When he described to all the arab media how it was the first step in the dismantling of the State of Israel.
2. Reduction
Laurence ,   Tustin, CA USA   (11.10.08)
What will you offer to the arabs once there is no more land to give? Free labor? First born? Israel should value its continued existence (problematic as it may be) higher than temporary peace with its hostile neighbors.
3. Oslo and olmert, both failures.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (11.10.08)
4. Rabin was against a Palestinian State
Besalel ,   Kew Gardens, NY   (11.10.08)
In a speech he gave a mere month before his death, Rabin, describing the Palestinian entity to be established said: "We would like this to be an entity which is less than a state, and which will independently run the lives of the Palestinians under its authority." Olmert is for a Palestinian state. Rabin, stated that Israel will keep Joseph's tomb and all the Jewish holy sites. He said: "We have found a solution to the matter of Joseph's Tomb in Nablus. As is known, the students of the yeshiva and their teachers at Joseph's Tomb are there only during the day, and do not remain there at night. The current agreement will enable students to travel daily to the Tomb. The inside of the Tomb will be guarded by armed Israelis." Barak gave Joseph's tomb away for free! Rabin wanted a united Jerusalem. He said, "We will not return to the 4 June 1967 lines. And these are the main changes, not all of them, which we envision and want in the permanent solution. A. First and foremost, united Jerusalem." Olmert wants to go back to the '67 borders and divide Jerusalem. Rabin wanted to keep GUSH KATIF! We all know what Sharon did. So who is keeping Rabin's legacy? Certainly not the far left called Barak, Olmert and Livni! Here is the entire speech: http://www.mfa.gov.il/MFA/MFAArchive/1990_1999/1995/10/PM%20Rabin%20in%20Knesset-%20Ratification%20of%20Interim%20Agree
5. Olmert is trying to defend the indefensible
Yoni ,   Chiloquin   (11.10.08)
Oslo by Israeli popular opinion is the worst thing to ever happen to Israel. Despite people like the thief Olmert and Saint Shimon of Oslo, Jewish citizens understand that the answer is not giving land to the murdering arab hordes. Who cares if the dictator ruled arab countries around Israel don't like us, the fact is they have never liked Jews. It is insane to consider giving up a single millimeter of land again, therefore I say that the thief Olmert is insane and should be removed from any political position forever. With the exception of heading the prisoners union at the prison he should be incarcerated in.

JAyjay ,   Israel   (11.10.08)
8. Good riddance
Nachman ,   Maale Adumim Israel   (11.10.08)
I was absolutely sickened reading what the disgraced Olmert had to say. The folly of Oslo with over 1000 Jews brutally murdered and the expulsion of the Jews from Gush Katif is still fresh in our minds as rockets continue to rain down on Sederot and Ashkelon and Gilad Schallit (may he be saved and returned home safe and well speedily) remains who knows where and this pathetic excuse for a Prime Minister wants to repeat the mistake for what? Peace in our time - he will not be missed.
9. any government will have to tell the truth
truth seeker   (11.10.08)
so says olmert. so when will your government start to tell the truth mr.olmert? the truth i find in the tanakh is that this land belongs to G-D (leviticus 25:23)and He just allows us to be tenants on it. how can your government legally give away land that does not belong to you; to strangers that G-D does not want living with us?(numbers33:55)
10. this article is slander and ynet should be sued
david ,   new york   (11.10.08)
ynet says that "netanyahu participated in rallies ... rife with incitement" that statement is slander and ynet should be sued. "incitement" does not mean saying something or someone is bad. it means that someone is calling for violence against someone. calling rabin a traitor is not incitement. telling people to kill him would be. please tell me when precisely did netanyahu ask people to kill rabin?? that would be illegal. as for calling rabin a traitor: that is everyone's god given right to say and even olmert can't take away rights given by god.
11. Likud has lost its way; abandoning core principles
Steve ,   US   (11.10.08)
Today we read, Netanyahu has rejected a bid by Knesset Member Effie Eitam to join Likud. Netanyahu now says he will continue land for peace talks with Israel's enemies if elected prime minister. There are stronger, more principled men out there. Instead Likud elected a weak man like Netanyahu. Netanyahu appears less and less principled as time goes by. Netanyahu condemns rabbis for counseling young soldiers to not obey immoral orders to expel Jewish families from their homes. Apparently Netanyahu has learned nothing from the Nuremberg trials in Germany: "I was only following orders," was the constant refrain. Netanyahu remained in Ariel Sharon's cabinet to the very last minute, supporting legislation that enabled disengagement. Likud remained in Sharon's coalition. Netanyahu gave-in to Clinton pressure at Wye River, thereby ceding parts of Hebron. Netanyahu will be a huge disappointment as prime minister, it seems to me. Why should we expect anything other than betrayal from Mr. Netanyhu?
12. Israel cannot negotiate with terrorists

13. #11 who then?
ben Ish   (11.10.08)
Who is strong and principled, that will stand for Israel? No more land, not one square inch. No more waiting for Gilad, not one day. No more appeasements, not for anyone. No more "gestures". No more self-sacrifice and national suicide. No more dreaming that there will EVER be any agreement acceptable to our enemies. Everything has been tried, and the only result has been more death and destruction to Israel. Who will stop this dreaming and do as a strong leader would?

