public are against such a plan. The ones Barak considers a cancer though are jews who are against the left wing policy of selling the country to terrorists for political legacies. The real cancer in Israel are the left wing politicians who are not worried about security or Israels best interests just how history is going to remeber them ... they want to hear people outside Israel call them visionry, brave and great men maybe even pick up a nobel prize along the way if they are lucky. Barak, Livni, Olmert and Peres non of them belong in Israel because they are more concerened about the opinions of foreigners than Israelis. They are the real cancerous growths.
19. Threat to Israel begins with the Knesset
JPS ,   Efrat   (11.08.08)
There is no bigger threat to Israel than the disfunctional Knesset, that has the support of a frightening 15% of the country. When you look at the statistics for how much faith the electorate has in our national parliament, you realize that these guys are blowing hot air right in our faces. The threat to democracy is the weakness of its institutions, and the Knesset members are there undermining them all the time: -no constitution and consequently almost no civil rights -no accountability. despite years of attempts to reform the Knesset and get direct elections of MKs, they refuse, so that they can keep their snouts in the trough. -no stability. There hasn't been a full term Knesset in years. I don't necessarily want a USA style system, but we need to reform so that a majority government is a possibility, and that ALL members have to fight for re-election and not be in "protected" positions on a party list. There are indeed some whacko extremists who have to be taken care of, but that's for the law to do. And if anybody is arrested, yes, they immediately should have access to a lawyer and the material against them cannot always be "state secret" and withheld from defense attorneys.
20. Internal strife...
shalom ,   Fort Lee   (11.09.08)
Sure, there is internal strife in Israel, but who's responsible for it? Those who are fingerpointing - the LEFT! People who don't respect anything, be it religion, patriotism, etc. People whose ambition is giving away judaism most sacred sites, including Jerusalem. Shame on you all!!!!
21. Settlers preventing Jewish traitors from giving away Israel.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (11.09.08)
22. He's right. Left-wing extremists are killing Israel.
AniAshkeloni ,   Ashkelon   (11.09.08)
Barak is right...Israel is being killed by left-wing extremism that wants to destroy Israel by giving away our land piece by piece. Islamic terrorists want Gaza so they can build and army and put missiles there. Lefties give them Gaza. Islamic terrorists want southern Lebanon so they can build an army and put missiles there. Lefties give them southern Lebanon. Give them the West Bank and E. Jerusalem so they can put armies and missiles there also? Why do Left-wing extremists hate Israel so much that they want us destroyed? And these lefties claim to be Jews.
23. You proved #1's point. Thank you. He is right.
AniAshkeloni ,   Ashkelon   (11.09.08)
No disputes? Russia's antics in Cuba, Nicaragua, Viet Nam, Korea,Guatemala, Grenada, San Salvador, Dominican Republic, etc. were nothing but stepping stones to U.S. territory. At no time did the U.S. offer any of these "lands for peace" to the Soviets. The U.S. used its full resources including its armed forces, CIA, NSA, UN allies, and anything else it could do including the threat of nuclear war to block Soviet incursions. The one thing it did not do---offer the Soviets "land for peace" anywhere in the world. Their only offer- peace for peace (or war for war).
24. Democracy and the left : Who are the real anti-democracy?
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (11.09.08)
From the perspective of the left and the media, settlers have become the ultimate Other, mainly because of the ideological threat that they, religious Zionists and anyone who identifies with them poses to those who pride themselves on an absence of ideology. The settlers - in the path they have chosen, in their faith and even in their appearance – represent the exact opposite: values, traditions, solidarity and, yes, hope for the future of the Jewish people. That is their sin, and that is their reward. As to justice and Arabs : http://xrl.us/otaij
25. Real extremists
Frank ,   Canada   (11.09.08)
There is a large bunch of extremists in Israel: all these Leftist fanatics who kill people in the name of peace.
26. Barak is wrong
Brod ,   USA   (11.09.08)
The nation has turned to the right because the Rightists are dependable defenders of the Land of Israel. They know the GOD of Israel and are the true Jews in Israel.