15. The crook is the Leader of the Left
Rich ,   New York.   (11.10.08)
I am glad that the worsed crook in Israel politics is on the left. I would had felt very bad if the leader of Israeli Mafia, don't know the name of the guy, would had said that he loves Likud and loves Bibi. As to Bibi, he wouldn't be a PM . No chance. People wouldn't vote for him if they can spend the day on the beach. At least, they can get some money or jobs from Livni.
16. olmert in your face
marcel   (11.10.08)
look ,its not leftists or rightists as each camp exhorts. One camp tried Oslo(forget about the coward olmert who talks only to avoid jail). A lot of israelis have the feeling that more of this will come to no good, similar to undertaking an operation when one doesn't have a good feeling about the surgeon. Its not a question of politics. Its a matter of survival(OLMERT again has no role here as both his sons and he are IDF evaders or haters-Ehud avoided army service by some injury). And one doesn't run around hysterically about pleasing the US or giving into hysterical demographic arguments. Israel has tried oslo and it has failed period, no qeustion about it because of the arabs, less to do with the jews.Of course, this quisling olmert would give the whole of israel to abbas so he could save his own hide. Beleive me the jew are not the chosen people when they could place a moron like olmert PM.
17. #13: Good question.
Steve ,   US   (11.10.08)
All I know is what I have learned from experience. George W. Bush announced his vision for a Muslim terror state in Israel, early October 2001. I could not bring myself to vote for Bush in 2004 because of this. I am a life-long Republican. I could not vote to re-elect Mr. Bush. Sharon said a Palestinian state is inevitable in 2002. I would not have voted to re-elect Ariel Sharon in 2003. There was Michael Kleiner to vote for or some other small, principled party. The right in Israel voted to re-elect Ariel Sharon and we got disengagement; the uprooting of thousands peaceful Jews from Gush Katif. Sharon vowed he would make painful concessions and he did. Now we have Netanyahu vowing to negotiate with our enemies. Who will stop this dreaming? A man who has principles and vision. A man who fears his Maker. Unless Netanyahu makes a firm pledge there will be "no" territorial compromise, I would vote for any small, principled party before I would vote for Likud this February. Netanyahu needs to be clear, as you wrote: "No more land, not one square inch!" Otherwise, why should the Jews vote for him? Is he any better than Olmert, Livni or Sharon?

23. Correction #10
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (11.11.08)
Amnon Meranda is correct in saying that Netanyahu took part in a demonstration where incitement took place against Rabin. At that protest, SHBK agent Champain was photographed carrying inciteful and hateful propaganda against Rabin. Apparently he was "only following orders" because after Rabin's murder Champain retired with a state pension.
24. Olmert, why not implement yesterday what you say today
Beate Zilversmidt ,   Holon, Israel   (11.11.08)
25. We can see now how dangerous Olmert really was
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (11.11.08)
What Olmert did is something that is simply not done. It was a Rosh Hashana present to all of our enemies and a slap in the face to our friends. He made it look like everything was all our fault and that if we would only give everything up, we would have peace. He even suggested that he could achieve peace if only he wasn't being forced out of office by inconsequential allegations of corruption... We can see now how dangerous as prime minister Olmert really was. As to legitimacy and rights at : http://xrl.us/osyi8

28. Olmert is the one living in a fantasy world....
Matt C ,   Canada   (11.11.08)
The only way Israel can know peace with the Muslim world is from a strong position. If Muslims become strong in the world then they will have no motivation to want peace with a Jewish state, although they may accept false a peace deal, a "hudna", if Israel is left in a weaker position afterward. The Koran is very clear that land that has once belonged to Muslims must always be theirs, which is why Spain is still regarded as rightfully part of the Muslim world in mainstream thought centuries after the Muslim occupation there ended. Furthermore, the Koran is very clear that Jews are to be killed unless they accept "dhimmi" status as an oppressed people. Jews are also to be hated. None of the leaders of the Muslim world has refuted these beliefs. Most simply say that the time to defeat the Jews will come "later". By "later", they probably mean when they achieve political control of the west with the help of their enablers on the left. If this happens, no peace deals or "ties" with the Arab and Muslim world will matter. With the combined power of the Muslim states and the western states (and the open support of South America and Africa) Arabs will have no need to respect any peace deals with Israel. They will be in a position to make whatever demands they want. Israel should focus its political goals on preventing this, rather than live in a fantasy world where the Arabs are only misunderstood puppies.
29. Delusional crook
Sigfried S. Kuhn ,   Aberdeen   (11.11.08)
Once a person is locked into a delusional belief, facts that contradict the belief are ignored. In the case of the Oslo Accords, "land for peace" was the driving force. The problem was and continues to be that when Israel cedes land to the Palestinians, more Israelis die from terrorism. In fact, this is indisputable. Oslo caused many thousands of Israeli casualties, nearly destroyed tourism and Israel's economy, and actually increased the hatred of Europe towards Israel. Abandoning Gaza has resulted in Sderot and other Negev communities rendered uninhabitable because of constant Palestinian rocket fire. Oh, and Gaza has become a terrorist haven for Hamas. Despite these past experiences, Olmert and other Israeli morons continue to believe that giving more land will make the Palestinians like Jews. Wake up Israel. Vote these deranged imbeciles out of office.

zionist forever   (11.11.08)
Olmert has freed up plenty of prison space with his goodwill gestures becaise since Lebanon he has released near 1000 terrorists in various gestures so I imagine there should be at least one empty cell. Now all we need to do is hope Menahem Mazuz doesn't let Olmert walk away the way he let Moshe Katsav walk and rather than getting charged with rape he now enjoys a luxury car, offices in Tel Aviv, a private secretery, security provided by Shin Bet all at taxpayer expense on top of his presidents pension.