27. Israeli Leaders Ignore the REAL Extremists
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (11.09.08)
JIHAD IN ISRAEL, NETHERLANDS & EUROPE IGNORED We are massively betrayed by our leaders - America, Canada and Australia are next. Text of Geert Wilders’ Speech to Parliament by Baron Bodissey Yesterday I posted about Dutch state television pulling the plug on Geert Wilders during live coverage of his speech to Parliament on Wednesday. Speech by Geert Wilders during the Parliamentary session Translated by VH 17 September 2008 ...an average non-western immigrant family will cost Dutch taxpayers 230,000 euros. That is more than one hundred billion euros in total...we follow the leftist dream to bring half the Islamic world into the Netherlands...Nearly one third of all crime is committed by non-Western immigrants. When it comes to robbery with violence our non-western immigrants are scoring even more than sixty percent. Madam President, we are losing our country. We are losing our Netherlands. We are losing it to mass immigration...We are losing it to a culture of backwardness and violence. We are losing it to the Moroccan thugs who go though life scoffing and spitting and beating up innocent people. They make the schoolyards and streets unsafe. They stick up their middle finger to funeral processions, threaten and abuse ambulance staff and beat up gay people and hiss ‘whore’ to women. They happily accept our benefits, our homes, our doctors. But not our standards and values. ...believers in Gouda at the end of the church service are spit on and besieged by Moroccans. Gouda is Islamizing rapidly. Crime is exploding, the atmosphere is getting more grim. Moroccans appear five times as often in police statistics as native Dutch do. A Moroccan told a journalist, I quote: “Within ten years we are the boss here. And then we immediately throw that **** Queen of yours out.” Bus drivers are spit on, threatened and robbed. A bus driver from Gouda wrote me last week: “Mr. Wilders, Moroccans terrorize us. Yesterday, in his first run, a colleague was robbed by a Moroccan with a knife put on his throat while this Moroccan’s friends were sitting outside in a car waiting. They left as cheerfully as if they had been to the cash dispenser of a bank.” Why is no action taken against this? Where are the police?..Why all these cowardly administrators looking the other way? Why do they let the Dutch down? Because it’s not only in Gouda and Amsterdam; in the entire Netherlands street terrorism is increasing. It has been a long time since there were no incidents. It is an Islamic intifada... The police of Gouda are no longer able to deal with the street terrorists. The colonizers just torch the police cars. Police Officers are told: “we know where your children’s school is”. Madam President, it is now no longer possible that we enable the deployment more than a thousand soldiers to Afghanistan to make it a safer place while the Netherlands itself becomes increasingly insecure. Therefore, bring the soldiers back to the Netherlands and let our boys sweep the area clean here. The safety of the Dutch citizen is priority number one. Oosterwei, Gouda, our cities and our villages are more important than Uruzgan. http://gatesofvienna.blogspot.com/2008/09/text-of-geert-wilders-speech-to.html
28. Does that include leftist extremists?
Mike ,   Jerusalem   (11.09.08)
Like those who legitimize arabs murdering settlers or organizations that masquerade as sellers and film themselves posing as settlers cutting down olive trees and beating arabs?
29. 19
zionist forever   (11.09.08)
What Israel needs a system similar to the British Parliament. There are 3 parties so its not one or the other as in the US and its not mainly single issue parties that exist only to join coalitions for a price like $ha$ and splitting the vote. Israel needs 3-4 parties maximum and any potential party must have a mandate for running the entire country not simply be there for more welfare money or money to build new yeshivot. All MKS must be directly elected from regions, the country is divided up into regions and each region will elect directly a certain number of MKS. The MKS would hold regular consultations with their constituants who can tell them their problems and make sure the MK knows they want representation if that MKS wants to stay an MK at the next election. A second chamber that reviews and amends any potential laws the Knesset wants to pass A directly elected PM and there must be through a national election if the existing one is forced to resign for some reason no inheriting of the crown. An end to coalition government, its undemocratic, breeds coruption and is the only way to get rid of single issue politics. The president should also be a position chosen through a direct election and not apointed by the Knesset. There needs to be an independently drafted constiution, nobody who has served in the Knesset for a minimum number years or is a current member of a political party can be involved in its drafting and ideas will be submited by the public on the things that will be included. We also need to have referendums for issues that are to important to be decided by politicians such as the future of the Golan and Jerusalem We also need a jury based legal system not the European system where a panel of judges act as judge, jury and execurtioner. Maybe if we had a jury system the courts might hand out proper punishments right now they are pathetic and they never hand out maximum penalities. Execution is legal for certain crimes but in 60 years the only individal ever executed was Eichaman. Israel has one of the worst systems in the world and for a country going on 61 its time to mature, this is no longer the Marxist Leninist country that the early zionists were building, today Israel is a modern country wanting to be part of the western world so it needs a western style political system not a circus that borders on democracy & apointed dictaitorship. The only way we are going to get this is if the public make themselves heard because the current bunch love the current system, it gives them more power than they should have and where the government can do just about anything it likes so unless they are forced to change throgh public demand they wont change a thing.
30. Barak and extremists
DT ,   TA Isr   (11.09.08)
You can restrain a fanatic but a "corpse" like you Mr Barak does nothing. You allow the people in Ashkelon and Sderot to be blasted . You are a disgrace to yourself and the nation and were never fit to lead-anyhwere.
